This was a really good read with interesting characters. It shows the kind of characters that shouldn't have children. Makes you feel sorry for the way children can be manipulated. The ending was also a surprise to me which is always good.

Would recommend.

A very dark and twisted story about a woman who may or may not have caused the death of her baby. I can't say that I enjoyed the story per se, however it did keep my attention and I had to know how it would end.

This was a good read, but had topics that were absolutely heartbreaking to read about. The author did great at really getting me into feeling things the characters were, surprised to find out it was a debut, because she had written such an chilling, intense, heart wrenching book. A must for my fellow thriller lovers, who can handle the tough subject of a baby dying!
I’ll be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

When your baby dies and you are to blame it's something that you won't be able to forget morning noon and night. Unless that is that you were too drunk to remember what happened. You must have done it right. This is the dilema that faces Thea on a daily basis. Everyone hates her apart from her best friend who has always stuck by her. Slowly fragments of that day come back to her but is what she is seeing what really happened. Read the book yourself and you will get drawn into the storyline quickly. I will look forward to reading more from this author.

Thea Ashfield is sure she is the cause of her young son Zander’s death when he was left in a hot car one day. Thea had been out drinking with her friend Isla and had no memory of the fateful day other than drinking until she fell asleep. Thea’s family and marriage disintegrates along with her children’s fashionable clothing business. As her trial nears bits and pieces of memories sneak into her subconscious. Will Thea find out she was not really to blame. Who else who harm an innocent child?

This is a debut novel and wow! I was really surprised st the way this turned out. I was trying to guess what way it would go and I was totally wrong. I found it really gripping, if a little hard to read at times. I liked the alternative chapters and found each characters point of view easy to follow in this format. A good round of characters and I changed my mind about them all throughout the book. I'm looking forward to reading more from Jackie and I hope it's soon.

Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A heartbreaking story about the death of a baby left in a hot car told in the beginning from the point of view of the three women involved and later in the book by the others who were affected by the death.
Thea is the mother of Zander who died and is out waiting for her trial for manslaughter. Her husband has left her but she still has shared custody with him of their daughter. Thea has no memory of the events of that awful but has been told that she might slowly start remembering things and that’s exactly what happens.
The book is very well written and keeps your interest throughout and yes I did read it straight through and was disappointed when it ended. This is a great book by a new favorite author and I will definitely recommend this book to everyone who likes a great psychological mystery.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Am I Guilty is a very twisty psychological thriller.
Thea is a mum to two children but after coming home drunk with her best friend she finds that she never got her baby son out of the car and as it was a really hot day he subsequently died leaving her bereft, suffering from stress, lost her husband and facing trial for the death.
This is a very, very twisty thriller and I have to be honest and say I thought by before the halfway mark I had sussed it all out and knew the perpetrator but ...... NO!! I was way off the mark 🙄
This was a book I flew through I was a good thriller, there were just enough characters and I liked how the chapters were told from different characters viewpoint but mainly Thea’s enabling the book to flow well and have a good pace keeping the reader always interested. This is the first book I’ve read by Jackie Kabler but I shall be keeping my eye out for the next.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Killer Reads, Harper Collins for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Twists and thrills throughout! Thea is accused of the death of her baby. Absolutely all of the players in this read could be guilty. The character development is superb. Astounding is the jaw-dropping things the reader finds out about each of the characters at the turn of a page. This is a thriller/suspense book that when you believe something is obvious, it's something else that really happened The reader changes their mind about the essence of the characters many times throughout this book!

Kept me in suspense and guessing until the very end!

A brilliant read!

Many thanks to Killer Reads, HarperCollins Publishing and NetGalley for a sure top ten suspense /thriller !!!

Thank you netgalley for letting me have a copy of this book I absolutely loved it. It's about a lady called Thea who is accused of killing her baby son by leaving him in a car after an afternoon out with her daughter Nell and her friend called Isla. The only trouble is she has a form of amnesia and can't remember what happened on that day, but gradually memories or what she thinks are memories start to return and it is not quite how she was told it had happened. Does she believe these memories or is it her mind playing tricks on her and making her think this is what happens. Who does she trust. It was an absolutely gripping read had me hooked from the start I just had to keep going to find out what happens. I liked all the characters and how the story was told would really recommend this book.

This was good and crazy, crazy good. You know that something awful has happened right from the beginning but what exactly, and how, is the question. Then you are told the answer... but is it the right one?

This is quite chilling in that I truly felt the pain of this mother, Thea, but the thought of what she had to live with was unimaginable. The characters were well developed and interesting. There are twists and red herrings aplenty and my feelings toward the characters shifted at times.

The reveal was quite good and shocking. I thought of so many scenarios but not this one, this way. The epilogue is probably unnecessary but ok. I was quite entertained by this book and will look forward to more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Harper Impulse and Killer Reads for a copy in exchange for a review.

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins and the author for the opportunity to read this arc.

I found the beginning to be quite slow but it soon gathered pace. I liked Thea, could relate to some of her feelings as a mother. I found her husband to be quite unlikable and selfish. As time went on we learned so many secrets being kept by all the characters in the story even the children!
I really had no idea whodunit until the very end - which to me makes for a great book! I really recommend you read this, preferably curled up all cost with a hot chocolate on a cold, dreary day...... Enjoy.....☺

Thea and Rupert are parents to Nell and baby Zander. Thea runs a mail order children’s clothing company called Just Enfant. Thea has a long time friend, Isla, with whom she often goes out and they end up drinking way too much.

Flora lives with Isla and helps her with the business. They are good friends and the children enjoy Flora as well.

One day, Thea and Isla, along with Nell and Zander had gone out for the day. The women once again drank too much and when they got home, they started drinking even more and fell asleep on the sofa. The day was a scorcher. Thea was awakened by her friend, Flora who had baby Zander in her arms. The poor child was dead as he had been left in the hot car. How could Thea leave her baby in the car?? Now, she is shunned by neighbors and Rupert hates her.

Now, Thea and Rupert are estranged and Thea is facing a trial for the death of Zander. She is allowed to have Nell stay with her several days a week. Thea still drinks from time to time but works hard to control it.

Annabelle and her husband, Greg, are like a golden couple. They are the parents of 3 children, live in a huge home, and Annabelle is a wonderful cook, mother, hostess, and wife. Greg has a fabulous job and Annabelle runs her own events business. Flora is now living with her and working with her business and are quite successful with it. Annabelle's daughter, Millie, is good friends with Thea’s daughter, Nell, and the girls get together frequently.

As Thea’s trial comes closer, Thea is now second guessing herself about what happened that day. Although she was very drunk, she can’t help but think there is no way she would have left her baby to die in that hot car. Or did she?

Could it be possible that Thea is innocent or is she just fantasizing her innocence? Who would be evil enough to purposely place a baby in a car and leave him to die?

This compelling book builds slowly and we get to know the different characters and how they interact with one another. This is a very good book and the horror of what a parent would face in a case like this is straight out of the headlines where, sadly, we read about it happening often. The end was really surprising. I think readers will really enjoy this one. I did and highly recommend it.

Am I Guilty begins like pretty much every other domestic thriller, but it's when the sense of creeping unease becomes palpable after the first couple of chapters that it truly picks up speed and continues to hurtle down the line like a runaway train. Whether mother Thea actually has amnesia, has a problem with repressed memories something humans do to forget or is purely an unreliable narrator is rather unclear for most the novel and adds to its unpredictable charm. Couple this with prejudicial small-town gossip and eyeballing aplenty the accusation of what she did and how she failed in the most spectacular way as a mother has the power to bring her down and completely destroy her as a person.

Packed full of real emotion and many twists, turns and instances of backstabbing, this book encapsulates why we should all think things through a little more before proceeding as the consequences have the potential to be catastrophic. Well written with a small cast of interesting characters and those with ulterior motives; I thoroughly enjoyed this and found it struck the perfect balance between keeping the thrills and surprises coming, moving along at pace and being quite an emotive story.

Many thanks to Killer Reads for an ARC.

I do recommend you read the book, just try to keep in mind, you will be affected emotionally
