The premise of this book had me hooked from the beginning. A women shows up at a small village, outside a home that she is positive is hers. Her phone, wallet, handbag, keys have all been stolen and she can’t remember her name. The only problem is, there are another couple living in the home.

This story wasn’t what I expected, with lots of twists and turns that went in unexpected directions it made for a good read. I will pick up more from this author in the future.

1 star.

This actually upsets me a bit because it sounded like it was going to be so good, so my hopes were high. I just couldn't get into this. At the beginning it wasn't so bad. The story seemed to be heading somewhere. But the more I read the more questions I had and then it just got confusing. I stop feeling what little connection I did have and became uninterested in it. I think the bit that confused me the most was the ages of the characters. It didn't make sense because we weren't really told. But there were more confusing parts than just that.

I noticed too that the storyline seemed to slow down and I reckon that is what kept making my attention drift and caused me to need to keep re-reading parts.

The idea of this story was what interested me. A lady with amnesia, suddenly turning up on the door step of a home that she thought was hers, only to discover it wasn't and was currently being occupied by a male and female. Unfortunately it just didn't deliver. Thought I will add that I was still a bit curious to see how it ended. I had hoped that it would have improved my thoughts and feelings about this, but it didn't meet my expectations. For these reasons I've stated, I would t recommend it.

The story had me hooked but went in a total different direction than expected. The description of the book is thrown upside down by the lead character as more is revealed. Definitely a good read

I'm afraid I didn't really take to this book. It started quite abruptly and I realise we're meant to be experiencing Jemma's confusion but her story made no sense... at what point on her trip did she stop remembering stuff, for example? It was too outrageous and no one's reaction made sense.

And I'm conscious that we're not supposed to know who to trust or believe but the characters themselves weren't at all consistent so it seemed obvious (Tony and Jemma in particular) had secrets and weren't being forthcoming which frustrated me rather than intrigued me.

Interestingly I kept reading despite that frustration (and felt we went around and around a bit), but I needed to know who, what and why - so that's a good sign that I got a little pulled into the story.

Ultimately though I just didn't engage with any of the characters (was rather confused about everyone's ages also!) and didn't find the underlying motive as believable or feasible as I would have liked.

This is not your typical amnesia thriller. If you think you know what's going on, keep reading, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I liked the way we got insight into the lead detective's personal life, I liked the story idea, and I valued the depth of the message,

A psychological thriller about a woman who can’t remember her name, she turns up at house in a small Wiltshire Village claiming she lives there. Her handbag, identity documents, keys and phone have been stolen. She remembers the house and the layout of the rooms but nothing recent.
This book grabbed my interest from the start, it was about identity, memory loss, families, friendship, murder, revenge and grief.
