Good story. I read the first one in the series, but not the second one so I was a little unaware of some of the previous events. Wish I had read them in order.

A good paranormal romance, with an interesting world building and great characters.
I loved the style of writing, the cast of character was likeable and the plot was enjoyable and entertaining.

This is the first book I have by Ms. Bachar and found it to be quite different from most paranormal romances. The characters were hard to relate to and the love interest seemed to happen awfully fast but overall it was an okay read. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

There is a hierarchy and mythology at work here that makes the book sing. What is more, author Robyn Bachar writes scenes with intensity and description. Page leads to page addictively.

My first book by this author and honestly I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but as I enjoy magic and romance combined my curiosity was well and truly aroused.
Riley is new to all things magical and is just getting used to the idea that she could be a powerful witch. What she wasn't expecting was to be attacked in her own home by men who could well be responsible for her beloved grandmother's death. Now Riley might still be learning but she's no slouch and manages to open an escape portal into Faerie but she lands slap bang in the middle of a cat fight ! This is no ordinary kitty though but a Tiger Shifter named Jeremiah with problems of his own. A deal is struck and Jeremiah and Riley return home but the mystery of who attacked Riley keeps getting much more complicated when it seems linked to missing Shifters.
I enjoyed this mad mixture of paranormal creatures and thought the author had a somewhat unique idea of how they would live and possibly interact. The Fae seemed cute and cantankerous, the Shifters seemed very much ruled by their inner beasts and the Vampires frankly didn't wow me. Add in Witches and Sorcerers who seemed terribly elitist and I could understand why Riley embraced everything she could be but sorry my lips are sealed.
This book for me was let down by the fact that I didn't really connect with or understand the romance in it. Two attractive people relying on each other I do understand but the rapid pace just didn't work for this reader. I guess I just prefer more build up when it comes to relationships.

I really enjoyed Riley's journey through this book. She definitely grew throughout the story and came into her own. It's as if once the ball started rolling for her in the magic world, it just kept going and getting bigger and bigger. I enjoyed the plot, but I felt the relationship happened a little fast between Riley and Jeremy. I would have liked to see a little bit more out of the plot development as well. I felt like it was rushed a little in the end. But I was fascinated all the same. It definitely kept my interest and had me quickly turning the pages. I enjoyed this magic world and I'd excited to see where the story goes from here.
