At 27, Lucas Wright is the youngest attorney in the law firm he works for. He’s always been sort of a brainiac. He’s also known as the office clown, always with a good laugh. While attending a bachelor party at a swanky type of speakeasy, he sets eyes on the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen, who also happens to be the whiskey expert. Trying his best to get her attention just for himself, sort of backfires, since he practically makes an arse of himself.
Trinity Jones, loves her job as a whiskey sommelier. She’s very proud of her degree. When a hunky British man tries to win her attention at a tasting bachelor party, Trinity isn’t sure what to make of this guy. He’s funny and trying his best to get her attention. One thing she can say for sure, is that Lucas is persistent. It is undeniable that they do have a strong chemistry, but Trinity has her family to worry about and getting involved. Her sister. Is going thru a nasty divorce and she needs to be there for her and her nephew and niece. Then she finds out that Lucas is the attorney for her sister’s husband. Just as they were getting to know each other.
Not be deterred, Lucas will not give up a chance in happiness, so he sets out to get a written consent from his client so he can date Trinity. But things don’t always go as planned. First of his past keeps him from being honest with Trinity, and he can also sense that she has secrets of her own.
This is really a beautiful love story, with twists and turns that will keep you up till all, hours reading. But you will be glad you did.

I enjoyed this storyline and all the characters. Lucas was an arrogant divorce attorney that I adored and found myself rooting for while reading. Trinity I wanted to dislike because she didn’t put herself first, instead being too giving and giving in too easily to everyone else’s demands. When they meet it certainly created one heck of a conflict that was fun to watch and had me turning the pages wanting to know their outcome. This is one I recommend for all looking for a second chance at life and romance for two deserving characters.

There is so much that I want to say about this book and I really have no idea where to start. I absolutely LOVED this book. I really want to read Then Came You now it's the next one in the Laws of Attraction series. I absolutely adore the nerdiness that goes throughout this book. Dr. Who, Harry Potter and so much more. It makes my inner nerd scream out with joy. It also has the main female character in a career that generally is a man ran field which is absurd. I love whiskey. Thank you for making Lucas my new book boyfriend. The romance that is between these two is absolutely off the charts! The heart in the story makes you want the book to never end but also see how it ends. Some of the lessons you may learn along with the characters is just outstanding! I highly suggest this romance to anyone who loves a good romance. Keep an eye out for it to be published on January 22, 2019!

If you’re looking for a sexy, unrepentant flirt, and life of the party hero to add some heat to your life, look no further than divorce attorney Lucas Wright of Illegally Yours.

Super smart, inordinately charming and witty, Lucas can have any woman he wants until he meets Trinity Jones, his client’s soon to be ex-sister-in-law. Trinity is smoking hot, strong and independent, super protective of her younger sister and completely irresistible to hotshot Brit, who can’t help but fall for her no matter how hard he tries to resist her and the ethical complication she poses.

Meader writes with effortless charm and a skilled hand plunging Lucas and Trinity headfirst into their attraction while adding complications to their push-pull interactions. I can never wait to dive into her books because of her swoon worthy heroes and Lucas is no exception. I feel for him and his self-assured inner monologues and unapologetic seductive ways from page one and couldn’t put the book down until I hit the end.

I just can’t say enough about this man. Besides his appealing British accent and all the things I’ve mentioned before, he’s patient and willing to play the long game. He’s sincere and honest and found ways to help and woo Trinity despite the ethical hurdle that was between him and Trinity.

I was a bit put off by Trinity’s overprotective, helicopter sister tendencies which enabled to drive a wedge between her and Lucas, but understood Lucas’ difficulties with letting go of his past which were justified given the magnitude of what he underwent.

With this story of two scarred people who help one another find happiness, Meader presents a super sensual, playful and heartfelt story.

Illegally Yours is book #2 of the Laws of Attraction series by author Kate Meader. It is a standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view.

Divorce attorney Lucas Wright has discovered Ms Perfect at a bachelor party whiskey tasting, and it's highly inconvenient for them both!

For one thing, her sister is divorcing his client, but that comes out later. For another, she's the sommelier and he makes a drunken smartass first impression. Third, her nephew is on the youth soccer team he's coaching and she's a very hands-on aunt. They keep running into each other and the chemistry is unlike any he's felt before. Then she comes down with a cold and he can play the white knight for her, even if it means losing a client who thinks he's throwing it to the opposing side...

He's ready to take all the skeletons out of his own closet for the love of Trinity Jones. Can he convince her that he's willing to play for keeps? Will she stand up for her own happiness and not her baby sister's alone?

This relationship has Layers. Being soccer-mom eye candy will never again be enough for Lucas.

Fantastic book! This is one of the best romances I've read in awhile. I loved the build up to the relationship, from their unconventional beginning, the interactions and quirks of the characters were endearing and completely pulled me in. I loved how no one person was wholly right or wrong, but made it easy to see both sides of the situation. I really enjoyed the storytelling from the two different perspectives, it felt more like reliving the memory of how they came to be, than just being told a story. Lucas and Trinity were so hot together. For me, this book is a definite must read.

I loved every part of this book. From the interrracial couple angle to the beautifully written prose. What I appreciate the most was how real these people seemed to me. I liked that the lead character was in a non-traditional for an AA woman role. Yes! We can be/do anything!!! Thank you, dear author.

I didn’t finish this book. I got so lost or wrapped up in the divorce and how awful the father is described and yet his attorney is going after custody of the kids when it is all money driven and not because he wants to be with them. After we established that info it was hard to like the attorney for anything else much less root for him to find love. I just couldn’t do it and so I stopped reading and moved on.

Divorce attorney Lucas Wright met sommelier Trinity Jones and is instantly attracted. Unfortunately for him when they meet at a later date, Lucas has been retained as the lawyer for Trinity's brother in law. Both characters were ok for me. We were constantly reminded of Lucas and his British charm and maybe it was just too much. I wish there had been more scenes with Trinity in her professional capacity. I did feel she was overprotective of her sister and that became frustrating for me as the story developed.

I received an ARC via Net Galley.

I always look forward to Kate Meader's books. I think that she's one of the most underrated authors in the Contemporary Romance genre'.
I was so happy to get my hands on Illegally Yours.
I'm not fond of attorneys in real life, but I've enjoyed the endless possibilities when a Hero or Heroine is an attorney in Romancelandia
In this case, Lucas is a divorce attorney, Trinity, the heroine is a whiskey sommelier. Lucas, is out with some friends when meets Trinity. He's a little drunk and (of course) makes a fool of himself. His attempts at flirting fall flat. Trinity is no fool. She is, however, attracted to Lucas.
Somehow, Lucas gets another chance. Trinity and Lucas have instant chemistry. The sparks fly. Oh, did I mention that Lucas is a sexy Brit, staying in the U.S.?
Trinity has taken care of her sister Emily, even after they've grown. Emily is a mother of 2 kids-
and is going through a messy divorce.
I loved how Lucas is so determined to find a way to be Trinity-even with the conflict with his job.
I don't want to give too much away, but I will say, I loved the writing, the characters, their flaws and strengths. My least favorite- didn't like at all was Emily's soon to be ex-husband Brian. I really didn't like Emily either. Trinity loves her sister. Trinity is the strong one. Emily seemed to know how to just let her sister handle things for her.
Sounds like a hot mess. It sounds like a slice of life. Thank God, not mine!
Trinity is conflicted and feels guilty when she's happy with Lucas.
Lucas still has ties to the UK. I won't say anymore. I loved these two. I wanted the jerks to get out of their way. Lucas goes back and forth to London fairly often. He's a wonderfully reliable guy. How did he get to be a divorce attorney?
I loved this story and want to read it again (or the audio!). I loved her Chicago Rebels (hockey) series & Hot in Chicago series. I received an ARC from Netgalley 5 stars!
This can be a standalone. Small roles with book #1 H & h Max and Charlie.

Illegally Yours started off rocky for me, but I grew to love Trinity and Lucas along with their ragtag group of friends. Trinity and Lucas met on page one as Lucas attended a whiskey-tasting party that Trinity was working. The attraction was immediate which typically isn't my cup of tea, but both had obstacles to overcome that had me rooting for them. Trinity considered herself responsible for her family's happiness and often her own took the backseat. Lucas smiled his way through everything and truth be told, he was a bit too much until I understood his story and values. Both characters underwent some major growth and I was surprised that I was able to see both sides of the story when the inevitable fight happened. This is my first book from the Laws of Attraction series and I'll be sure to start from the beginning.

This is my first time reading this author and I was truly delighted. Trinity and Lucas' story was everything. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts. The secondary characters enhanced the story line and brought both comic relief and realism to the story. Worth the read.

ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review.

Another wonderfully written romance by the great Kate Meader! When Hottie, badass Brit attorney, Lucas Wright, hooks up with Trinity Jones, a sexy whiskey sommelier, he didn’t realize it would be a conflict of interest. He represents Trinity’s sister’s douchey almost ex-husband, and she is extremely overprotective of her.

This forbidden romance has humor, angst, love, sex, attitude, heartache and all the feels! I enjoyed it and would recommend it! The characters were great, the storyline was great, and Kate Meader is always a joy to read!

Illegally Yours is the second book in the Laws of Attraction series by Kate Meader. The series follows a trio of lawyers who opened a law firm together as they fumble their way toward that happily ever after. The first book, Down with Love, featured the first friend, Max Henderson. He fell in love with the wedding planner that was planning his brother's wedding and Illegally Yours follows the second friend, Lucas Wright, as he falls for the sommelier who hosts the bachelor party that all of the boys attend.

There was a small hiccup surrounding the first cover of this book a few weeks ago and I was a little disappointed with the way that the author handled the whole situation. Lucky for her, the publisher came right in and fixed the issue and the new cover featured a more appropriate heroine and I was super glad because the heroine on the new cover? That is Trinity freaking Jones.

Anyway, so this book starts off at the bachelor party and Lucas sees Trinity for the first time. He is immediately attracted to her but even though Trinity thinks he's a good-looking man, she also thinks that he's an asshole so he's not for her. Lucas starts trying to charm the socks off of Trinity and gets a drink poured over his head for his troubles. I actually thought their meet cute was a cute one...and I also really enjoyed seeing their romance blossom.

Trinity's sister is going through a pretty nasty divorce and Trinity is doing everything in her power to support her because her soon to be ex-brother in law is a real piece of work and when she finds out that Lucas is his attorney, she's really off the Lucas Wright train. Lucas struggles with that conflict of interest because he wants Trinity and he wants her bad. Seeing that struggle made their story more interesting and I thought it was handled well.

Both Trinity and Lucas are really going through it in this book. Trinity with the heavy weight of the family burdens that she takes on her shoulders, trying to be there for her sister at the same time have her own life is hard for Trinity and she didn't know how tight she held the reins around that until Lucas came into her life. Being with Lucas was going to be hard on her sister and yet, not being with Lucas was hard on her.

There was a lot more to Lucas than I first thought. When we met him in Down with Love, he was loud and crass and I didn't think there was much there but boy was I wrong. He's got family issues that would make me cry and I loved seeing him open his world up to Trinity. Sure, they fumbled their way around for a little bit but I thought Meader did a great job of telling their story in a way that kept me right in the center of it all.

Overall, this book was a solid romance and even though I liked it, I didn't love it the way that I loved her hockey books but still, this is a good read and I recommend it if you're in the mood for some lawyer loving. Lucas is great and Trinity is fabulous heroine who you will be cheering for.

Lucas and Trinity have a hot chemistry, but can’t be together due to Lucas representing Trinity’s sister’s soon to be ex-husband. I enjoyed Trinity’s devotion to her sister and her family, but Lucas really stands out with his British accent and snarky humor. If you have enjoyed previous Kate Meader books, I think you will also enjoy this one.

After meeting at a bachelor party whiskey tasting, Lucas Wright can't seem to get the gorgeous sommelier out of his head. Likewise, Trinity Jones can't seem to get the whiskey-adverse, wise-cracking, lawyer out of her mind.

On the verge of taking the next step, any plans they may have made are put on hold when it comes out that Lucas is representing Trinity's soon to be ex-brother-in-law in divorce proceedings against Trinity's younger sister.

Regardless, these two are never far from each other's orbit, and as they keep running into each other, their own lives are put into perspective, but can being on opposing sides bring them closer together or will it push them farther apart?

I'll admit it took me a minute to reconcile the Lucas from Down With Love with this Lucas in Illegally Yours. He shines so much brighter in his own book, and for me, this one surpasses its predecessor.

For one, I thought the predicament in which Trinity and Lucas find themselves to be quite the conflict and Kate Meader does a really great job of giving readers both sides of the story without one side being more in the right than the other. The fact that in a divorce both sides, typically, have good and bad points based on how you look at things. Obviously this is not true in every case, but it applies to Lucas and Trinity's.

I really loved the way that Trinity and Lucas's stories unfolded. The details of their experiences and their pasts that have colored the way they are in the present and have had profound effects upon them. I liked that it wasn't all apparent from the beginning, but more like peeling back layers until we get the full picture and it all hearkens back to family.

When Trinity was younger, after the death of her mother, she found herself in the maternal role with her younger sister. Trying to make sure her sister wanted for nothing, she overcompensated and, now, she finds herself indispensable in her sister's life, especially now as she's going through a divorce and with two children. The problem is: Trinity has forgotten to live her own life. Now, with Lucas, she's giving the chance to live her own life, but the decision is not as simple as it looks.

Similarly, Lucas grew up in a family situation that wasn't exactly the healthiest or the best. His mother was more interested in being a free spirit than actually taking care of anyone else. Understanding the need for stability at such a young age shaped his decision to go into family law. Further experiences in his youth still have repercussions on his adult life just like with Trinity. They both have to learn how to move forward with their own lives, and the fact that sometimes it's ok.

The connection between Lucas and Trinity it wonderful. I really liked them together as a couple and I liked who they were individually. I don't think their story would have worked so well if they both didn't find themselves in the singular before they found themselves together as a couple.

As with the first book, we get little teases of former couple Grant and Aubrey. I look forward to seeing how things play out with the exes in the next book.

Kate Meader has quickly become a favorite and an author I can always count on to deliver a top notch story and romance. Illegally Yours is no different.

This is turning into a great book series. I really enjoy the development of Lucas & Trinity. It’s also nice to see the other characters. I can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend reading this & enjoying the series!

I had a little trouble with this book at the beginning. It seemed almost contrived. It's not easy crafting an interracial, inter-cultural older woman-younger man romance and when you add all the family drama, it almost felt like the author was trying to do too much. However, I was able to finish this book and I am glad I did. Lucas was someone that I could relate to. We all put on masks to hide all the vulnerable parts. And Trin trying to be the protector, well, older siblings know what that's like. At times, this book was a bit painful to read. But that's because the elements of reality were all there. I don't know about you, but I need some real with my books, otherwise, I get bored with their perfect, billionaire lives. Well done, Ms. Meader. Looking forward to the conclusion of the series with Then Came You.

Illegally Yours (Laws of Attraction #2) by Kate Meader is the next book in the series. However the 1st book does not have to be read in order to read this book. I can say I have not read the first book and it didn't effect this story. Lucas is a hot shot divorce attorney who at a Whiskey tasting meets a woman who rocks his world. Trinity is a sommelier. Whiskey is her area of expertise. During an event she meets meets a loud, silly, very charming and sexy man. She has a an interaction with Lucas that many can see the sexual tension between the two of them. When Trinity feels her sister's lawyer is not fighting for her, she goes to Lucas's firm for help. She finds out Lucas is representing her sister's soon to be cheating ex husband. Due to that fact the relationship Lucas and Trinity had hoped to starts is put in jeopardy. I loved this story. I loved Lucas, between his British wit and his compassionate spirit I couldn't get enough of him. He is any woman's dream man. The interaction between Lucas and Trinity kept me engaged in their story from beginning to end. I can tell you i didn't get much sleep. A true love story. 5 stars for me.

I love this series for many reasons but one of the things I like and appreciate the most is how Kate Meader puts the most unlikely of couples together but then really sells it! I love Lucas and Trinity together and was really rooting for them to find a way over that giant ethical hurdle that was holding them back from going for it. Lucas is a bit obnoxious at times but he is so charming, fun and goofy I couldn't stop from loving him. He is a divorce attorney who specializes in father's rights. When I found out about his past and the emotional trauma taking place in his present, it was so easy to fall for him. Trinity is just awesome. She is older than Lucas but that is no problem in my opinion. They definitely balance each other out. She has a very cool job as a whiskey sommelier and that is how she meets Lucas. They soon find out they cannot be together though because he is representing her sister's soon to be ex-husband in her divorce and she is very close to her sister.
Wonderful characters and a great flow to the story make this another wonderful read in this series. I am really looking forward to Grant & Aubrey's book.
