What a very sweet bed time story. I read this with my newborn. Even though he can’t understand the words yet, I shared each kiss with him and we greatly enjoyed looking at the pictures.
The main character, a baby chick, kisses each of his friends good night. Giving them a sense of love and some well wishes of good dreams. What an attitude to promote! This is definitely a book that my son, if he were a bit older, would get a lot out of.
I did feel that it was a bit long. Kids reading this on their own or with siblings would easily get bored after several animals and a repetitive plot. There was definitely more potential here that could have been tapped into. However the simplicity of this little book goes a long way. The illustration was a great way to introduce animals from all over the world to young minds.

Clavis and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of A Hundred Kisses Before Bedtime. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Chick will not go to bed unless he gives all of the animals a kiss goodnight. As he visits his friends, including the rooster, the horse, and the giraffe, Chick observes all that they are doing instead of going to sleep. When Chick gets tired himself, will there be anyone left away to give him a kiss?

A Hundred Kisses Before Bedtime is a little too repetitive, so very young children might get a bored with the story long before the ending. The drawings are charming, but definitely not representative of the actual animals and their habitats. They are not drawn to scale with Chick, but children will probably not notice that fact. Overall, the story was cute and the colorful pages will be attractive to young children, but I am hesitant to recommend the book because of the issues listed above.

This was a nice rhyming storybook about a variety of adorable animals getting kisses before bedtime. The art wasn't a huge standout, but the drawings are very sweet. The story's nothing to write home about, but it would be a good bedtime book.

I really liked the idea of this story, and the story itself was sweet. Unfortunately, the review edition I received from Netgalley didn't include any of the pictures and I think that's kind of important when reviewing a children's book. Because I feel like I'm missing half the story of what makes a children's book so fun and heart-warming, I can only give this book 3 stars.

Received via Netgalley and reviewed of my own accord.

'A Hundred Kisses Before Bedtime' by Mack van Gageldonk is a bedtime storybook about a little chick who helps put animals to bed.

Little chick goes around settling all the animals by giving them a goodnight kiss. There is horse, rooster, and cat. There is also giraffe, crocodile and lion. This little chick lives in a very populated place. Little chick finally runs out of animals to kiss goodnight and gets its own kiss goodnight.

This was a cute book and a quick read, but it seemed to go on a bit too long. The illustrations are pretty cute, but chick seems to be out of proportion with some animals. It's a cute enough read, but perhaps a shorter book would be better for busy toddlers. Perhaps I should have taken the title a bit more literally.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Clavis Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

This is an adorable little book about a chick who needs to give all of his friends goodnight before he can settle in to bed. It would be a great bedtime book for a very small child (maybe under kindergarten age) especially one who loves to give kisses. All of his friends are different animals and small children can learn to recognize animals based on their art, so they're learning a bit without realizing it.

This is an adorable picture book about saying goodnight. My granddaughter absolutely loved this story and we read it several times over the last couple of days. It was also a great one to read her before putting her to bed. Little chick announces that he is good at giving kisses and that he makes sure all the animals get a good-night kiss. She proceeds to wander around and find all her friends, tell them it is time for bed and gives them a kiss. A cute story where there are a lot of animals introduced (even though the ones shown live all over the world) and get their night time kisses. She loved all the animals, tried to say all their names and gave me a kiss everytime the chick gave one. I am going to buy one for her and her siblings to share. Loved it. The publisher, Clavis Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

A cute book for little kids who love kisses before going to bed. In the story everyone is busy in their life and are reminded with a sweet kiss that it's bedtime. A Bedtime Read.

This book is quite long for such a simple story. It is a baby chick saying good night and giving good night kisses to various animals. It has fun illustrations, but there is no flow. It’s as if the author just kept adding animals until they got to 100. If the pages could be arranged differently, maybe all farm animals together, or all birds together, or a trip around the world or something. Then the book could seem more put together and intentional.

Thank you Netgalley for this copy.
The ideea of kissing goodnight all the animals is very sweet for all the children and not only. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the illustrations as they did not download with the text.

This is the sweet story of a little chick who gives all the animals a kiss before goodnight. I immediately loved the first pages: seeing this chick give kisses and goodnight lullabies was adorable.

But then, I became very annoyed by the bossy/demanding tone of the their voice: "stop playing", "stop talking", "why are you still doing xyz, it's time to sleep"... I don't feel like this is proper way to take care of your animal friends, nor a proper way to teach respectful communication to your kids.

Another negative aspect is that the book is very, very long. Like 20 pages too long. It is supposed to be a bed story for younger kids, but I do not think that they will be able to stay focused that long. The end of the book is very sweet tho, with the reunification of the chick with their parent.

A final negative aspect is that the illustrations are low-quality, and don't always do a good job at representing animals: the deer looks like a brown pig with no neck, the horse has only two lateral legs, the owl falls asleep when the sun is high up in the sky...

In the end, the book was a good idea at first, but it was so poorly executed that I can only give it a two stars.

This pictures in this book were very adorable. The little chick gives all the animals a kiss before bed. Children get to see a lot of different animals, but I feel like they went a little overboard with the amount of animals in the book. I felt like it could be several pages shorter. I think children with a short attention span might get bored easily.

This is a gentle and sweet read aloud story. At bedtime, Chick visits all of her animal friends and there are many including a hedgehog and ducklings, among others. Chick helps each animal to settle down for the night and even helps the owl to settle down for sleep in the day. Young listeners will like the repetition on a theme and they can also learn the names of many animals too! This one is a nice addition to the bedtime shelf with its simple sentences and appealing illustrations.

Thanks to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the ebook ARC of A Hundred Kisses Before Bedtime by Mack van Gageldonk in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet picture book about bedtime kisses for ages 12 months and up.
“I’m really good at giving kisses. Every night I make sure all the animals get a good-night kiss. Then they can sleep tight.”
Before going to bed, Chick wants to give all the animals a good-night kiss. You get to meet different animals from a crocodile who’s floating in the water to a big lion and a little hedgehog. They all get a sweet kiss from Chick until he gets tired himself….

I give this book a rating of 5 stars. I read it to my 4 year old daughter. The book is very cute and has simple and colourful images of different animals. An adorable book for bedtime.

What a sweet story for littles at bedtime! I sure do hope illustrations accompany the text of the book! My Kindle didn't download any and it would be sad not to have them! A little chick wanders around kissing all the creatures a kiss goodnight! Sweet Tale!

Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for this DRC,

This is an adorable picture book about saying goodnight.
This cute little chickadee running all over the place to kiss her friends goodnight and make sure they are all settled in for slumber.
Lots of different animals get introduced in this book, so it's both sweet and educational.
This would be a lovely little story to read tiny humans before bedtime.

Illustrations were simple but the jest of the story was cute. A gentle read before bedtime when a snuggle and a kiss are needed after a long day . Animals like people like to be loved and what a great way to show this through animals .
