I've loved Lolly Winston's other books and was excited about the opportunity to read Me for You. The book starts with a very dramatic event and kind of meandered along the way, taking detours and adding elements that didn't totally make sense (ie potential murder charge). Ms. Winston did totally capture my view of working as a pianist at Nordstroms and the whole shopping experience at the store. I also liked how she tackled the tough subjects of grief and loss and their potential impact on your life for a long period of time. But, I was challenged by the flow (or perhaps lack of one) of the different story elements and their connection.
Very sweet second chance love story. All the sweeter for non traditional ways. I enjoyed the twists if the family reactions, and the detective questions and thoughts, definitely added some excitement! Still, the love story was the main dish.
This is a gentle story. Sad and yet hopeful. But it’s quiet with most of the plot taking place in the characters’ thoughts. I really enjoyed the book and found it very authentic. But I can see from other reviews that it isn’t for everyone. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc.
A book of heartache a wife’s sudden death a discovery of new love a future.A novel that drew me in an emotional ride a book that will surprise you with its twist and turns. #netgalley #Mefor you.#touchstonebooks.
Rudy’s wife dies unexpectedly, plunging Rudy into grief and depression. As a part-time piano player in Nordstrom, Rudy befriends Sasha, a salesperson who has also suffered an unimaginable tragedy. As Sasha and Rudy begin a relationship, Rudy falls victim to his deep depression. An interesting story, with different characters and a hopeful story line. I liked it.
I tried really hard to get interested in this book. I got 35% through and finally gave up. The story is a great one there just wasn’t anything there to keep me interested.
