Thea Harrison has crafted elaborate and ornate worlds and she has continued to do so with Lionheart. This was a great read and I greatly enjoyed it.

Dr. Kathryn Shaw and Oberon were a surprise and perfect. Two individuals that are stubborn and allows no one to push them around found each other. Dr. Kathryn Shaw had always been a favorite of mine because she never allowed Dragos to dictate to her and she's no different in Lionheart. Dragos is briefly present at the beginning of Lionheart and Dr. Shaw immediately puts him in his place when he tries to order her to come to him. LOL!

One decision to help others and take on an adventure changes Dr. Shaw's life forever. Breaking a little doctor-patient protocol also allowed her life to take a detour that became her saving "Grace" in more ways than one.

King Oberon fell by Morgan LaFae's poison dart, is in permanent slumber until Dr. Shaw arouses his senses and awakens to a kingdom that has spent the last 15 years in frigid Alaskan-like winter. The ice in his heart, due to the poison that is slowly trying to make its way to his heart, and his lack of emotions are bound to kill him unless Dr. Shaw can save him. In the quest to save him they find their way together and once and for all deal with enemy Isabeau and the Light Court.

It was a wonderful, thrilling and beautiful ending to this saga. I loved having Dragos and the Sentinels around if only for a brief appearance. I hope Thea will bring us back to the world of the elder races again because I believe there are still more stories to tell and explore.

Lionheart by Thea Harrison is another conclusion to a series I’ve enjoyed – the Moonshadow trilogy. King Oberon has basically been frozen because of a mysterious illness and needs to be saved – enter Dr. Kathryn Shaw. I like Oberon but loved Kathryn because she was a fierce heroine not to be screwed with and that’s what I need from a heroine. Oberon reminded me too much of Dragos – which was probably intentional – but he was such an alpha and a predator I couldn’t stop seeing Dragos in him and wanted to see just Oberon. Even with that I still really loved this whole trilogy and this book. 4 stars.

Kate loves her life even if it is a bit predictable. So when an opportunity comes for change, she almost doesn’t take it. But change is good and a challenge entices her to leave her comfort zone. Oberon has slept for years but his magic has not. Can Kate save him before his magic destroys all he holds dear?
Lionheart is third in Thea Harrison’s Moonshadow series. I enjoyed seeing Kate again. I loved that Ms. Harrison allowed us to see what type of woman she is. Kate fights for her patients but can she win the fight for Oberon? I loved that Ms. Harrison gave us the opportunity to find out. Oberon is used to be obeying in all things. He has lost all but the memory of the love he has for his people and his demesne. But Kate refuses to allow Oberon to overrule her. She will fight for him even against him. I love that she calls him on his crap when it spews from his month. I love that she forces him to think. I love that she forces him to feel. She does not allow him to use his lack of empathy as the crutch it has been. She will stand beside Oberon as he battles for his soul and his world. Oberon’s battle is very real and Ms. Harrison gives him a strong partner in Kate. I loved their verbal skirmishes. I loved their chemistry. I love that in spite of the danger surrounding them Ms. Harrison allowed them to see the core of each other. They saw the best and the worst in each other but still managed to fall in love. I love that Oberon learned to trust in Kate and see her as a partner. I love that Kate learned to trust in Oberon and let go of some of her hard held control. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to more from Ms. Harrison in the future.

Review: LIONHEART (Moonshadow Trilogy, Book 3) by Thea Harrison https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-aY9

I loved this trilogy and LIONHEART was a favorite! This is the final book in Thea Harrison’s Moonshadow Trilogy that is set in the Elder Races World. You don’t need to read the Elder Races Series before starting this one, but I would recommend reading the Monshadow Series in order. Each book in the Moonshadow Series features a different couple and can be read as standalone though. LIONHEART is a King Oberon and Dr. Kathryn Shaw’s book. Kathryn is Dragos’s doctor in the Elder Series. LIONHEART had plenty of action, danger, passion and a unique storyline. I highly recommend this trilogy and I hope there will be a spin-off sent in this world because I love it!

Lionheart is an excellent addition to the Moonshadow series. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Oberon and the history of how he came to be in a state of unconsciousness. After repeated efforts failed to heal Oberon, the Dark Court reaches out to Dr. Kathryn Shaw. Kathryn agrees to travel to Lyonesse with the hope that she can heal Oberon.

I liked Kathryn's tenacity and courage. Oberon was an imposing and powerful character. He needed a strong woman to stand beside him as his mate and Kathryn filled that role perfectly. I enjoyed their interactions and seeing them come together as couple. Their story is rife with action and danger as an enemy converges on Lyonesse.

Lionheart drew me in from the very first page. It was an entertaining and interesting story that kept me turning the pages and disregarding the clock on the wall. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Teddy Harrison, LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is I think the third book in a series. I have not read the first two. I will have to go back and read them as I loved this book! I was confused at first, and to be honest a bit frustrated since I didn't know of understand the world. But the chemistry and connection between Kathryn and Oberon was amazing. Great book. I rate it a 4. Probably would be a 5 of I had read the others first. I think fantasy and romance readers would enjoy this book.

Oberon’s book is here! I absolutely loved the first two books in Thea Harrison’s Moonshadow series, so I was extra excited to read this book.

Dark Fae King Oberon’s presence loomed over the last two books, despite the fact that he has been in a coma-like sleep after an assassination attempt. While in his self-induced sleep, his powerful weather magic has spiraled out of control and is slowly freezing the life out of the Dark Fae’s land of Lyonesse. The situation is at a breaking point, and if the remaining Dark Court members cannot find a way to heal Oberon they will need to take drastic measures. They call upon Kathryn Shaw, a magical surgeon (and were-falcon) we met in book 1. Kathryn agrees to go to Lyonesse and do what she can to stop the magic intent on killing the King. When Oberon wakes up before Kathryn has stopped the killing magic, Oberon has to trust in her to save him before it is too late.

I totally love Kathryn. She is my favorite heroine in the series so far! I love that she is brilliant and so incredibly good at her job. Her best quality is that she takes no shit. She’s not “feisty” and is never obstinate for no reason. When she pushes back she does it after carefully considering the situation and determining that it’s a battle that requires fighting. Once she decides to push back, she does it firmly but still rationally. I want more heroines who are smart and carefully “strong” instead of just feisty or sassy! I especially loved that after her and Oberon realize what’s happening to them, she immediately grasps the complexities of being Queen, or is at least prepared to investigate and navigate them. Kathryn doesn’t do anything blindly, and her forthright but compassionate persona is exactly what Lyonesse needs from a leader. I haven’t heard whether there are more books coming in the series, but I certainly hope so because I want to hear how Kathryn is faring in Lyonesse.

Oberon was less interesting to me. The killing magic is basically freezing his emotions, so for a good chunk of the book he’s not able to feel anything but the most animalistic urges. I guess it was somewhat interesting to hear about how he was trying to determine the “right” thing to do based on how he guessed the man he used to be would respond, but in general I didn’t feel like the stakes were very high. Obviously he was going to get his emotions back, and obviously he was going to be a good person once he did. Once Kathryn removes the magic, Oberon became ridiculously perfect. He is so good, so just, so noble, so beloved by his people. I suppose I just didn’t feel like he had a lot of depth.

Still, I really enjoy this world. I loved finally seeing Oberon’s power, because whooo boy he’s got some power. I also really respect the way Harrison has handled the concept of trauma in this series. In this book the puck Robin, who endured some horrific trauma and consequently hasn’t always made the best choices in the series, finally gets some healing. The one part where Oberon WAS a bit swoony was when he was comforting Robin and letting him know it’s ok to feel what he’s feeling. It’s so revolutionary to read that kind of thing in a romance, especially from a powerful alpha hero, and I am here for it.

I may not have loved this book as much as the others in the series, but it’s still a solid story with an excellent heroine. I hope it continues.

Grade: 4 out of 5.

Change is in the air. Even as Dragos plans to retire and set up an alternate kingdom with his wife and newborn son, it's time to wake up Oberon from his disconnected state where the only real thing is the assassin's weapon that is slowly but surely killing him. Enter Dr. Kathryn Shaw personal physician to Dragos, who swoops down into the heart of the dark court with the faithful Puck ready to go to battle for Oberon's life and ultimately his kingdom. The scintillating dialog, her feistiness as she stands up to his royal majesty and fights side by side with him makes this one of my favorite books in the series.
As Kathryn begins her journey from the guard station of the Dark Fae in the earth plane, she quickly leaves behind her escort and travels on "puck back" to arrive at a dying Lyonesse to be greeted by an unhappy, disgruntled Oberon. In his quest to survive and battle with the weapon that is slowly killing him Oberon has lost most of his sensitivity to emotion and his ability to control the weather. Suspicious of everyone, even his most faithful Puck he is not at all a happy camper at Kathryn's arrival.
Fortunately Kathryn more than holds her own makes her demands of Oberon clear and goes about quietly and calmly performing the surgery necessary to save Oberon's life. I love her quick thinking and ingenious solutions. Oberon's waking emotions and suspicious nature are balanced by the arrival of his people as well as his enemies even as he beings the mating dance with Kathryn.
The battle for Lyonesse is engaged and Kathryn refuses to be cowed, instead using her falcon to deliver damage and collect intelligence fighting shoulder to shoulder with Oberon to defeat his enemy. Isabeau definitely deserves all that she gets and more. A great story where you get to visit with some old favorites and meet a lot of new characters. I definitely would like Puck to get his own story one of these days.

This is the 3rd book in the Moonshadow series. Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize this when I requested it and was not familiar with the previous 2 books. I read some plot summaries on Goodreads, but there was just too much to try and catch up on. I'm sure that I missed a lot of key information!

the icy Oberon and Dr. Kathryn Shaw were a good match. It was compelling reading, and it makes me want to go back and read the previous books in the series so I can get the full impact/effect.

Moonshadow, the first book in Thea Harrison’s series of the same name, knocked my socks off and earned a permanent place on my reread shelf. Spellbinder, the second book in the series, had some amazing high points but in the end garnered a decent rating, but not a gushing one. As for Lionheart, I loved the main characters, loved the premise, and it ended up being a good read.

Kathryn has always commanded respect in the Elder Races books. A close confidant of one of my favorite dragons, Dragos himself, I was excited for her to get her very own HEA. She has always been a strong character, confident in her abilities, and not afraid to go toe to toe with even the grouchiest of Wyr (yes, I’m looking at you Dragos, but it’s a fond, overindulged, aren’t you cute look when you’re grumpy look). In some ways, Kathryn was almost too calm and capable. I kind of wished she’d lost her temper a few more times than she actually did.

Oberon was mysterious, sexy, and a bit tragic. The poison used made him void of emotion, even though he knew remembered what it was like to feel them. Tragic as that was, that coldness to his personality made it harder to really connect to him at first. As the book progressed I ended up really liking him, but I never fell head over heels like I wanted to.

The last book in the Moonshadow Trilogy, Lionheart did a great job pulling everything together. I loved seeing Sophie and Nik again. I do wish we’d have had more time with Morgan. What I really hoped for was a meeting between him and Oberon, but that might have been too much to ask.

The problem was that although I enjoyed reading this book, it didn’t wow me like I really wanted it too. Even the final scene between Oberon and Isabeau didn’t fire me up and after all that had gone on before, it should have. Even without the wow factor, I longed for, Lionheart still had a sexy hero with a tragic past, a strong heroine, and eventually some serious chemistry to keep things heated up. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Rating: 3.75 Rounded up to 4 Stars.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Oh wow! Thea Harrison is back and with a bang. Prepare to fall head over heels with the Elder Races, all over again. I’m still not sure why I went off this series but after this book I’m going back to the beginning.

For me Kathryn was terrific, I adored her and Oberon. What a great couple and the story was fantastic. It went at a great pace and with a good cast of additional players.

It makes an easy read alone

In what begins as the ultimate love/hate relationship, this was a great romance novel. The relationship between Oberon and Kathryn was entertaining and fun to watch. The battle between the immovable object and the irresistible force went on for longer than most novels, there was the smallest bit of insta-love but it was buried beneath a ton of "I hate you" LOL.

While the romance follows a surprising course the real overarching plot between good and evil in this trilogy was finally resolved and I loved it , the ending was surprising and not at all what I expected which I always enjoy. So the only reason for 4 Stars instead of 5? It seemed to me that I did a bit of scanning when the telling of this story became too verbose so although I did not hang on every word I did enjoy the novel and can't wait to see where we go next.

I love that we see characters from previous books and keep getting small snippets of their lives. This is the third book in this series that I have read. I think I like this one the most out of all of them. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

4.5stars--LIONHEART is the third instalment in Thea Harrison’s contemporary adult MOONSHADOW paranormal/fantasy trilogy-a spinoff from the author’s ELDER RACES series. This is Dark Fae King Oberon, and trauma surgeon Dr. Kathryn Shaw’s story line. LIONHEART can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the trilogy in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Oberon and Kathryn) LIONHEART follows Wyr trauma surgeon Dr. Kathryn Shaw as she is tasked by Dragos Cuelebre, dragon shifter and leader of the Wyr Demense, with saving the life of King Oberon of the Dark Court. Over fifteen years earlier (200 in Otherworld time) an assassin was sent by Queen Isabeau of the Light Court to take down the once mighty and powerful King of the Dark. A sliver of magic sensitive silver had entered Oberon’s body, and was slowly destroying the man and leader he had become. In order to protect his people from his increasing instability, Oberon cast a stasis spell that sent the him into a two hundred year sleep. Enter Dr. Kathryn Shaw, and the woman with whom Oberon would fall in love. What ensues are Kathryn’s struggles to save the Dark Court King, and the potential fall-out as Oberon insists on going to war, in an effort to reclaim what was and what shall be again.

Dr. Kathryn Shaw loved New York, and her job as a trauma surgeon but when ordered to the Dark Court of Lyonesse, Kathryn struggled between head and heart knowing a man’s (King’s) life hung in the balance. King Oberon knew his time was drawing to an end. No longer able to keep his Power under control, his beautiful lands, and the people he loved were slowly being destroyed by the battle between good and evil.

The relationship between Kathryn and Oberon begins acrimoniously. Oberon never anticipated waking up to discover his lands destroyed, and his would-be mate struggling to keep him alive. Kathryn knew once she saved King Oberon’s life, nothing would ever be the same. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of the previous Moonshadow couples play secondary and supporting characters including LAPD consultant Sophie Ross, and Daoine Sidhe Knight of the Dark Court Nikolas Sevigny (Moonshadow #1), and sorcerer/lycanthrope Morgan le Fae, and musician Sidonie Martel (Spellbinder #2). We get a quick glimpse at Dragos and Rune from the original Elder Races series, but for the most part the characters include King Oberon’s court (Annwyn, Gawain, Owen) and his Puck (shapeshifter) Robin.

LIONHEART is a story of betrayal and revenge; recovery and loss; of one man’s struggle to reclaim what was lost, and one woman’s battle between head and heart. The premise is entertaining and imaginative; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is provocative and moving. LIONHEART is a moving, animated and energetic tale-a perfect conclusion to Thea’s Moonshadow Trilogy.

Lionheart by Thea Harrison follows the story of Kathryn and Oberon. Their story is fantastic, strong characters dealing with issues that could be mean their life or death. The world building is compelling and forceful, the reader can picture themselves in Oberon's land. Highly recommended. P.S. There is also a quick peak at the continuing life of Pia and Dragos.

Lionheart, Thea Harrison

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance,

I was wondering what to read next recently, I love to re-read good novels and this trilogy flicked in my mind as one I'd really enjoyed, and then only a couple of days later the final book appeared on Netgalley ;-) Yay!
Sadly though I loved the first two books in this series this one, well, not so much :-( and just have to say here, I hate that cover. That guy just doesn't do it for me. I get that Oberon is tough and growly, not a slight, pretty boy type, but that guy just looks hairy and – dare I say it – a little chubby rather than muscly......and that 'tache!! Still, I'm sure he's a hit for others ;-)

Where books one and two were very people orientated and we had lots of action, drawing in so many different characters, it felt like the bulk of this book was just Oberon and Katherine, and I didn't really enjoy that part. I'm glad he wasn't a sap when he saw Katherine, that he was his own abrupt, arrogant, imperious self, even when they did fall for each other. Equally I love that Thea has strong women as heroines, no simpering misses, no-one that can be described as “his little....” that always infuriates me. Just strong, confident ladies. They often have issues, but that's a world away from being weak and easily impressed. I did enjoy their battles, where neither backed down.

I love Puck, and I'm glad we saw more of him, he's a strange character, I so feel for his past and the effects it had on him, and that makes him very unpredictable. His heart is for Oberon ( and Sophie) and he's ultra protective, giving nothing for convention, politeness, politics, just takes the course of action that feels right to him. That gives Thea a freedom to introduce all sorts of events....

I missed seeing the characters we'd met in the earlier books, they were there but so briefly considering the size of the book, and that affected how I enjoyed it. It just didn't feel properly connected to those earlier ones. I do like the link with the elder Races but you don't need to have read them to enjoy this trilogy.
The battle with Isabeau, when it finally came, felt anti-climatic, there had been so much build up through previous books and then it seemed to be over in a trice. It made it feel a bit of a non event for me. I'd guessed a way back what was going to happen, not quite how but the seeds for the event were pretty generously sown.

Stars:Three and a half, fabulously written as always with Thea – that parts a solid five stars, but the rest just didn't live up to books one and two for me. I really missed meeting all the others, missed the actual world connections, Lyonesse v the world we know, the magic that connects it, and they way Oberon's people have been fighting so hard for Lyonesse and him on both sides of the divide. I felt so much of this book was just Katherine and Oberon and they took over too much of the story for me. I also felt the ending was a little anti-climatic somehow, all that build up and then.....

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love this last book in the Moonshadow series. King Oberon has been fighting the poison for years and the end is near when Dr. Kathryn Shaw is brought in to try for a cure. Kathryn is not milksop. She has had years dealing with Dragos in New York and she is more than a match for Oberon when he wakes. Loved the push/pull between the two. A great story and ending to this trilogy.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

This was a fantastic entry in the Moonshadow series and completely captured my heart! With a slight feeling of Beauty and the Beast, this story picks up where the last left off when Morgan breaks free of Isabeau's control, and the Dark Fae focus turns to saving their king, Oberon, who has been in a deep sleep for 15 years. We get to see a lot characters we know and love, and we meet new ones as well. Puck has a bigger role in this story than the last, and it's lovely to see how his character grows over time. Each book reveals a little more about him.

Oberon, king of the Dark Fae, has been causing catastrophe his world. In a deep sleep for 15 years after an assassination attempt went awry, he hovers on the brink of death, all the while wreaking havoc on his people and devastating his lands with powerful weather patterns. Dr. Kathryn Shaw, a wyr who shape shifts into a falcon, is called upon to assist in healing Oberon so that he can be woken and end the damage to the land. Upon arriving, she realizes his condition is more severe than she believed, and it's possible she can't heal him at all. And with each passing minute, the needle hovering near his heart sinks closer and closer, and that could mean the end for Oberon and his kingdom.

Oberon and Kathryn were a well-matched couple! I loved listening to them banter and flirt, even when Oberon was afflicted by the needle near his heart. Even then, when he was cold towards everyone and everything, he felt affection for Kathryn. Their relationship only grew stronger over time, and I enjoyed seeing where Thea Harrison took things as the story progressed. Kathryn remained strong, even when Oberon pressured her and things escalated quickly. They were a force to be reckoned with once together, and of the three books in the series, they were definitely my favorite couple.

If there are more books to come in this series, I am very excited! I anticipate a wild ride and can't wait to see which couple will be featured next.
