This is the third book in this series that I have read and enjoyed, and yes, it can definitely be read alone.
We are back in Cimarron Creek and with newly widowed Thea and a young woman who will become a dear friend, a woman searching for her family, she was adopted and raised in France.
Now we add in some very dashing men, and one a Ranger and of course, a gang doing crime. Also, a new-found baby, what? Yes, can you imagine finding a baby in the desert? Intrigued, this is just a sample of what is waiting once you begin turning the covers of this read!
As the author tells us at the end of this book, this is the end of this series, but we are teased with a new upcoming treasure.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review
This is the third and final book in the Cimarron Creek Trilogy by Amanda Cabot. This book focuses on Thea, a midwife. Thea wants a new beginning and moves to Cimarron Creek to move on from her past. She recently became a widow and lost her unborn child. A friend comes with her so that she is not alone. She is in search of connecting with family in the area. Together, they embark on a journey to a new town to face a new beginning. However, there seems to be trouble that may be following Thea. A Texas Ranger, Jackson, appears with an abandoned baby for Thea to care for while he looks for the child’s mother. Upon finding the mother, Jackson determines that she bares a similar likeness to Thea. Jackson has his own issues from his past haunting him. He is on a mission to discover the truth about Thea and her previous husband. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but after reading the entire series, I would suggest reading all three. They all tie in together for a beautiful conclusion. I highly recommend this book! You will love this historical novel!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.
"Hope She Writes More"
A Tender Hope is the third book in the Cimarron Creek Trilogy. Each book can be read as a stand alone. Each one is set in the cozy, friendly small town of Cimarron Creek. Each book has it's own share of love, deception, and redemption often surrounded by secrets and mysteries.
A Tender Hope has the female lead in one of my favorite roles to read about in this time period, which is a midwife. Add a Ranger looking for a gang of thieves and with his own secrets, to the mix of a town where everyone knows everyone and their lives makes for many interesting turns. It's like coming home whether you've ever been to the town or not.
This is the last book in the series But I hope she writes more about the delightful people in this town.
It’s so satisfying to finish the third book in a trilogy. I began reading Amanda Cabot’s Cimarron Creek Trilogy back when the first installment was still a Galley edition, so this review has been a long time coming. While I enjoyed books 1 & 2, the closing novel A Tender Hope was easily my favorite.
The book’s description reads:
As far as Thea Michener is concerned, it’s time for a change. With her husband murdered and her much-anticipated baby stillborn, there is nothing left for her in Ladreville. Having accepted a position as Cimarron Creek’s midwife, she has no intention of remarrying and trying for another child. So when a handsome Texas Ranger appears on her doorstep with an abandoned baby, Thea isn’t sure her heart can take it.
Ranger Jackson Guthrie isn’t concerned only with the baby’s welfare. He’s been looking for Thea, convinced that her late husband was part of the gang that killed his brother. But it soon becomes clear that the situation is far more complicated than he anticipated–and he’ll need Thea’s help if he’s ever to find the justice he seeks.
Though I’m not sure the description is entirely applicable to the actual novel, it certainly got me interested enough to get reading. As per usual, Cabot has given us a wholly original plot that is pleasantly refreshing amongst so much monotonous romance available today.
While the large cast and complicated town backstory were detriments to the first novel in particular, they really did come full circle to serve this installment well. Many previously introduced characters had their happy endings in this book, which was satisfying though not completely surprising.
The main characters were still new introductions, and they were well developed and interesting, as is always the case with Cabot’s writing. The mystery of this novel also seemed more original and intriguing to me; it didn’t take up all the action of the plot, but each aspect related to it all the same.
Well written and original, A Tender Hope deserves those stars. It was a satisfying end to a decent trilogy, and definitely worth the few hours it took me to read it.
A Tender Hope by Amanda Cabot is the final book in her Cimarron Creek Trilogy. This Christian romance reads as a standalone, but I plan to read the previous two books. Lydia and Travis’ story is told in book one, A Stolen Heart. Book two, A Borrowed Dream, is Catherine and Austin’s story. You’ll get to know these characters in this series ender.
Thea Michener is a midwife ending her period of mourning for her husband and stillborn son. She’s leaving the town of Ladreville to escape the loneliness and despair that she feels living in the home she once shared with her husband. Thea moves her practice to the town of Cimarron Creek. Once Thea reaches Cimarron Creek and meets Jackson Guthrie, she develops a “tender hope” that her loneliness will be a thing of the past and her new dream of having a family will come true.
Jackson Guthrie is a Texas Ranger tracking Thea because he believes she’s part of a gang, The Gang of Four, who have been robbing wealthy travelers and hijacking Army payrolls. Jackson is extremely stressed because one of the gang members killed his younger brother, Micah. When Jackson meets Thea, he immediately knows she is not involved with the gang he has been trying to apprehend. He now realizes that the lonely, nomadic life of a Texas Ranger may no longer be enough to satisfy him. He longs for a family and a place to call home.
A Tender Hope grabs your emotions at the start and holds them to the finish. I love good characterization and Ms. Cabot has done an excellent job on this aspect of the novel. The primary characters and the supporting cast all have complete backstories and are believable. The character’s physical attributes are described extensively, so you can clearly picture each one. The story is primarily revealed through the point of view of the main characters, which makes this an interesting but easy read.
A Tender Hope is heart-warming Christian romance and I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy chaste romance with an interesting plot, this book will be a satisfying read. If you don’t enjoy religious themes, this may not be the book for you.
My thanks to Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
A Tender Hope is a very well written inspirational romance. This book has a good plot and well developed characters. Fans of historical fiction will enjoy this book. I received an arc from the publisher via Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
I just finished reading this and I loved this. The title was perfect for the book. My only regret is that I didn't read the first two books. I really loved it. I loved the characters, the plot and all the action.
This was a book well worth reading. Sweet, clean and and had some tragic moments, happy and sad moments. Just a book that I couldn't put down. Now to go back and find the first two in the series!
I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts were my own.
This was such a wonderful book! I really feel for the characters. The men in the book cracked me up trying to figure women out and how to go court. This little town of Cimarron Creek with its wonderful community drew me in and I could just imagine how wonderful it would be to live there. I loved the mystery of Jackson hunting down a gang of robbers and trying to figure out how Thea’s late husband fits into it all. The romances between several of the characters had me laughing and guessing how it would all work out. Amanda Cabot has such a way of turning her books into more than a story but more like an experience. This story has excitement, romance and mystery. Guaranteed to leave you wanting more!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Another great book to a great series. The story is immersive and full of depth. I'm sad to see this series end as I have enjoyed it s much. You'll probably want to read the books in order to get all the background info so everything makes sense about the characters, yet this book can stand well on it's own.
"A Tender Hope" is a Christian historical romance set in 1881. This is the third book in a series, but it works as a standalone. However, there has been an ongoing thread throughout the series that was wrapped up in this book. You'll better understand the nuances of what is happening if you've read the previous two books, but this story is understandable even if you haven't read them.
There were three romances going on in this story. In addition to the main characters, two of the town's bachelors finally found their love match. Much of the story involved the misunderstandings and bumbled attempts at winning their girl. The hero was also focused on uncovering and arresting the members of the Gang of Four, so there was a bit of mystery and suspense. The good characters were kind and thoughtful people while the bad characters were cruel. There was some torture, but we're not told the details so it wasn't grisly to read. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable story.
Thea is looking forward to starting over in a new town after the death of her husband. Ranger Jackson thinks she has answers to his questions. He follows her and her friend Aimee to Cimarron Creek, where we meet the new schoolteacher, Patience, and see our old friends Travis, Lydia, Warner and Nate, along with the Goddards and Grace. The rangers case keeps the story moving as well as interactions between the townsfolk. Another story that keeps the intrigue up til the end and a fitting conclusion to the series.
A Tender Hope was a very quick read. It was a good book but without much depth or complexity. It was not my favorite.
A Tender Hope
By Amanda Cabot
Thea Michener is in grief after burying her murdered husband and stillborn child. Thea reveals that she jumped into her first marriage. When her husband begins coming home with shirts smelling of perfume and is then murdered Thea questions how much she really knew him and if he loved her at all. Leaving the town where she everyone knows everybody Thea thinks she can begin anew. Thea and her new friend Aimee travel to Cimarron Creek to serve as a midwife to the community. Although settling into Cimarron Creek feels right Thea prepares herself to never find love again. The secrets Theas husband kept soon get in the way to moving on. A baby, a ranger and murders on the loose keep Thea stuck in the past.
Ranger Jackson Guthrie is chasing his brothers’ murderers, the Gang of Four. Thea Michener is the wife of the only identified gang member and Jackson is determined to get to know her better in hopes to discover clues to the rest of the gang’s whereabouts.
With so much at stake, Thea and Jackson begin to realize that they work well as a team. Could love be part of the equation?
This upbeat story is the third and final book to the Cimarron Creek series. I did not read any of the prior books and felt that it was easily read as a stand-alone novel. Cabot masterfully mixed romance, suspense together in this little western town. I think it was an easy read but had a few surprises to keep you on your toes. Although God is not mentioned so much throughout this book and it is clearly fiction, I think you can still see his handiwork in the storyline. I enjoyed this book and the adventure it took me on.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion which I share here. https://simplyannehere.wordpress.com

All Thea wants is a fresh start in life. With the help of Aimee, her is looking for her birth mother, they head to Ciimarron Creek. Jackson wants to find the outlaws who killed his brother. When he eliminates Thea as a suspect they work together to find the Gang.
What a great conclusion to the Cimarron Creek Series. I recommend the entire series for all who like mystery and romance.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
If you have been following the goings-on of the people of Cimarron Creek, you will love this latest edition by Amanda Cabot.
One of the great things about this series is that each book can be read as a standalone, but the characters from each book beginning with A Stolen Heart and the previous book A Borrowed Dream make you want to read the entire series. And some of them make their way into this last novel, which I loved. I will miss the characters of this charming little town as I'm sure the author will miss writing about them.
Thea Michener is new to Cimarron Creek, and she brings along a friend by the name of Aimee Jarre. For those who have read the previous novels you will be surprised (so I'm not spoiling it). Suffice it to say that both Thea's story and Aimee's are well thought out, exciting, heartwarming and of course, full of suspense.
Love abounds in this book with many characters finding their special someone, but the love story between Thea and Jackson is one that will stay with you a long time.
I will miss these characters, but the ending was very satisfying. Invest yourself in the whole series!
Multiple times throughout this novel, I had feelings of deja vu... quite convinced I had read it before. The plot was new to me, yet familiar. This is the third title in a series but was easy to read as a stand-alone.
It was an easy-to-read novel of friendship and romance set in a time of hard work and historic cowboys in Texas - simple on the surface. The author did, however, dive a bit deeper with issues of betrayal, unplanned pregnancies, adoption, and abuse. The hero was a Ranger and the heroine a midwife, the supporting cast delightful.
I enjoyed the novel, but personally, it wasn't a must-read, highly loved title - just an easy way to pass a few hours and escape from real life with absolutely no questionable content. My only objection was one part early in the tale where the hero referred to adopted family vs real family and that irked me a little - real family is those we love and support, related by blood or not (and the author did a tremendous job of relating this multiple other times throughout the book.)
I was provided with a complimentary digital copy of this book via NetGalley from the publisher and/or author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The books in this series always fill my heart with the coziest feelings ever. The third and final installment in this trilogy, I'm sad to see it end. A beautiful reminder of times when things were so much simpler.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wonderful book! I didn't realize it was the third in a series until the end, so it does a great job as a stand alone book. I really liked how there was multiple things going on, but somehow they fit together and even though you felt like some of the details weren't adding up, even the small details came into play at the end.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
A Tender Hope is the final book in the wonderful Cimarron Creek trilogy by Amanda Cabot. Thea Michener, who readers of Cabot's will remember as the precocious baby sister of Sarah in her previous trilogy, Texas Dreams, has come to Cimarron Creek in hopes of leaving her tragic loss of husband and baby behind her. She brings with her Aimee Jarre, a Frenchwoman looking for the mother who gave her up for adoption. Together they find friendship and new lives in the town. Jackson Guthrie is a Texas Ranger, determined to find the outlaw gang who killed his brother. He knows something Thea doesn't- her husband was a member of that gang. I thoroughly enjoyed this last installment and how lots of little threads from previous books were tied together. I look forward to more stories from Amanda Cabot in the future.
Midwives have long been part of our history. In this book, the main character is a midwife who is looking for a new start. Recovering from her husband's murder and her stillborn child, she moves to a new town. Instead of living alone and maintaining her widowhood, she takes in a baby and then another roommate. I liked the characters and even though it is part of a series, I didn't feel like I was missing something. It was a good solid read that I wanted to finish as quickly as possible to see what happened.
