Gritty police thriller with some interesting characters. Set in Stoke around a local school is it linked to an older case? Lots of twists.

Tick Tock is another gripping tale by Mel Sherratt. I've followed Mel's books for some time now and she never disappoints. DS Grace Allendale is a likeable and relatable character and I love the Stoke on Trent setting. Everything about Mel's writing feels gritty and authentic and Tick Tock is a fantastic follow up to Hush Hush. I didn't know how she was going to top book one in the series, but she has. The book hits the ground running with murder in broad daylight and doesn't let up as Grace chases every lead. A gritty, authentic, fast-paced read that you won't want to put down.

DS Grace Allendale is back with another grim case as a young girl is murdered in broad daylight, two days later a young mother on her way home from work is murdered. Why have they been killed no one knows but the team have job on their hands to solve it as they have no witnesses or clues. When a third victim is found by Grace still alive the race is on to get these cases solved.I won't spoil it for others so i can highly recommed this book.Well done to Mel Sherratt well worth 5*

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for the eARC.
DS Grace Allendale and her team are investigating the case of a strangled teenager. She was on a run with her classmates, but stopped to tie her shoelaces while the others ran on. When her friends go back to see why she's not caught up, they find her body. Soon thereafter a young mother is found strangled as well. It takes the team quite a while to solve the case in the end; the perpetrators are quite a shock, with the mastermind behind the murders a surprising twist in the story.
Mel Sherratt is tremendously popular and gets stellar reviews, so I feel bad about my 2-star rating, but I just didn't like the book. It felt like it was the same old story and there was not a single character I felt connected to or cared about. The book, in my opinion, was formulaic, it bored me. Sorry!
