Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC... I wanted to love it as it was for people who enjoyed He Said/She said and other such books and the story was perhaps good and exciting, but the way it was told was just long and dull. I read 20% of the book and can't say the story was going anywhere or that I was on the edge of my seat waiting for they next exciting thing to happen. In short, I had no patience for this book when there are so many faster paced psychothrillers waiting to be read.

I have to say I only read abut 20% of this book before I gave up. The story was boring and characters unlikeable. Despite being a student myself,, I could not relate to them in any way. Eva was annoying and quite creepy, there was no background information on her whatsoever and we were just thrown into the plot and had to figure out what was going on. I’m sure the author elaborated on Eva’s and Marina’s stories later on, but I don’t care about the plot enough to keep reading. I also found that the blurb did not relate in any way to the plot. Yes, there are some social media references but I assumed the plot would be executed in a slightly different way from the beginning.

A very interesting read . Twists and turns to keep you engrossed. Wondering which way the author is going to take it. Nice and easy to read. Flows well. Enjoyable to read

Click wasvery similar to a topic that keeps cropping up lately, how easy it is to be stalked by just following social media accounts. I read something very similar lately and was not able to finish this, it was too slow. I may put this aside and try again but it was not for me, others may find it more to their liking. Click is a cautionary tale about the dangers of social media. It's an intriguing and thrilling mystery. The naivete and misplaced trust is central to the idea of the story. Social media can actually kill you. Don't ever let strangers see too far inside your life. The story is twisty and dynamic with action and drama. The characters are engaging and mislead easily. Overall it's a good thought provoking read. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting character study and cautionary tale about a freshman in college who is looking to find happiness in all the wrong people and places.

The story centers around Eva, an eighteen year old who comes from a very small town and has been home schooled most of her life and is hoping to find new friends, new ideas and a new approach to her life that she felt was missing while she was growing up. Eva spends too much time looking at other people's lives on social media instead of actually living her own life. Finally, she sees a student's picture that seems to be everything that Eva is not, and she looks all over campus hoping to run into this girl whose name is Marina and maybe strike up a friendship. The story delves into a three month complex relationship which includes many secrets, lies, drugs, love, hate and many misunderstandings. The book unfolds like a simmering volcano waiting to erupt.

I was hoping for a thrilling story,, unfortunately this books was a very long, slow burn. The book was well-written but it really dragged for me almost the entire time. Maybe, if the book was listed as a drama or fiction, I would not have been so disappointed as I was expecting a suspenseful mystery or exciting thriller. I do feel the book touched on important issues in a teenager's life that parents should be aware of since older children are very clever at keeping secrets and not wanting to expose their real selves to parents and other family members.

In a digital world, this is a great reminder of the dark side of social media. This was a quick read and honestly I thought it would be a great read, but it did fall a little flat for me. It was creepy, but I found my mind wandering as I was reading it. I liked how the main character was unstable and would have liked a little more background of why. I think it could use some good polishing up before its released.

4-5 stars! Intriguing read, which really grabbed my attention from the beginning. I love when social media is a play in the plot, I think it makes it so real for our society. This one is definitely one that held my attention, had me wondering exactly was going to happen and chilled me.

This book, unfortunately, is a DNF. I need to say I only read 15%. That's what? 60 pages in the paperback?

Every time I picked it up I put it down after a few pages. It does have a slow start which is not a deal breaker for me. I was very interested in the online aspect but I didn't get to see very much of that. Again, my fault. The reason why I couldn't push through was because I thought the main character pathetic. Not as in she was badly written, but that she was very passive about life and her only longing was to become friends with this one girl. I didn't like Marina either. The main character, Eva, makes Marina seem to be this hauntingly smart girl who she just wants to get to know but Marina was too blase.

I'm sorry I couldn't finish it but I just couldn't find deep-seated interest for either character to make me want to find out what happens.

I didn't want to give it a starred rating since I didn't give it enough of a chance. I'll give it a three on here since I don't know any better about the ending. I will not be posting this review online (Amazon and Goodreads) unless otherwise asked.

I was really excited to read this book but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. I thought this would be a modern, interesting plot, however I found the book clunky and at times old fashioned in the style of writing. Overall, it could have been so much better.

A book with mystery, intrigue and very much modern day life. Friends requests, messages and social media. University life through the main character is not all it is cracked up to be. You meet many people, online and in life. Who can you trust? Who can you believe? Good read.

The author wrote a thriller that started with a bang and just kept going! The twists kept coming, so I couldn't put it down. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

A good read, but cannot say that it had me gripped. The story had a few twists, which always keeps me turning the pages. I am very wary of using social media and having read this book, only reaffirms my thoughts. A well written book and one that i would suggest my eldest granddaughter reads. It is worth a read.

The story was a little confusing and sometimes I found it hard to keep things straight and to want to keep going. As I got towards the end of the book, I felt that the pace picked up and I wanted to finish the story. I didn't feel invested in what happened to the characters as I read the story as I would in a story that had made me care about them. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book via NetGalley.

I guessed part  of the big reveal at the end but I enjoyed the book quite a bit.

Oh social media! You can hide lots even as you show a lot. Eva is a young and immature woman who arrives at university really unprepared for so much. She becomes obsessed with Marina, who seems to have it all- or does she? How these two tangle together and then blow apart makes for a quick entertaining read. There's an unreliable narrator, a twist or two, and well done characters. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

For some reason I always seem to be drawn to thrillers involving the internet or social media; I think it's the ambiguity of it all and the fact that it's a playground where many weirdos congregate, so when I discovered Click it appeared to be right up my street. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to expectations due to poor execution. If I'm brutally honest I found it extremely boring as it's far too long and drawn out; maybe tightening up of the text would've made a difference. The author did, however, create an ominous, creepy atmosphere at certain points throughout, which I did appreciate.

The story highlights the potential for crazies to cause issues for people on the internet, and our main character, Eva, shows how cyberstalking, obsession and manipulation is rife due to the protection anonymity brings. The cast are all intensely unlikeable, so if you need likeable characters to enjoy a book this may not be a good fit. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators then this is worth checking out, but I can't say I had fun reading it.

I really wanted to like this book, it had a good premise, but that’s about it. Sadly, reading this was sort of a waste of time. Nothing really happens...or maybe it does, but the text is so long and unnecessary, the book really never gets to the point. Or to a conclusion really. The characters were all extremely unlikable, made even worse by the fact that the story really never went anywhere. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this book was just boring

Hi my bookish friends! I did a thing last night and finished two books! I got home around 5:15pm and sat down and finished the Sci-Fi book I was reading, as well as the Psychological Thriller I got from NetGalley. The book I got from NetGalley out of the Read Now section is called Click by L. Smyth. This book is being released for sale on March 29th, so just a few days away, by the publisher Harper Collins UK. 

Eva is a very socially awkward young women who goes off to University looking to make a new life for herself, and make lots of friends during her first year. Unfortunately, it is nothing like what she expected and spends most of her free time obsessing over the social media accounts of the other students in her courses, almost as a substitute for having face to face social interaction. One day she notices Marina, a girl having an argument with one of her English Professors who teaches a lecture.  After witnessing a questionable interaction between Marina and the Professor, Eva starts stalking Marina on social media but doesn't find a lot and ends up befriending her. From there, the friendship between Eva and Marina is questionable and seems very one sided as Eva portrays Marina as a very attention seeking and demanding person. At first Eva loves the attention and the demand of being Marina's friend but as mid-semester break arrives Eva starts sticking up for herself against Marina. They get into an argument which results in Eva pushing Marina over in her chair and they stop talking. Over break Eva starts to feel guilty about what happened between them and begins stalking Marina again, only to find that her social media accounts are shut down. Eva starts to panic that Marina has blocked her, so she sends a bunch of messages to their mutual friend and classmate, Henry. When Henry reaches out to Eva toward the end of break, asking if she's spoken to Marina and knows where she is because she's run off, Eva flies off into a frenzy trying to find out what has happened. I'm sure you can imagine the degree of creep from there, but oh it gets even better! To find out you should really, really read the book! 

What I absolutely loved about this book....

I loved how creepy L. Smyth made Eva, she is basically a super stalker with a very unhealthy obsession with Marina. I started to wonder if Eva was having psychotic breaks, as sometimes the incidents she would talk about just seemed too out there to be reality, and you definitely start to wonder in the last 50 pages of the book. The ending absolutely blew me away! I did not see that ending coming and was very surprised. This was my first time reading anything by L. Smyth and I instantly fell in love with the writing style. It was very smooth and flowed really well, there were certain points where I could not put the book down. I enjoyed that the book was written in Eva's perspective, as she recounts her story of her friendship with Marina, and the events leading up to present day. Occasionally we come back to present time as Eva provides an explanation or further details and then the story delves back into the events leading up to the chaos. I almost feel that if there had been an additional Point of View added it would have taken away from the Psychological aspect and it wouldn't have been as horribly creepy. I'm really starting to question being on social media thanks to this book!!!

What I struggled with....

There were times where the story had a lull,  where Eva was describing what she was doing, or what she and Marina would talk about. Which isn't bad, as there were only a few parts that felt like that for me. In a way the lulls made for a great dynamic to the excruciatingly awkward and creepy parts of the book. 



If you like Psychological Thrillers, or are looking to branch out and don't particularly want something too gruesome, then I definitely recommend this read! I basically read it in two sittings, half the book one sitting and half the other. It was a very clean, gripping Thriller and I really hope this Author writes more books. Click is conplicated to describe, but my immediate response is to point out its intensity! From the first few pages, I was tightly gripped by the storyline and it never let me go.

I absolutely love an unreliable narrator!!! These are the best kinds of thrillers!!

In order not to give away too much, I can only give you a few snippets of what to expect: internet stalking, the college experience at a preppy private school, a dating app, the struggles of an introvert, a death, an investigation, a lot of suspense and a BIG secret that could affect MANY people’s lives!!!
