Jill Sanders takes us on a journey through the heartache of both a lost love and a lifelong friendship, through a passionate new love, and how love can heal even the most broken of hearts. I felt real empathy for the residents of Pride and even shed a few tears as the town grieved the loss of one of their own.
I was also swept up in the growing passion that slowly built between Becca and Sean. With a history built on the childhood memories between them, it was totally believable that that friendship and shared heartache would grow into a passionate relationship.
I was also pleasantly surprised that I could jump into this series without having read the prior books and not feel as if I'd missed out by starting with book 7. The characters, the town, and the story all rang true all on it's own.
I'm definitely a new fan of this series and can't wait to read the rest of the novels. My only complaint would be a few holes that seemed to be missing toward the end of the novel, as if the ending was wrapped up abruptly. But overall a really good love story.
Becca Lander and Nick Becker were destined to be together, they knew that, the small town they lived in knew that.
When Nick joins the army the settle for a long-term relationship, unfortunately Nick dies in an accident.
Enter Sean Farrow, Nick’s best friend and also a friend of Becca during their teen years. He returns back home from the army, and has always had a crush on Becca.
Thanks to Sean, Becca finds out that Nick had planned a cruise trip for them for their honeymoon, and not wanting this to go to waste, Becca decides to go on the trip and asks Sean to go along.
During this trip their relationship starts to grow, and they take it to the next level, when suddenly, an incident almost tears them apart. They don’t give up hope and they fight for their love.
The story was good, and so was at the writing, however I did find it a bit too ~ easy somehow. I would have loved some more built up, some more tension, some big emotions. It left me wanting more from this story, I think it had potential and the trope of friends to lovers could have been explored more in my opinion.
This was my first Jill Sanders book and I enjoyed it, so I’ll definitely be checking out her other books.
