I felt like I needed a moment to breathe when I read this. The action went from one scene to the next, just as you thought it was okay to relax something else happened. This is Brady St. John's story, he comes from a family of law enforcement and emergency personnel so you get glimpses of the other family members that are in the series. Brady is on a much needed vacation when he hears screams coming from the wooded area he is staying in. After a rescue of Emily Chastain, a financial crimes investigator, Brady is drawn into a case involving human trafficking. This is book #3 in the series. It is action packed from the beginning to the end.

For those who have been following the St. John siblings in Lynette Eason’s Blue Justice series, it’s Brady’s turn. This time, he falls into his situation while on a much needed vacation.

As usual, Eason’s main focus is on the investigation with a few romantic moments in the mix. I appreciated Emily’s strong faith set against Brady’s doubt and questions. Both characters are easy to like and connect with.

There is a lot happening in this one. The book even opens with a different character than Emily or Brady, and at times, there are almost too many bad guys at cross-purposes. Add to that the St. John brood, some dive team members (fans of Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team Investigations series will recognize a few friends), and readers who are new to this series are apt to find themselves a bit lost from time to time.

Thankfully, I’ve read the other Blue Justice Books (as well as the Blackburn’s books), so keeping track of most of the characters wasn’t a huge issue. And while this was an enjoyable, entertaining read, it wasn’t my favorite in the series. But that’s okay because there are two more single St. John brothers!

Title: Code of Valor

Author: Lynette Eason

Series: Blue Justice book 3

Chapters: 29

Pages: 336

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Code of Valor is the third book in the Blue Justice series, set in South Carolina that follows a family of cops by Lynette Eason. It takes place over a total of 18 days. This book focuses on Brady St John I believe the oldest St John son I could be wrong. He's a detective and a member of the dive team. Brady's supposed to be on vacation at a family friend’s lake cabin when he literally pulls a case out of the water, when he saves a woman from drowning. Emily Chastain who just happens to be a Financial crimes investigator whose life just happens to be in danger. In the process of keeping her safe and trying to figure out what's wrong he ends up dragging his two brothers into Derek a Narcotics officer and member of the swat team a sniper, and Linc an FBI agent. Along the way do to a trip to the hospital he drags his sister Ruthie a doctor into. Isabelle the baby of the family and Derek's twin gets drugged into as a detective that gets called to a shooting. Even though she's now married Brady is still calling her St. John. We see the other sister Chloe briefly with her dog hank.

Even though there wasn't as much St. John family time outside of the job and case in this one as the other two. It still gave me the Blue Bloods feel of a close knit law enforcement family. I guess that because I come from my own blue family even though I didn't go into law enforcement myself. I enjoyed this one and read it fairly quickly finishing it in about 12 hours. Over the course of two days. I look forward to Ruthie's story in a novella called Code of Ethics. and Linc's story in Vow of Justice the last book in the series though I am kind of sad that Derek won't get his own book. Lynette Eason is one of my go to for Christian Romantic Suspense or Christian Suspense in general.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

This is the first book that I have read in this story, which is not something I generally like to do. I did not feel like I missed out on a lot when reading this book. It stands well on it's own. I loved the suspenseful story and the romantic characters in this thriller. Now I have to go back and read the other books in this series.

Code of Valor by Lynette Eason

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Story Notes

Lynette Eason dives (pun intended) back into the Blue Justice series with a focus on Detective Brady St. John and his quest help a victim fight back, find a murderer and, maybe find his way back to the God he used to trust.

Wow, did this book ever pack a punch! It started with action almost immediately and the fear gripping the victim was palpable. Lynette Eason has a way of making her stories very realistic without going into the unnecessary gore that other authors use for shock factor. And her main characters are the “good guys”, with enough flaws to make them charmingly human and likable. This story begins with a glimpse into the minds and conversations of some very bad people – those willing to kill to keep a secret. As they argue over price and leverage, the plans for the deaths of innocent people are concocted and swiftly put into place. And two young women seeking the truth will find more than just money is the price for services rendered. Emily Chastain is a financial crimes investigator who has stumbled onto criminal accounts that are staying under the radar. The appearance of a former boyfriend known for his questionable connections first alerts her to the accounts existence. Her best friend, Heather Gilstrap, is an investigative reporter trying to make a name for herself. When the two discuss the supposed criminal activity they determine to find out what is going on by themselves, until tragedy strikes and leaves Emily fighting for her life after she was dropped into a lake with her hands tied. Detective Brady St. John was enjoying (sort of) a break from the hustle of his job at a friend’s cabin on the lake. Witnessing the attempted murder of a woman was not on his list of plans for the weekend, but he cannot stop being a cop. Rushing to the rescue, Brady pulls the woman to shore and takes her inside to get her warm. Wanting to know what happened but also aware she will be wary of everyone just now, Brady slowly asks questions to try to piece what happened together. But Emily’s explanation is quickly interrupted by the arrival of more adversaries. Escaping the house is no small miracle and a cold trek through the woods to find another nearby cabin becomes the hope of getting help. Emily’s injuries keep her from going with Brady to a second cabin when the first doesn’t have a landline available. But he returns just in time to prevent a third attempt on Emily’s life. As Brady and Emily delve into the criminal activity she and Heather had been investigating, they will uncover a network of people willing to do anything and use anyone to keep what they have and possibly gain more money in the process. But to ensure the safety of everyone involved will require both Brady and Emily to be honest and share secrets they hoped no one else would ever know. And if they stand a chance at having a real relationship they will have to trust each other and God with their deepest hurts and betrayals. I loved every page of this book. Ms. Eason created great characters that were emotionally and spiritually broken, but who found strength to defend the innocent. Emily carries deep scars from her past and is still struggling to find acceptance from others. Fractured family relationships contribute to her struggle but with Brady she is slowly learning that its okay to not be just like anyone else. Brady has become apathetic towards God and bitter against love. His struggle to let anyone close again is hard held and will require stronger love than he has ever know, both from God and Emily. The lessons they will both learn as they work through all the clues are many and I found myself looking to see if I needed to learn any of them. The well-flowing plot left no place for empty conversations or thoughts and this made the book stand out from others in the same genre. Ms. Eason carries the themes of love, forgiveness and family throughout this series but gives each story its own way of looking at and playing these themes out. I cannot wait to see where she will take this series and whom will be her next focus. Very well done!!

Financial Investigator Emily Chastain finds her life endangered after her friend Heather sends her some mysterious pictures which she never receives. Emily is assaulted after work and set afloat on a boat on a lake.

Detective Brady St John is enjoying a relaxing vacation by the lake when he hears a woman's screams. He rescues her from the lake and finds himself wrapped up into protecting Emily, while she tries to find out who is after her and why.

A fast paced, action packed read, Brady and Emily are constantly on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of the people who made Heather disappear, and who are now after them.

Emily doesn't know who she can trust, but as she fights to stay one step ahead of the people after her she unravels more of the mystery learning more about her plight. She is clever, and resilient. I loved how relatable she is, she isn't the perfect Barbie type, and struggles with self confidence and body image.

As Brady gets to know Emily, he is drawn to her strength, and her strong faith. He admires her and wants to do what he can to keep her safe and stop whoever is after them. Brady is been through some rough break ups in the past, and isn't looking for love, but can't help but be in awe of her quick thinking and bravery.

Overall, a heart racing read that will have you holding onto your seat and gasping for breath! Another great addition to the St. John Saga, I loved the tension, suspense, and just how down to earth and relatable Emily was. One thing after another has Emily and Brady scrambling for answers. Highly recommend this thrilling adventure!

Code of Valor is the third book in Lynette Eason's Blue Justice series, but it can be read as as stand alone novel. Lynette Eason does not disappoint in her latest book. She wows her readers with a thrilling, action-filled romantic suspense novel that keeps you guessing! I was totally surprised on who the mastermind was in the this novel.

Detective Brady St. John is at a family friend's lake cabin for some time away to relax when he finds himself rescuing financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain from an attacker who is trying to take her life. Their search for answers of who is trying to kill her leads them both into danger, and even a chance at romance for Brady and Emily.

The book reminded a lot of the TV show Blue Bloods, which is one of my favorite shows. The St. John family is large family in which 5 of the 6 St. John siblings are involved in law enforcement, and their mother is the chief of police. I love the family dynamic between the six St. John siblings and how they still get together for family dinners despite their busy schedules.

This novel deals with criminals who are involved in human trafficking, but does not get into specifics like the second book in the series did. This book mainly focuses on the financial aspect of it as the hero and heroine are investigating the transferring of large sums of money to various accounts as it relates to the storyline. Once again, it was evident that Lynette Eason had done impeccable research when writing this novel. Code of Valor focused on the themes of forgiveness and redemption. The St. John family's strong belief in God helped them face the difficult situations they encounter in their daily lives. During the difficult situations, some of the characters questioned why God let certain things happen, but they came to the realization that people have free will and make their own choices, whether it be good or bad.

I also liked the fact that the heroine of the story was not a size 2 blonde. She had chin length brown hair and was a couple sizes bigger than the typical heroine described in books. Her self-esteem issues throughout the book are issues that many of the readers can relate to.

I know readers will fall in love with the St. John family just like I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series when Linc St. John gets his own story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Revell Publishing and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine. (After reading the copy from NetGalley, I enjoyed the book so much that I also purchased my own paperback copy!)

Suspense and secrets!

Detective Brady St. John was counting on a relaxing vacation... he never dreamed it would turn into rescuing someone from a killer. Emily Chastain isn't sure how much she can trust Brady to tell him the details of the secret project she has been working on. However, keeping secrets just might get them both killed!

This is another action packed story! I love reading about the St. John siblings. Also, another added bonus is having the members of the Carrington dive team from Lynn Blackburn's books make an appearance. Both of these series are amazing and I highly recommend reading them!

The newest Blue Justice series installment follows Brady St. John and is sure to please readers with a wild and crazy adventure!
While trying to get some much needed relaxation time, Brady St. John takes a vacation only to be interrupted. He has rented a friend’s lake cabin when he hears screams. He races to rescue a woman as she is about to be killed. The killer escapes but quickly comes back to finish the job putting them both in danger. Emily Chastain is a financial crimes investigator and has had a hard time trusting people since she was a young girl. With a past she is trying to escape, she tries to help those around her and somehow finds herself a target. Together with Brady and his siblings, Emily will try to solve a crime and stay alive.
This is exactly what I have come to expect from Lynette Eason. Action packed suspense with just the right amount of romance sprinkled in. As the third book in the Blue Justice series, we get a look into Brady St. John as well as the rest of the family helping to solve the case. I enjoyed the character of Emily, such a vulnerable character with trust issues having to trust Brady and his family to help solve the case and keep her safe. Eason does a fantastic job of creating a story with plenty of twists and turns and characters that are both delightful and delightfully evil.
I liked the way the story was broken up into parts based on the day and time things were occurring. It made the story move quicker and kept track of the time frame events were occurring in. With so many members of the St. John family, it is great to see each member get their own story and still see how all the others are doing as side characters throughout. I’m hoping the next in the series will focus on Linc since we have yet to read his backstory. I recommend this book to fans of Eason and even those who are new to her writing and enjoy romantic suspense. Even though this is the third in a series it can be read as a standalone without missing out on too much.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions express within are my own.

I could not wait to read this book! I have fallen in love with the St. John family and couldn’t wait to hear Brady’s story. Eason has a way of drawing me in and making it impossible to do anything but keep reading to see what happens next. I absolutely loved Emily. She is so unique, and I could relate to her in a lot of ways. She is one of my favorite heroines ever, and I don’t say that lightly. This story drew me in from page one. Eason writes with the perfect ingredients; a spoonful of suspense, a pinch of romance, and a dash of faith. I enjoyed watching the characters grow and learn more about who they were created to be. Code of Valor follows Brady and Emily as they fight to stay one step ahead of an unknown enemy.

Just when Brady thinks he might actually get to relax, trouble appears right outside of his door. Cabin in the woods or not, he is still on guard. When he sees something suspicious his training kicks in. Emily couldn’t have hand picked a better hero, not only is he handsome, but he becomes her protector when she needs it most. Swoon-worthy from the very beginning can she trust her feelings when it comes to Brady?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Suspense. I found myself playing detective trying to figure out who could be chasing them. I can’t wait to see what Eason comes up with next, and am anxiously awaiting my next Blue Justice adventure. If you haven’t read any of this series you don’t need to read them to enjoy this one. That being said, you’ll be missing out on some amazing stories that includee Brady and his siblings. I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

A stolen boat and a missing friend lead to a case human trafficking involving law enforcement at many levels — local, state, and national. Emily Chastain would put her life on the line to find both the perpetrators and the victims. But in the process her own faith and the faith of those around her would be tested and proved. Lynette Eason has written a dramatic and intense thriller that will hold the reader’s attention from beginning to end. I would easily give the book a 5-star rating, except for one problem.

There is a “but” however. The book dealt with a major theme in law enforcement in the 21st century, human trafficking. The book does not provide resources for the average reader to find additional help. No web sites allowing the reader to learn more. No way to determine the size of the problem in local communities or within individual states. No signs or symptoms to suggest where help may found by somebody in trouble. No phone numbers to call for help if seen. The resources are there (see https://www.state.gov/j/tip/id/help/ for one site.)

Yes, this is a work of fiction, but the problems are real. It would make sense to add a list of resources as an appendix or addendum or even a single website where this information could found if needed, especially from a book coming with a Christian imprint. But there was nothing. I was disappointed.

I have no problem recommending the book for reading, having written a good story. I, however, would expect the author or publisher to take the initiative to assist the reader in understanding the larger issues involved.

**I received this book for my honest review**

OK let me just say this book was a great read. I don’t even know where to start with my review. I was sucked in from the first page. From page one you can tell it’s going to be a good story line. This was my first book in this series and was a great standalone read. I loved reading about Brady and Emily’s connection. Each page held another issue or problem to solve. Throughout the story pieces started coming Together and Emily started involving. I definitely can’t wait for book 4 this summer. I plan to read the first two books in this series. Looking forward to reading Brady siblings stories. This is a great read and I recommend.

I'm still recovering.

Brady St John is trying to relax until a shot rings out, destroying any chance at peace for days to come. The third in Lynette Eason's Blue Justice series does not disappoint. Like the first two, it features vivid characters, tense suspense and a strong, twisty storyline that rattles along.

Emily is just trying to do her job, not expecting to have that include being kidnapped, thrown in a trunk, nearly shot, almost blown up and then pursued by a collection of bad people.

Thankfully, there's the StJohn crime fighting team with the cop. K9 handler, organized crime/SWAT team guy, the homicide detective (Brady) and the FBI agent.

If you like a heart racing thriller and a sweet romance, this is your go-to.

And for Lynn Blackburn fans, look out for a familiar character towards the end!!!

I'm normally a big fan of Lynette Eason, but this series is just kinda falling flat for me. The story line in this particular novel is okay (Although it seems like she thinks that she needs to have lots and lots going on or a plethora of bad guys...it's not simple at all, and I think overly complicated), but I struggled the whole book with the dialogue. I'm pretty sure I got an advanced eCopy so I'm hoping that editing will catch some of the weird sentences that just...weren't complete. But back to the dialogue, it was just awkward. It didn't flow, and it didn't make me want to stay in the story with Brady and Emily. Both are admirable characters, but I never really got caught up in the story because of the flow, pacing, or maybe just too much going on.

I normally love series about families, but this series family has just confused me from the beginning. The more I read the less clear I become. Instead of falling in love with the family I go, "Wait, what? Who? Should I know this story already?" And maybe that was a huge barrier for me. Brady kept bringing up his relationship with another girl. I'm guessing that it was covered in a previous novel (although I've read those and I can't remember it), but it isn't explained really in this novel. Even when it would fit really well in the story, it gets glossed over. But it's brought up, a lot.

It started out well, and grabbed me, but then is faded and I struggled to get through it. Which makes me kinda sad.

This book had a gripping beginning. Emily Chastain is invited to the story through the words of her friend and life changes immediately. Detective Brady St. John is shockingly plunged in Emily's world when he is trying to relax on the porch of a friends cabin. This books took me on a wild ride with it's twists and turns.
Brady is a wonderful character with a heart, caring, fierce and protective. Emily is battling an unknown force while holding fiercely to her belief in right and wrong. She's found some serious wrong in her job as an investigator of financial crimes. She fears for her friend Heather who is missing. She blames herself for involving Heather in her capacity as a journalist.
This book is action, faith, romance and so much more.

Thanks to Baker Publishing (Revell) and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy. I have to read the series now! I look forward to the next book. This is a stand alone story but it's so good one book in the series isn't enough.

What a fabulous book to start the year of with!! I have loved this series about the St. John siblings, but this has been my favorite! Brady and Emily’s story is filled with heart stopping drama that leaves you on the edge of your seat on minute and grabbing for tissues the next.

Emily’s life has not been easy. She has had to overcome many challenges but still suffers from self image just like many women do. Her pain tugs at your heart strings while her strength you admire. She has to overcome many obstacles but her faith is strong regardless of what is thrown at her. I hope I would have the strong faith she demonstrated to figure those who hurt and harmed her.

Brady St. John is in law enforcement like his mother and siblings and also part of the dive team. He displays the integrity we have come to love from this family yet is struggling with his faith. He finds himself thrown into danger while on vacation to refocus. His chance encounter with saving Emily leads him and his family on a wild adventure. Along the way, he finds himself revisiting his faith and opening back up to God.

I loved their story and anxiously await catching up with Brady & Emily in the next book. I found myself challenged to have faith as strong as Emily’s and to learn to turn off the negative self image voices and see myself through the eyes of others but most importantly, God.

Third times a charm

While taking a much needed vacation, Brady St. John is interrupted by a scream. The scream was from Emily Chastain, a financial investigator who was being kidnapped. From that point on, the book doesn't slow down. My attention was captivated throughout the duration of the book. I don't want to give the book away with my review so I will just say READ IT. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Yet another amazing suspense story by Lynette Eason, and, yes, it stole my sleep! The surprises and twists kept me flipping pages way too late into the night, and I was able to finish this one up in only three days. The plot was wonderful and involved many different players and settings and events. I like how mysterious things were; there was definitely a vibe of secrecy going on throughout that intrigued me.

There were a couple of times I was being led to believe the leads were about to solve everything… but there was still half a book or a third of a book left, so I knew there had to be a huge twist coming. Still, I didn’t guess it until it smacked me upside the head. In that fashion, this book very much reminded me of Mrs. Eason’s first Revell series, Women of Justice, my favorite of her series until Blue Justice came around. I think I need to pull out those oldies to see how I feel they compare to this new and brilliant collection of books. May I just binge-read a ton of her stories right now?!

The faith thread seemed to arrive a little late, but it was a good one. I really enjoyed seeing the leads overcome their fears and challenges within their journeys of faith. The way the author entwined the two separate threads of faith was mesmerizing and encouraging, and that finale! Just you wait till you reach that point and see if your jaw doesn’t drop in humble surprise (okay, flat-out shock). It’s amazing, truly.

Fans of Dee Henderson’s O’Malley Chronicles and the TV show Blue Bloods will adore this series. Be sure to start from the beginning to get all caught up on the St. John family’s adventures!

I have fallen in love with siblings of the St. John family through the previous two books in this series and was excited to read this one and get to know Brady. He is on vacation at a cabin trying to relax when he hears a woman scream. He reacts and jumps into the water to help her, it quickly becomes obvious someone is trying to kill her. He sets out to protect her and try to figure out why someone wants her dead. It seemed like there was never a quiet moment for them, just as they escape one threat another threat appears. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation to see if they will catch the villain or villains before Emily or Brady get hurt.

There are parts of the story given from the villain’s viewpoint but I could not figure out who was really calling the shots. While at times it was confusing trying to figure out how various characters tied together and who was really behind what was going on, everything was wrapped up and tied together by the end that all my questions were answered.

I enjoyed the interaction between Emily and Brady and was pleased with the way their relationship progressed. Emily was able to help Brady rediscover his relationship with God through her faith and actions. While Brady was able to help Emily deal with some of her insecurity and see that she was beautiful no matter what her size was. The St. John siblings added a wonderful addition to the story, not only did their banter lighten the mood at times but their support for one another helped solve the case. It was wonderful to reconnect with previous characters and get an update of what was going on with them. I especially enjoyed how Ms. Eason involved characters from Lynn Blackburn’s Dive Team Investigation series.

I now (not so patiently) wait for the next book in the series to be released so I can spend more time with this family.

I really enjoyed this latest from Eason. It was a fast read for me because I kept getting so engrossed in the story.

I loved Brady. I love heroes that don't hesitate, always do what is right, and who aren't afraid to grow emotionally and spiritually in a book. It was also really fun to be with the St John family again. I'd forgotten how much I love them. I also really liked Emily, but she didn't capture my heart the way Brady did even though I did love her strong Christian faith throughout the book.

One thing that I really loved in this book was the SCUBA diving! I've never been and I think I'd be afraid to try, but it was really fun to have so much of it in this book. Part of why I love reading is being able to experience new things!

I did feel like the romance moved a little too fast, but it is fiction and it was a good book.

I received an advanced copy from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
