I enjoyed the blend of multiple different paranormal elements (e.g. witches, vampires and shifters) in this book. The romance was fun and the plot was action packed. The characters were all unique and well written. This was my first time reading this author's work, but I'm looking forward to continuing with this series.

Riley O’Driscoll’s world was thrown upside down , first by her nasty divorce and them by the murder
of her much love Grandmother ............. leaving her with a surprise inheritance of magic and mayhem.
When Riley , still learning about her magic , is attacked by the men thought responsible for her
Grandmother's death , she manages to open a portal into Faerie - slap bang in the middle of a "cat" fight .
This is no ordinary "cat" but is tiger shifter Jeremiah with problems of his own .
Striking a deal he helps her return home , although he has his own agenda of missing Shifters, to the mystery of just who wants her dead and why ?!
This is a Paranormal romance with Shifter and Faerie characters of unique ideas of how to live and interact .
I did find the Romance element difficult to relate to but did enjoy the book overall and I am looking
forward to reading more in the series

I love Robyn Bachar's writing - it's fresh and so funny. I think her paranormal feels original which is super difficult to do in a genre where there is literally everything all the time.

This is the first book I have read of Robyn Bachar. I enjoyed the characters and found them to be well-written. The story contains some supernatural creatures, shifters, vampires, magicians, witches, sorcerers, and fairies. It was a fun easy to follow read.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I like Riley I just that she is an interesting character. I did what a little more from the setting of the story. I kept craving more description. But I did enjoy the plot and the storyline and would like to read more in the series. I did love the mix of supernatural beings that made up the cast of this book.

This is a shifter novel that is very sensual . It is book 2 in the Bad Witch series and can be read as a stand alone but I might have liked it better if I was familiar with the various characters and kingdoms. Riley escapes witch hunters through her grandmothers mirror and falls into Jere's world. He is a tiger shifter and offers to protect her when the hunter pursue her. She is older but just learning magic since being a witch was kept a secret. I received a copy of this ARC in ex change for a fair and honest review.

Bloodlines and Broomsticks was an interesting take on the urban paranormal genre. It involves a werewolf hunk who has self hate issues and a fairy girl who has no idea where lie the limits of her powers. While I commend the romance angle (it had some very spicy scenes therein), I think shape shifters have been given their due better in Ilona Andrew’s works as well as those by Kelley Armstrong. This didn’t work in a new angle that drew a reader in.
The writing is there, however. With a more deliberate, unique premise this author could really shine.

This is the first book I have read of Robyn Bachar’s and I quite enjoyed the ride!

Riley O’Driscoll gets thrown into a magical world she never existed following the murder of her beloved grandmother. This just added to the heartbreak was already going through because of a nasty divorce. She soon finds herself fully immersed into a world of magic and mayhem, filled with new friends and foes alike. Mix in a sexy shapeshifter name Jeremiah with an interesting past that is indebted to Riley for a year and then things get even more fun. A fun read packed full of magic and romance that kept me engaged throughout its entirety. I’m looking forward to reading more of Robyn Bachar’s works.

Imagine the shock when she was introduced to her inheritance which came to her on the death of her grandmother, and what a shock it was beside the way her grand died, what was a girl who had grown up believing there is no such thing as magic, witches, faeries etc to think or much less do. An inheritance that surpasses all she had been taught, Riley cannot believe she is now part of that fantasy realm, now she had to do a crash course in all things magical, in order to awaken her powers or her grandmother death would be for nothing. Excitement, humor and a whole lotta fun, now that Beatrice, Benedict, Jeremiah, and Riley has teamed up to solve the mystery of who broke into her house and why they wanted her dead. Mixed in with all this, is a blooming romance, how much more complicated can a situation get. An exciting and fun read from start to finish.

This is the second book in a series but the first that I had read. Just by reading it, I could tell I had not jumped in at the beginning of the series but I didn't feel like I jumped into the middle of a long established series either. To be honest, I really enjoyed it. Although I didn't have the build up from the first book, I didn't feel like I needed it. It definitely had plenty of action and I enjoyed the concept of a novice who can't control her powers but has them blustering through with a single focus in mind and letting magic take its course. I also always enjoy a good "falling out of the sky" story.

I enjoyed the characters and found them to be well-written and when betrayal hits, I definitely felt its sting. I liked the supporting characters and their feisty bickering. I also enjoyed how they could put it to the side to focus on what was important. This book was able to subtly address some real world issues without you even thinking about it.

I admit to it having some shocking moments I didn't see coming that left me with a bit of a book hangover. I think I was still reeling from certain actions when I finished the book. I loved the concept of how magic worked in this universe and I didn't find a lot of contradictions in it. I really get frustrated when you think you have a handle on how the magic in a universe is set up but then it gets conveniently changed for an instance and then goes back to how you thought it should be.

All in all, I found this a very satisfying book. I don't feel like I have to go out and immediately buy the first book in the series but I do feel the need to read the next one as soon as I can.

Thank you to Robyn Bachar and NetGalley for the chance to read this story and provide my honest thoughts and opinions to oth

Book reviews are by nature very subjective things. Folks like me with writer and editor tendencies can look at aspects of technique and modern writing theory and how well they are applied, but there is always an underlying aspect of personal taste that plays a role.

The reason I’m going on about this is because I was less-than-excited about Bloodlines and Broomsticks and the causes of that primarily fall into personal taste and some vague stuff that the average reader probably doesn’t worry about. So although the blurb of the book did appeal to me, the book itself was only a 3 star read, though on the higher side. Because it doesn’t have a lot of things I consider flaws, it is likely to be a very enjoyable read to a lot of other people.

For me, the book itself seemed focused more on the romance than the other parts of the story, but I was more intrigued by those other parts in the blurb. So if you enjoy a romance with a hint of suspense and a heavy dose of paranormal, this book is going to work for you.

In terms of the more vague things, I felt a bit so-so about the ending. The character has a clear character arc, which is usually my number one requirement for a satisfying ending, and it did reach a somewhat reasonable stopping point. However, it left big chunks of the plot unresolved.

If I think back over the opening chapters of the book, the main character’s goal is to learn magic and take over the position her grandmother held before her death. There is a secondary goal of achieving some sort of revenge against or power over those believed responsible. This creates an expectation for me that the primary goal be resolved at the end.

Instead the story revolves around an unexpected attack on her home and dealing with that. That side track goal does reach solution. And some magic control is obtained. But it still feels like a larger portion of the goals and questions the book has asked were left unresolved.

For me, because I’m the critical type of reader that I am, this kept me from giving the book a higher rating, although the writing is solid and the plot line and characters are enjoyable.

That’s the personal side of things. Those pieces didn’t add up enough for me and who I am, but very likely a lot of other people–especially those for whom the romance itself is a key factor–will find it an excellent read.

Note: I did not purchase this book, but chose to download it from NetGalley with the intention of reviewing it.

This was better than the first, however could do with more world and character building. The stories contain every type of supernatural creature, shifters of all types, necromancers (vampires), magicians, witches, sorcerers, and fairies, there are no elves they were hunted to extinction and with so many types of supernatural beings the stories feel rushed and under developed.
Riley has just lost her grandmother who was the Tatiana when she was murdered by a necromancer (vampire) and discovered that she is a witch. Unfortunately, although she is trying hard, she has not been able to do anything magic. The faeries and the witch’s council want her to challenge the new Tatiana, Cat, because of her ties to the necromancers and to do this she must wield and control her magic.

One night she is attacked in her home, she opens a portal to faerie asking that it takes her to someplace safe and lands in the middle of a fight between Jerimiah and his cousin Bendick where she is scratched and possible infected with “wild magic”. Jerimiah has been trapped in faerie for several years, unable to return to out plane until Riley appears. He was a guardian and now it appears the guardians are after Riley and in return for getting him back to our plane he agrees to be her protector for one year. Of course, this mean that there is romance in store between the two and therein lies the problem; the pace is too rushed and there’s no substance (in this book) other than attraction and lust.

The books are so short that they all feel rushed, they have the potential to be so much better. I feel that if the author had written had released these three books as two, combining some of the plot lines and building her characters and world they would be so much better. Each book is a little over 200 pages, so tightening up the storylines wouldn’t make two books overly long. The way they stand now it seem sort of a mishmash, even if they are quick reads.

3.75/5 STARS: **This is an honest, unbiased review. I would like to thank the author and/or/publisher for providing an ARC through Netgalley, all opinions are mine.**

I was worried I wouldn't be able to follow this book as it is apparently the second in a series. But it was a fun easy to follow read. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline looking forward to more.

Light, fun, fanciful, romantic, discovery of hidden talent.

Love happens quickly amid the mystery why magic is hidden from the family and the search for missing magical beings.

I hope there is a sequel in the works.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others to read. At first, I wasn't too sure where the story was headed, but after chapter 1 I couldn't put the book down and was looking for a sequel to find out what happens next in the story.

Loved this book!!! Honestly, what's not to love? Witches, shifters, fairies, oh my! Riley is struggling to come into her powers as a witch when she becomes a victim of evil forces. Jeremiah is appointed as her protector for a year. They join forces with other supernaturals to keep themselves safe. There is romance and intrigue enough to keep the book very fast paced. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

The character is a wimp and the book was a bit all over the place. I didn't get into to it and I have up after a few chapters. It just didn't seem to get anywhere and left me wanting.

This is the second book in the series, however the first I have read. I found it to be a fun, engaging story that made me want to both read the previous, and look forward to the next in the series. If you haven't read the first, that's ok. This is a different character than the first book, so though the story carries on, it's still got the best parts of a first book in that you get to know more about the world and learn right along with Riley. This story is about her frustration with being new to the paranormal world that she didn't know her late grandmother used to be a big part of. She's frustrated she isn't learning, and for the professor in her, that's a big issue. She's got pressure from other witches to take over the post that used to belong to her grandmother, so when she's attached and accidentally opens a path to faerie, she picks up a new tiger shifter bodyguard. They work together on her magic studies in while also working out who wants to harm her, and she learns more from his methods than her family that was helping before. Though this book was fast paced and I think they jumped into a relationship fairly quickly, it was still organic enough to not be a major issue. I liked that she saw the elitist attitudes and decided right away that they had to change, and made a decision to do so. Though there are lots of threads that are unresolved, I felt like this was a fun introduction to these characters and would like to see what happens next. I got my copy from Netgalley in return for an unbiased review.

This is my first book by this author. When I started reading the book, I realized it was not the first book in the series. I do believe it would have helped to read the 1st book as initially I was a little lost; however, it did not impede me from enjoying the book. The H/h were really enjoyable. Jeremiah is a big sweetie and Riley inner monologue is great. I do wish there would have been a bit longer build-up to the H/h getting together since they had recently met. I'll seek out the other books in the series to read.

It was ok. Too much romance and not enough world building I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t enjoy it enough to seek out more books in the series, either.
