The chemistry between Lucas and Trinity is undeniable. But there is one major factor stopping them from exploring it further, Lucas is her brother in laws divorce lawyer. And conflict of interest doesn’t allow him to date Trinity. For how long will they be able to ignore attraction as Hot as theirs.
Illegally yours is a fun read. It is funny, HOT, sweet, and romantic. They both have emotional scars that made them that much more likable to me. A book that was hard to put down and once over left me wanting more. Can’t wait to read Grant and Aubrey’s book.
Kate Meader is quickly becoming a must read romance author for me. Something about her quick witted characters with scorching hot chemistry works. Illegally Yours is no exception to the rule. In it, Lucas is a nonstop ball of British energy who sees Trinity working at a bar. Their chemistry is instant, but Trinity is less than impressed with his frat boy antics. Of course, there's always more to the story and the rest of Lucas's story is a doozy. Then there's the fact that he's also representing Trinity's brother-in-law in her sister's divorce. Nothing about this couple should work but it does. Kinda like the shorts Lucas wears when he's coaching kid's soccer.
While I definitely likes this book better than the first book in this series, it is still not one of my favorites by the author. I loved Trinity. She is the type of heroine I would love to be friends with., and not just because I love whisky. Lucas I did not love as much. He was a little too much for me.. I am not fond of manic, jokey heroes and his over the top personality grated on my nerves. Still the way they met and how their relationship developed despite being on opposite sides of a heated divorce was really interesting. Despite my dislike of Lucas this could have ended up a four star read for me but I found the ending hokey with too much left unsatisfactorily resolved.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Illegally Yours by Kate Meader is Book 2 of the Laws of Attraction series. While part of a series, this story can be read as a standalone.
This was a sweet romance with some definite quirkiness, so much so that I felt it really took away from my enjoyment of the story; I just couldn’t for the life of me take Lucas serious with all his obnoxious and clowning ways. 3 stars.
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
Illegally Yours is the second book in the series and fans will not be disappointed. The chemistry between Trinity and Lucas was a sizzling, slow build that left me wanting more. This book was real and raw and strong and will give you all the feels. 5 chilli peppers of hotness! Thanks Loveswept and NetGalley for the ARC.
Another first author for me. This was a great book. Lucas wright is funny confident and sexy. Trinity is a kick ass woman. Her sister I didn’t care for too much
I love this book. I have never laughed so much in along time while reading a book. The characters are filled with mystery that you hope will come out sooner rather then later. Their is a sadness, but the love, friendship and adoptive family out weighs it all. Not only that but this is one of the few books in which the author has shown growth in major and some minor characters. Most important thing is Lucas and Trinity’s relationship went through so much trial and tribulations, but they never gave up on each other.
I gave it 3 tries and just couldn’t get past the first 2 chapters!
Both the H and h were completely unlikable. I really enjoy Kate Meador and LOVED the first one in the series but could just not get into this one. The H was just incredibly unlikable to the point I just couldn’t keep reading.
Hoping the next one is better!!
Received an arc for an honest review
I love love and this book gave you love of family, love of a significant other, and love of yourself. Adversity, breeds much strength. In finding each other, Trinity and Lucas were forced to face those personal challenges, but were able to do it together. I enjoyed watching them find their way to each other. The romance. The heat. The struggle. Ingredients for a good story.
Illegally Yours by Kate Meader made me reminisce about the the fun of Harry Potter books and the amazing tastes of Scottish whiskeys - neat, of course ;)
Apart from HP and whiskey, you'll also get
- a tough-on-the-outside-goo-on-the-inside hero
- a kick-a** sommelier heroine
- sexy fun and family drama
- a hot scene involving a scrunched together pair of leather pants that somehow reminded me of a scene with Ross in FRIENDS.
The dual 1st POV worked well and the story absolutely worked even though I have not yet read book no. 1 in the series. This book definitely made me wanna read the previous one though and I cannot wait for the third in the series!
P.S. I'm aware that the cover has been changed to the current version and I absolutely agree with the new picture. It's stunning!
P.P.S. I've received an #ARC via #NetGalley. This review is based on my own opinion and thoughts.

A good book to sit back and relax with but unfortunately I just didn't feel any connection to this or any of the characters. Despite the author's great writing, I just didn't resonate with the story. I do want to give kudos to the author for having a POC main character. Overall just not my cup of tea.
Lucas and Trinity find each other on opposite sides of the courtroom as Lucas represents Trinity's sisters soon to be ex-husband. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, Lucas is drawn to her like never before, but he is not going down in the case without a fight. He does not care that his client is an awful person, he just wants the win.
Decisions to win the case or win her heart.
What an awesome, inspirational book by Kate Meader. There were parts in this book my heart was in my throat - while pulling at my heart strings. The story of Trinity Jones and Lucas Wright is more than just a story it's a journey and the author takes you on that with them. Sometimes when the baggage of life gets to much, you need to share it with someone you love.
Here we have the second in the "Laws of Attraction Series." I enjoyed the first one, this one leaves me puzzled why I failed to connect. The set-up is cute: He's a cut-throat divorce attorney representing a Very Bad Man and she's the sister of the Wronged Wife. Trinity has to play Mama Bear for her helpless sister while Lucas is torn apart fighting his attraction to Trinity versus his duty to score the win for Very Bad Man.
It's seldom I don't feel any strong reactions to character, plot, or writing, which leaves me little to review. Those who like Kate Meader will probably like this too. I see it's tagged under humor but that escaped me as well. The older woman/younger man "issue," if it is one, was dealt with summarily as was the interracial aspect of their romance. In a way, the reader is set up for conflicts that never emerge. Maybe that's why I had a hard time maintaining interest.

Thank you Kate Meader and Random House for allowing me to read and review Illegally Yours! Full review will be posted shortly.
Fun, yet serious. A quick read, perfect while on a holiday, which is when I read this. The characters definitely kept me interested, engaged, and intrigued.
I like all books by this author, at least, so far. :)
I wasn't quite sure how to rate this. I liked the hero and heroine and the fact that the heroine was a WOC and older than the hero. However, I had a hard time with the ethical conflict in the book. The hero knew that there was a conflict, but continued to pursue the heroine. The ethical issue gets resolved in the book. but it could/should have been resolved much earlier. Also, the heroine knew that the hero was representing her brother-in-law in the divorce, but she still got involved with him. I'm an attorney so the ethical conflict probably bothered me more than it would for another reader and made it really difficult for me to get into the book.
That being said, the book has some great banter, especially between the secondary characters. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series to find out what happened between Aubrey and Grant.
Mini Review:::
I really enjoyed this one!!! Both protagonists were funny and genuine and relatable. I felt that the male lead's feelings were a bit.......abrupt???? In their second conversation, he concludes that they're spending their life together, which he confesses to her. I love insta-love, but this book didn't feel like it was meant to be insta-love. So, that was a bit unsettling to dive directly into.
But overall, this book features a wholesome romance, family, and real laughter :)
I could recommend for anyone wanting to read a quick, sweet love story.

I've read a few books by Kate Meader before, so I'm familiar with her writing. Illegally Yours is funny, sexy, and sniffle inducing. Lucas is a divorce attorney that unexpectedly finds himself falling for his client's sister-in-law. Trinity is used to taking care of everyone else. She finds herself out of her comfort zone when Lucas steps in to take care of her and ends up making her more self aware. I really enjoyed reading this story and seeing both the hero and heroine work through their own self failings to discover the love they have for each other.
Kate Meader’s Illegally Yours is a masterpiece of emotions. Her writing, and this story, made me laugh out loud, swoon at the sweetness, and cry at the heartache. Illegally Yours is a wonderful story of two wounded people, that on paper shouldn’t be together, but can’t fight the feelings developing.
Lucas is a hero with an injured heart. He is gorgeous, has a great job and is involved in the community. He meets Trinity at a bar and is instantly smitten. He tries, very unsuccessfully (and humorously) to woo Trinity. Although he doesn’t walk away with a date, he does leave after having caught Trinity’s eye and her business card.
Trinity is a strong and independent woman. She has spent years taking care of her family, sacrificing taking care of her own wants and needs. Initially she fights off her attraction to Lucas (he is 6 years younger and her sister’s soon to be ex-husband’s divorce lawyer) but she realizes that he could be just what she is looking for...a door back into the dating game and life. What she doesn’t expect is how important Lucas will become to her happiness.
Both characters are impacted by early life events that have forced them to assume certain roles. Lucas is the happy-go-lucky flirt out for a good time and Trinity is the provider ensuring that her family is protected. But below the surface, Lucas & Trinity are suffering. It takes their relationship to open each up to reconciling the past and looking towards the future.
The author creates such wonderful banter between the characters. The story is so engaging that even though I wanted Lucas & Trinity to reach their HEA, I didn’t want the book to end! This was my first Kate Meader book, but it won’t be my last. If you are looking for a fun read that touches your heart, consider Illegally Yours a must read!
