I came to this book already knowing much of the basis of the plot from the musical adaptation. Unfortunately a love for that did not equal a love for this. There’s nothin wrong with the story, and in fact it is told quite well using the graphic novel format. However I found that for me at least it was impossible to get drawn into the story. With so many references and comparisons to classic literature it felt like the book was trying too hard to show me how smart it was, an instant turn off for me.

One of my favorite graphic novels. Bechdel was become an icon to a generation and hopefully generations to come.
