Not sure what I was expecting, but it was fine. Not well versed enough in the DC comics to know whether or not it's a good list, but I definitely made note of some comics to revisit/check out.
These catalogs are really great. They are informative an give you lots to look forward to for the coming year. I enjoy planning my the and gift ideas from them.
Unfortunately, it was only a catalog. I think you can pick up stuff like this for free at comic book shops, unless I am missing something.
Interesting and easy to follow. Well laid out in a clear format with good information included.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy to review.
Sadly, I was unable to open the file. I’m giving this five stars because the rating should not go down due to a technical error. The cover is beautiful, though.
This is just a catalog. There is no need to review this as it's not an actual book. It is annoying that NetGalley makes us review things like this for no reason.
I love reading these samplers so I know which graphic novels I'd like to check out. This one gave me some new items to look into.
If you are a comics fan, and enjoy DC Comics, then this free catalog is certainly for you. It briefly describes many of the offerings of DC Comics, arranges them very well, and includes numerous pages which let you know the reading order of the comics, and their selected backlist. It's obvious a lot of time and effort went into this project, and it would be worth your while to look it over.
A catalog of DC essential reads, while informational will not be utilized enough for our library to purchase. Love the concept of important books in one spot though.
This guide is perfect for new DC readers and for anyone needing graphic novel suggestions. Enjoyed the intro with Aquaman and Mera too.
This was a nice and concise primer to the DC Universe. I enjoyed seeing the different eras of DC comics broken down into clear chunks, and imprints, creators, formats, and even release dates were clearly marked. I hope DC will continue to make these Essential GN Catalogs since this one helped me better understand when comics take place in the greater lore.
From my personal favourites such as The Flash, Batgirl, and Superman to the other “Big Stars” like Batman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman, all are covered in the catalog and introduced shortly. As a huge DC fan myself, I now know exactly which soon-to-be-released Graphic Novels I’m waiting for (im)patiently and which ones I still have to buy that have been released in the past.
With a creative layout and short commentaries I enjoyed reading this catalog as much as the actual comics themselves and the introduction story at the beginning starring Aquaman,Mera and The Mantis is a beautiful way to start a catalog and makes it so much more alive.
This catalog also covers nicely the new releases for the DC young readers section. I always end up putting way too many new graphic novels on my tbr, and this time was no different!
Wasn't what I expected. It was more a magazine than an actual anthology. Wish that had been made more obvious before I downloaded it.
I really like DC Comics so I really enjoyed reading this sampler catalog. Even if you are new to comics, there has to be something in this sampler catalog that you would enjoy. It’s a great way to find new material to read. Please keep in mind that it is a catalog so it’s not a full bound volume or anything so you will have to acquire more issues of whatever it is you get interested in reading. Also, it’s a great cover. It would be a cool poster. I would recommend this catalog to all DC Comics fans.
A must-have for all DC Essential graphic novel fans! Thanks to DC Entertainment and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.

This is a few years old now so it's interesting as a historical artifact around how DC was talking about their comics at the time. It really showcases how the biggest assets of the major comic companies are their histories and the utter weight of their mythologies - DC showcases classic storylines for classic characters for the majority of this catalog. Another nice feature is the reading order and backlist at the end of the book. A good resource for my comixology account.
Wow, this catalogue is very useful. For someone fairly new to the DC graphic novels world, it can be overwhelming seeing the sheer amount of volumes and variations DC has had over the years (decades, even). This catalogue provides an entry point for any reader, and the recommended order of reading at the back can also act as a checklist for seasoned readers.
Something new I learned from this catalogue was the DC Black Label. I didn’t realise there was such thing. The list of TV series adaptations was also a good additional info.
Last but not least, the opening Aquaman x Black Manta pages fighting over the catalogue were the right amount of cheesy, and the right amount of fun.
Love DC heroes in all their graphic and colourful glory? Wonder what to buy next? Well, look no further, here are some titbits presented gloriously for your viewing pleasure.
This book is not supporting in my phone.
I cant read it right now
Please take care of this problem
It's not even opening in netgalley app
Though a text from a few years ago, I am always ready to engage with a DC Comics read. I love the way characters from the reaches of nostalgia continue to find reinventions in this reading universe.
