I couldn’t get into this book. I was hoping it would improve but I gave up. For me the premise was better than the execution. I couldn’t care for either of the narrators.

Olivia Isaac-Henry is a new author and WoW what a fantastic read "Someone You Know" was. I was hooked after the first few pages and just had to finish the book to see what happened to Edie all those years ago. I read this book with in a day and found it a very easy to read. Plus, I loved all the characters.

Tess Piper was fourteen when her adored twin sister Edie disappeared one day. Tess, then spent the next twenty years building her life away from her fractured family. However, desperate to escape the shadow of the past. She still looks for her twin sister Edie and hoping she's still alive and would bump into her one day. As she was never found.

It will keep you guessing right until the end on what happened to Edie all those years ago.

I found it a great thriller, and looking forward to her Olivia's books. Brilliant read

Thanks to Avon Books UK and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I enjoyed it.

A thriller with at least two pretty major twists towards the end, this book is worth a read.

A missing twin and a 20 year mystery finally solved. This is a full of suspense page turner that kept me guessing the whole way through. Definitely worth reading.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I really enjoyed this thriller, suspecting everyone in turn, except for the actual murderer. The story is beautifully crafted, a little more being revealed each chapter. A mother dies, then before long one of her children disappears. Is there a connection? A great twist at the end. Lovely way to spend a snowy day.

The story ARC would appear familiar ——> Twins, Edie and Tess, one popular, other not so much, both angry, mother dies, then one of the twin disappears, 20 years later, skeleton found at the bottom of the reservoir ——> Who killed Edie?

Olivia Issac Henry's debut had some gripping scenes, unreliable always-drunk main character Tess, hidden secrets, illicit affairs, weak-willed characters, and hidden anger. I could feel the adolescent angst, the dependent twin syndrome, possessiveness, pain, rebellion, and along with the strange feeling of being lost in this wide world that the twins went through post their mother's death. Dual timelines and dual POV and short chapters makes this a fast read, YET it was a slow burn suspense.

The author had designed an intricate web for me to fall into, but the web was a bit too prickly. Hence I couldn't stick well to it. The story though gripping didn't really overwhelm me with interest. The speed of my pulse remained at a plateau. My niggles kept popping up, and I really didn't like a self-destructive, drunk, not-in-senses main character, however much I understand the reasons for it.

Overall, an enjoyable read with a surprise ending.

This book was quite entertaining, and certainly keeps you guessing to work out whodunnit. The relationship of Tess and her family is quite tortured and I felt that as twins they would be fundamentally closer and I believe they would have looked out for each other more, even if they had different ideas of how to have fun. The characters just don't seem to develop very naturally and the relationships are not well portrayed generally. Tess and Edie's father is a very shadowy figure, and it would have been good to see him a little more filled out, although the nature of his depression meant he was very much a background figure in the girls' lives, especially after his wife's death. Clearly the deaths of Edie and her mother have a profound influence on the life of their father and Tess; only at the end do we begin to understand all the ramifications.

Having said that, it was fun to see the interactions between Tess and Edie, their father, and uncle Ray and auntie Becca, as well as how the adults behave. The discovery of Edie's body changes all the dynamics and breaks the story open as we begin to seriously speculate who could have killed her. There are some clear suspects, but the plot twists and turns, keeping us guessing.

The plot was well handled, and the novel is generally of a good pace, particularly towards the end, although occasionally in the middle it does get a little bogged down and repeats itself. Overall I enjoyed it, but it wasn't terribly memorable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5- What did I just read? this was seriously twisted and so intense. Every page that I turned, every word that I read had me more and more shocked and upset. The author did such an amazing job with the characters. I did not see some of the shocks coming. Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

I found this book to be a bit slow, but not bad. The premise is intriguing and the writing good, I think I just had a hard time connecting to the characters. That being said, it wasn't a bad book at all and I'd read this author again in the future!

A missing twin, a 20 year old mystery, deception, grief and confusion - what’s not to love?! I devoured this book in a couple of days. Being a twin I adore reading about other twin sisters and I can’t resist a good mystery. This story lived up to my hopes and kept me guessing until almost the end. A top read!

I enjoyed this book, and thought the plot was a good one, but I found the constantly changing timeline and seemingly endless list of suspects quite confusing and never felt I got to really know any of the characters.
Thank you to netgalley and Avon publishers for an ARC

After reading the blurb for this book I was really looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately this was not the case. Twins Tess and Edie are fourteen years old. One day Edie goes missing and is never seen again. Fast forward twenty years and her body is found. This book is very busy and somewhat confusing. It seems to jump around to much. This was a slow burner that never ignited. An okay read but not for me.

Her sisters disappearance as hunted her for years, finally confronting her fractured family she hope to get some truths, is the body her sister or not. You can feel the nervous energy in this book, to get to the truth, it’s taken so much courage to finally try to find out what happened to her sister, sorry I can and will not do spoilers, I find they ruin books. I know if I read spoilers I genuinely wouldn’t read the book. I like to find out myself, this one definitely will keep you guessing not only guessing you will not want to put it down, fortunately for me I have a device in every room, so when I find myself in the situation I did with this particular book, if I have to go into another room for anything I just use the device I have there, even when cooking, I don’t often read and cook but this book I did, it’s so gripping and drags you into the book ax if you’re living this build up and confronting the family that’s so dysfunctional or fractured, I could feel my heart beating faster and the nerves going. Now not many books can do that, but trust me this one does and ITS A DEFINITE MUST MUST MUST READ. You will be missing out a brilliant storyline if you don’t read it, it’s going to be a major talking point this book, loved every second of reading the book. Hope you noticed I didn’t even use the sisters names, that’s fior you to find out, or maybe they have been mixed up being twins, you just never know what’s coming, if you only read one book this year make it this one, you will have no regrets

Someone You Know starts slowly and I found it quite hard to get in to. The story grew and I found myself reading quite quickly as I realised what was happening. I'm glad I kept reading as this is a good debut novel and I really enjoyed it in the end!

Cleverly written this book is told in alternative chapters of Tess today and Edie in the 90's when she was 14 before she disappeared. As the title tells us it is usually someone you know. This was a slow burner with lots of potential suspects leading to a gripping ending. A dark tale as the disappearance of Edie really impacted all her close family members in their different ways. I enjoyed and didn't guess the ending.

Someone you know is a fantastic psychological thriller which I read in one night, I was totally hooked from the first page until the last.

At 14 Tess Pipers beloved twin sister Edie disappeared, 20 yrs later the dreaded call arrives that a body has been found and it’s confirmed as Edies. The story alternates between present and past and reveals many secrets and lies.

The story is full of suspense, surprises and is fast paced with an exciting plot.

A well earned 5 stars

#NetGalley #SomeoneYouKnow This had all the potential to be a great story after the body of Tess's twin was discovered 20 years after she had gone missing. But the first half to three quarters of the book was so slow to get going and seemed to repeat itself a lot. I also didn't like the constant flashbacks to when the twins were 10 years old. Whilst it was good to get some background, it felt really drawn out and labored. The last part of the book improved dramatically with some great writing and anticipation with suspects changing constantly but it was too little too late for me I'm afraid.

So it’s the first book I’ve ready by this author, and I won’t be the last!

What a fantastic book, I had my suspects arrested and convicted at least three times, but I never guessed right.

I was gripped until the very end, fantastic writing.

Looking forward to adding more OH books to my collection

I really wanted no interruptions to read this book as it was so engrossing. It's from the angle of the 2 twins Tess and Edie. Tess a 35 year old in 2018/19 and Edie in the 1990s as an early teenager when she's discovering boys and leaving twin Tess behind and growing apart, although Tess doesn't want that to happen. . They were close until they turned into teenagers then Edie grew up at faster rate. Who dunnit? That's what the reader has to find out. I never figured out who dunnit. Can you? Unputdownable.
