Really engaging. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Can't wait to read more by this author.. Good writing and world building,
I really enjoyed this story. I really enjoy romantic suspense books, and Shades of Desire was a great start to a new series. Ms. DePaul writes stories that pull the reader in from page one.
I found this sitting on my review list for Netgalley and couldn't believe how long I had, had it on my kindle. So...I decided to finally get it done :)
New author for me.
I really liked the character of Mac, he felt pretty well rounded etc.
Natalie however, I just couldn't stand her to be honest.
I was trying really hard to be sympathetic about her being/going blind and I kept trying to put myself in her shoes but all of the whinging really got old by the half way mark.
I think because I didn't like the main character of Natalie, I found it hard to get into the rest of the book.
I just think this would have been a lot more enjoyable with less self pity and whining from the heroine (I feel a little mean saying that too).
Unfortunately though, it also meant I didn't really enjoy the romance angle too. I couldn't figure out why Mac was even attracted to her.
As a whole this was a really good story-line. However, it had the potential for a little bit more.
The bad guy/s angle was interesting and I would have liked a little bit more of that instead of Natalie scenes.
I also think the heroine going blind could have been done better, because in the end I didn't feel sympathy for her...just annoyance.
I didn't hate this book, it was interesting enough that I read in a day.
I will probably not continue with this series though.
