What an amazing thriller this had so many twists and turns I felt like I was on a rollercoaster and I love a good plot twist fantastic keeps you guessing roo the very end

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

A fantastic novel that kept me hooked throughout. Great to see different bits of information released as I was reading. A five star novel.

What a rollercoaster this book is!! Jackie Kablet writes brilliant characters; at times you feel sorry for them and at other times you want to throttle them! That’s the sign of a good author though, making you go through all the emotions.

A bit of a slow burner to begin with, once it got going I couldn’t put it down and I loved the ending - didn’t see that coming!

Will be looking out for more books by Jackie as this one was great!

Wow, what a great read. Am I Guilty is my first book from this author and one I truly enjoyed and I highly recommend. Great well-crafted characters and easy to follow storyline.

A Psychological Thriller dealing with the tragic fall out of a drunken lunch and a catastrophic mistake which resulted in the slow and horrific death of Thea's baby boy and her total amnesia about the events of that fatal afternoon. They said it was her fault, that she is, at best, irresponsible and not fit to have children, at worst, a murderer .... What kind of mother would do that? Out of her mind with grief and self loathing, Thea's whole world is in collapse and she believes the tabloid headlines and the version of events she is told. Then the flashbacks start - is her mind reinventing history or are the very people she loves hiding something?

This is a true roller-coaster of a read, the writing is engaging, the plotting is superb and the multiple humanly flawed and unreliable cast of characters (who all have their own issues and secrets) are fantastically drawn. It absolutely captivated me - full of deception, secrets and lies it had me hooked and constantly changing my mind and allegiances right until the very end.

Am I Guilty? by Jackie Kabler is a story about Thea and the death of her young son Zander. She believes she is guilty of his death, as are all around her. But is she really to blame?

Although I found this book a little bit slow to start, I did enjoy the read. All of the characters were interesting and had their own secrets and stories and I enjoyed watching them all play out. I never guessed the ending either!

Definitely recommend to fans of thrillers!

In short Thea is told that she is to blame for what happened to her child , but she can't believe that she is capable of hurting her baby. As the trial comes upon her she slowly starts to realize that somebody close to her is keeping secrets which might end up destroying her life

This is a fast-paced plot, well-developed characters that builds to a high climax. I love the twist in the end that I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended.

Her daughter only sees her three night a week, and the PA she had living with her at the time has taken another job elsewhere. In this rapidly paced, excellently plotted, novel, we soon begin unravelling the events which led to the day of Zander’s death, as well as the secrets the characters and their families have been holding so tightly to, right up to the crux of the novel, when we learn the bitter, horrible truth. If you’re a fan of novels which will tug at your emotions, which hurtle you into a series of affairs and secrets which wouldn’t be out of place in Desperate Housewives, with a crime fitting for a police procedural, Am I Guilty will be right up your alley. Equally, if you’re a fan of books which don’t take their time getting to the grit, this is a fantastically written story where you won’t get a moment to catch your breath. I for one gravitate towards fast paced, emotionally gripping novels, and so thoroughly enjoyed this, but I will warn you, if you prefer your heartbreak without the seed, this may be too much. Likewise, if you’re sensitive to trauma, nothing is sacred here, so be mindful, but if you’re curious by this book already, and you’re aware it can be upsetting, give it a go. It’s well sculpted, succinct, and crafted to pull out every reaction necessary for the climax to be heart wrenching and terrifying. Big thumbs up from me.

Written in 1st person, with the narrator rotating between Theo, Flora (the PA), and Annabelle (Theo’s once friend and Flora’s new employer), Kabler takes us into the lied filled, glamourous world of the Cotswold’s social elite, where no one is safe, and nothing is sacred. Something I enjoyed about the utilization of three narrators is the triple sided story we’re able to receive, which greatly benefits the plot. I found myself most drawn to Annabelle and occasionally Flora, but every character found a way to pull me in, and then shock me. There’s not a ton of heavy character development, as this is a plot driven novel, but the people within the story are all fascinating, flawed in their own ways, and play pivotal roles within the story. I honestly cannot wait to see what the author does next, and hope she continues to utilize the talent and strengths she obviously has found within this genre.

If I had to give critique, it’d be towards the end. You know I’m picky with endings, more so than I perhaps should be, and sadly this one wasn’t my favorite. There’s a chapter wrapping things up that felt out of place. It was a lot of exposition, and an inner monologue which didn’t suit the rest of the pacing. It’s great at explaining what happened, and how the character got to where they were, but I wish this chapter had been done in a more show, not tell, way. I also wish some of the summarizing towards the end had been more realistic, or drama induced. I felt a couple of the plot points were swept away for the character responsible to still be portrayed as inherently good, which didn’t fulfil a need I had. Every reader will feel differently, but for me, I needed less of a wrap up, and more of an opening for future trauma. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy this, I did, but I’m fussy with endings.

All in all, however, this is a great book, and one which utilizes the innate fear we all have of not being able to protect our families.

Couldn't put it down! Despite the awful thing that Thea has been accused of,, I liked her character and really wanted to know if her memories were false or real. A great ending, which I didn't expect. I'll definitely look out for more from the author!

Ohh gosh am I sticking out like a sore thumb with this review! It has so so many high and amazing reviews that I am definitely stating right now that it's me and not the book that's the problem. 

I just found it too slow and at times dull. My mind kept drifting and I wasn't interested. At the beginning I was, I thought the story would pick up it's pace and totally capture my attention, forcing me along at a rapid speed of shocks a be surprises. Umm, no. I didn't do this at all. I also started to forget who the narrator was at times and had to check back at the start of each chapter to figure out who was speaking. Which as most of you know, can get a tad annoying. I'll add that with beginning this book, you really need to read a large chunk of it to get a good idea of who's who but maybe that's just me? 

It wasn't all bad which is why I'm giving it two stars which means it was OK. There were parts that I liked. Just small scenes here and there and the writing was quite good. It flowed well.

I will say that I am willing to give this another go if I feel like it at some stage just because I'm left feeling like I must have missed something because everyone is loving this book. And now that I'm aware of the speed of the story, that will make a difference second time round I think.

While I personally didn't like it, this is one of those times I would tell you to give it a go. You will probably love it. Unless you are like me and are expecting something really fast paced.

Well developed, intense, thrilling, suspenseful, gripping, twisted, I could go on, but I think you probably get this idea. This contains everything you could ever wish for in a psychological thriller! I was absorbed within the first few pages and could not put it down. Highly recommend this book!

Wow what a book
I literally was so shocked by the ending of this book
I started reading this book and thought it was going to be like others I have read. I was so wrong
This book was so addictive. I was literally racing through the book to find out what had happened to the baby and whether poor Thea was innocent
Right from the start of the book I believed she was innocent and the story telling from different perspectives that the author dropped clues in and told the story through was just fantastic
The book tells the story of Thea, who gets drunk one afternoon and leaves her baby in the car. He subsequently dies and everyone turns their back on Thea. But she knows she didn’t kill her baby. But who did?
The book was fantastic and I cannot wait to read more by the same author

One of the best thrillers I've read this year, loved it. The story is very interesting it's tragic but I always wanted to hear from the parents point of view when something like this happened. What I really liked about this book is that is what told from all the characters POV and that just made this story much more strong and made me feel a real connection with them. It was sad and creepy and emotional just great. The only part that I didn't enjoyed was the ending of one of the husband's here but that is because I am I cold hearted bitch and can't forgive but other than that what I ride! Loved it. Brilliant. 4 1/5 stars

Oh my wordy word. Too many things to say-too few words to say them in! So, okay. I suppose I’ll begin by saying when I started this book I was having a conversation with some relatives about books. One of the people I was talking to said they could never ever read any books about children and the other backed them up. I told them (mouth getting carried away of course), that actually a huge amount of the books I read are about kids and you kind of get used to them, as generally I pick books that are on the tame side and not too graphic. ‘There are some great kidnapping books out there about kids going missing,’ I said. They looked at me in horror. ‘Oh, no, don’t worry, the kids are always found in the end,’ I said, backtracking, ‘or the killing happens at the start of the book and you know where you stand. They’re generally not too upsetting.’ There isn’t really anywhere you can go from there. All possibly inappropriate and sealing the deal as me being the loco one of the family (hides face in hands;))

Sorry, where was I? Oh yes! So funny I should say that these books don’t give me as strong as a reaction as they used to on the DAY I read this, a book where the occurrence really really affected me. I don’t know, maybe it’s because even though kidnappings etc are one of those worries, it’s the everyday things that can happen such as this one, an event that’s put down to neglect but could also be put down to a simple lapse in both judgement and memory (it actually happened to a dad in Ireland a few years ago and I remember my friend texted weeks later to say the man had killed himself. It really affected me.) Sorry, I’m digressing. The thing is, when you read about the death of the child in this you are essentially shown a picture of what happened to them, and it was grotesque and it took some time to get the image out of my mind.

This book is about the mother of said child trying to deal with what has happened, as she’s falling apart. She cannot remember anything and is trying to piece it together, while we are also hearing the povs of other people who are in some way connected with the events. I’ll admit, I’d picked one of the characters and run with her and then changed tack, then worried about our protagonist and so it went on, with me trying (and failing) to figure out what had lead to such a horrific event. This really was an unputdownable book, that kept me up late at night and stayed in my head long after I’d finished reading. Beyond beyond beyond recommended! A fantastic story, full of twists and turns. Brilliant read, highly recommended (and I’ve recommended it to loads of people already!) One of those stories where you think you’ve cracked the ending, and yet...

I read this book over a weekend as I could not put it down, it was an emotional read, but gripping from the first page until the last. When we first meet Thea we know that something awful has happened, a great tragedy but not what has happened, we are lead to believe it is her fault but again not how and this concept keeps you reading way into the night as you need to find out the answers.
This psychological thriller really keeps you guessing until the end. It’s based in a normal suburban residential area with normal families and friendships within a neighbourhood which following the tragic event begins to fall apart, this setting makes the book feel realistic and believable and so slightly unnerving.
The book is filled with mystery, suspense and many surprises. A must read over the summer holidays.

Thea thought she was a good mother to Zander, until she finds herself accused of leaving him in a car and letting him die, but she can't remember! She accepts what her friends and family are telling her until memories keep popping back into her head and make her doubt what everyone says happened that fateful day.

This book is gripping, if harrowing at times, fast paced and one you cannot put down because you believe that Thea would not, in fact could not, have done such a careless thing, and someone has set her up, but who? I really felt sympathy for Thea who thought she was losing her mind and is determined to set the record straight and find out who is guilty, because it cannot be her, surely?

My first from this Author, but will check out anything else she has written, 5* from me.

This was an excellent psychological thriller it got me gripped from the first page. A real page turner with an unexpected twist at the end. The only thing I didn’t like is the animal cruelty.. the characters and story were great. I would recommend this book to people that like this genre. I’ll certainly be looking out for more books by this author in the future.
