Excellent book with the most incredible plot twists and turns. This book lives up to the hype around it, it’s a fast moving and well written suspense thriller with a very original storyline. I loved it. The characters were fierce and strong, and events kept unfolding, all of which made for a great read!
16 years ago Detective D.D. Warren arrested a teenage girl Evie for shooting her father. Now years later Evie is again the main suspect in the death of her husband. Meanwhile Flora who works as an advocate for sexual victim survivors recognizes Evie’s husband as someone she met when she held captive by Jacob Ness. Along with her friend Quincy D.D Warren tries to unravel the tangle of secrets and lies where nothing is as it seems.
Never Tell is the 10th book in the Sergeant D.D. Warren series by Lisa Gardner but can be read as a stand alone. Told from three different perspectives of strong women D.D., Evie and Flora it is an excellent psychological thriller with lots of secrets and twists and turns that keeps misleading the reader An engrossing entertaining twisted read which I would highly recommend to all psychological thriller lovers
I would like to thank Emily Canders , Penguin Random House for providing an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest and fair review.

REVIEW
Three strong female characters in this fast-paced read, what could be better! You are definitely going to need a new manicure after you are done with this nail-biting phycological thriller. With two murders under investigation, the lies, secrets and deceptions, are staggering.
LISA GARDNER has created an exceptional cast of well-developed characters. Her robust story-telling is captivating and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Her writing captured my attention when the computer caught ten rounds, and then I couldn’t stop turning the pages. There was one character, Keith, a computer genius and true crime blogger that had me wondering if perhaps we are going to see him again in another book! Very intriguing. Gardner certainly got my attention with this story.
Gardner is a New York Times bestselling thriller novelist. Thanks to Netgalley, Dutton and Lisa Gardner for an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

OH MY WOW! First, I had no idea this was #10 in D.D Warren series because it reads perfectly as a stand alone. It has me hooked now though to read more D.D Warren.
This book had so many different stories that somehow all looped together to form a web of lies, deceit, murder and backstabbing. Oh, and twists!!
Lisa Gardner is an author to be admired and I personally want her autograph because I think even her autograph would be full of the most poignant well written prose. : - ) I absolutely love her writing. She has a way with words and so many sentences that are worth re-reading a few times because they are that good.
I loved this book and highly recommend it. I do also recommend going into this without knowing too much. It makes it much more "anticipated". This book had me feeling a range of emotions and a super fast pulse at times.
Thank you to #NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review. 5 stars! Please do yourself a favor and read this!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I've read a few of the books in the D.D. Warren series and thought this one was one of the best I've read so far. I don't think you need to have read them all in order to understand this book, as it seems to be good as a standalone as well. That being said, now I am interested in going back and reading the rest of the series.
The books starts out with a woman named Evie who finds her husband shot to death, sees what he's looking at on his laptop and ends up shooting the laptop to erase it, and is then found standing with the gun in her hand. What makes it more interesting is that D.D. had a previous case with Evie 16 years ago, where she was also accused of shooting her father. The story ends up having 3 main women characters, all who had an important part of the plot. The story moved at a very quick pace but was also easy to keep track of all the details. Though there were a lot of components involved, it was explained without being too overly detailed. I also like how it was told from the 3 different perspectives. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it!
Det. D.D. Warren is called to a shooting. When she arrives and discovers she knows the wife of the man killed she is immediately suspicious. Evie at age 16 accidentally shot her father. Evie claims she did not shoot her husband, but did shoot up his computer. Flora, D.D's CI, becomes involved when she recognizes Evie's husband has someone she met while being held captive years ago . Loved the unfolding of the story as these three strong women characters lives intersect to an explosive conclusion.
* Thank you to Netgalley and Dutton Books for my copy of Never Tell, in exchange for an honest review. *
This was my first book by Lisa Gardner and I cant wait to read more. Though I felt it could be read as a stand alone, I now want to go back and read more of the series to find out more about the characters. I really enjoyed the quick wit and pace of the story with a complicated crime that had me guessing and second guessing what I thought. I loved the little glimpses we got into the home lives of D.D, Flora and the then more in-depth life of Evie. I`m really interest to know more about Keith the true crime blogger!
D.D Warren is on another case, but this one she recognizes the suspect from another shooting sixteen years ago! Why did she shot her husband but shoot the computer 12 times? What was on that computer and why did Evie want it hidden. Family secrets and personal ones, who's telling the truth or only part truths.
In perhaps my favorite book of hers to date, Lisa Gardner draws you into an extraordinary tale of three women, two murders, deep secrets and double lives. Distinct story lines are woven together brilliantly while maintaining that all-consuming, nail-biting level of tension. Gardner is such a master of suspense, her prowess indisputable with a story that’s both complex and easily followed—a feat not many authors could accomplish.
“Sirens. Down the street. Growing louder. Coming closer…
My parent’s kitchen.
My husband’s office.
Blood.
Dark, viscious. A spray. A pool.”
NEVER TELL opens with a man slumped over on his office chair—dead—his pregnant wife holding a smoking gun, the police rushing in moments later. Detective D.D. Warren knows this woman, Evie Carter, from sixteen years ago when she claimed she shot her father accidentally. Now, a second death, one she again claims she is innocent of.
When Flora Dane (kidnapping survivor and Warren’s CI) catches news of the murder on TV, she recognizes the dead man instantly, she remembers him from a seedy bar while still held captive by Jacob Ness. Shaking and racked with guilt over what she should have done back then, she’s determined to figure out his connection to her once captor.
Together, D.D., Flora and a motley crew of investigators begin to unravel a case that is darker and more tangled than expected—so tangled in fact, that its connection to two other cases makes matters all the more complicated and shocking.
Gardner pens a compelling procedural thriller replete with her trademark twists and turns, and strong, well-developed characters. The antithetic and evolving nature of D.D. and Flora’s relationship is fascinating, and really comes alive on the page. The case at hand is personal to them both, and we see their vulnerability exposed under a new light—not only in how they relate to each other, but also how Flora is forced to re-visit her harrowing past in a way she’d not intended.
Adrenaline-charged, cleverly wrought and unrelentingly intense, NEVER TELL is an immediate 2019 favorite, and a page-turner no suspense junkie should miss.
Lisa Gardner’s Never Tell is an excellent continuation of the Flora Dane series. Flora and DD were reluctant partners in previous books, but now, their working relationship has significantly improved. They work together well together to piece together the mystery, and their teamwork is instrumental.
The story is told from multiple character viewpoints, which keeps the reader on their toes and engaged in the mystery. I particularly enjoyed how Lisa Gardner metered out information from chapter to chapter, so we gradually learned additional details about the first murder in Evie’s life, that of her father. As details are revealed, we get little clues as to the final solution, but the reader isn’t quite sure until the final twist occurs.
Another great read from Lisa Gardner! Looking forward to the next one!
This book was AWESOME. I had such a hard time not flipping ahead to find out the end! It has characters to root for, darkness, twists... and if you're a Gardner can, of course, characters you know and love. There was so much going on in this book, you seriously have to check it out! Also great setup for future books. Will DD and Flora get to be actual friends? Will Flora actually get to, maybe, be HAPPY? Can't wait for the next one!!
Thank you so much to Dutton Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have devoured every single Lisa Gardner book there is and I have loved every single one of her books, especially the ones with D.D. Warren as the main character. I was so glad when I saw her new book featured my favorite detective and her crazy sidekicks back at it again.
When Evie returns to her house she finds the last thing she would ever expect, her husband Conrad shot dead in his office chair, still holding the murder weapon. It immediately throws Evie back sixteen years ago when she walked into a similar scene at her parent’s home except it was her father she found shot in the kitchen that time. Evie takes the blame for shooting her father and even though she didn’t shoot and kill her husband, the police arrest her when they find her holding the gun.
Flora is still trying to heal six years after escaping her kidnapper and is helping D.D. Warren as her CI. When D.D. starts working Evie’s husbands case Flora realizes she knows Conrad and knows he’s somehow tied to her kidnapper.
With the help of Flora, Evie, and a crime-obsessed blogger named Keith, D.D. Warren solves her case but no one expected what the outcome would be.
I love Lisa Gardner continues to have D.D. Warren such a huge character in her series and I love that she is bringing back Flora in her stories as well. This book continuously made me gasp, laugh, and want to be in the pages along with the characters. Her writing style constantly makes me feel like I can’t read the book fast enough and she always makes you think you know the outcome and then you’re blown away at the end.
Thank you so much to Lisa Gardner for writing another amazing book and Dutton books for giving me the opportunity to read it.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Emily Canders at Dutton, and Lisa Gardner for the opportunity to read and review her latest D.D. Warren installment - 5 glowing stars. This series just keeps getting better and better, although first-time readers to this series would still love the thrill ride of this book.
D.D Warren's latest case involves the shooting death of a husband, discovered by the police with his wife, Evie, standing in his office with a gun, having just fired shots to destroy his computer. She's immediately booked for murder. D.D. recognizes her from a case when she was new to the force - Evie then standing over the dead body of her father. This book also brings back Flora, survivor of Jacob Ness' kidnapping, working as a Confidential Informer now for D.D.
The intersection of all these people and cases is a total thrill ride. I loved trying to figure it all out and the great ending of the book. Can't wait to read the next in this series!
Both first-time readers and veteran fans alike will appreciate this gripping new novel in the D.D. Warren series. The fast paced, multi-perspective narrative combined with Gardner’s unique writing style is captivating. In a genre that is often saturated with familiar plot thesis, Lisa Gardner has risen above the fray to produce an original, thought provoking piece of literature. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

This novel was fast paced and never slowed down. I got pulled in immediately and loved every page of it. It was tense from the beginning and loved each woman’s persepective. The chapters are short and well plotted. You have the detective, the abuse survivor and the suspect widow all bonded by a past and current murder. I highly recommend this book.

Another awesome entry in the Sergeant Detective D.D. Warren series. Both D.D. and Flora Dane have a past connection to a new murder case in Never Tell.
Evie is happily married to Conrad and four months pregnant with their first child. Coming home after work, she finds Conrad shot dead in his study. Something on his laptop disturbs her so much that she calmly picks up the murder weapon and shoots the computer twelve times. The police find her holding the gun and arrest her for murder.
Evie was D.D.’s first murder case sixteen years earlier. Evie had shot her father. Her only comment, “It was an accident. An unfortunate accident.” Evie was not charged.
Flora Dane, now working as D.D.’s confidential informant, recognizes the victim, Conrad, from her days with her abductor, Jacob. What secrets are hiding behind Evie’s and Conrad’s seemingly normal facade?
Never Tell is another gripping thriller by Lisa Gardner. Told from the viewpoint of Evie, D.D., and Flora, Flora’s sections were the ones I was racing toward. Flora describes more of what happened to her during her abduction. In addition, Flora shows almost a human side in this book, which is nice to see.
While this book is a highly recommended thriller, I would suggest strongly to read Find Her, where Flora Dane’s story is initially told, before reading this one. It will increase your understanding of Flora’s story (plus it’s a great book on its own). With that sole caveat, Never Tell is highly recommended to all thriller lovers. You won’t be disappointed! 5 stars!
Thanks to Dutton Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Another solid DD Warren read from Lisa Gardner. Fun and quick read that is enjoyable as a suspenseful thriller. Well done.
I always look forward to another book by this author.

Another solid installment with some really well written characters. A few new characters introduced in this one. Hoping they continue on to future books. Mystery wasn't as strong as previous books, but still kept attention and was a quick read.
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!
This is one of my most anticipated novels of this year. After reading almost every novel Lisa Gardner has written, I knew that another Flora Dane and D.D. Warren story would make my year. Thanks to Netgalley and Dutton Books, I was given a review copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I loved it so much that I read it in a day.
Never Tell is Lisa Gardner's tenth full-length Detective D.D. Warren novel. It is published by Dutton Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House. In this exciting crime thriller we are introduced to Evie Carter, a pregnant math teacher who is seemingly in a loving relationship with her husband, Conrad. One evening she is late coming home and worries of an altercation with Conrad. But what she finds is her husband dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. She is dumbstruck by what she sees, but what she views on his laptop terrifies her. She grabs the gun from his hand and fires at the laptop. Soon the police swarm her home and she is arrested for murder.
Sergeant Detective D. D. Warren recognizes Evie from a incident many years prior when a sixteen year old Evie Hopkins accidentally shot and killed her father while cleaning a rifle. D.D. had been new to the force then. But Evie is not the only one who recognizes someone in the Carter case. Watching television in her small apartment, vigilante-turned-police-informant, Flora Dane (returning for the third time), recognizes Conrad Carter. And her blood runs cold. She flashes back to the darkest time in her life when murderer and serial rapist Jacob Ness had held her captive for over four hundred days. It was at a bar while Flora was emaciated and terrified that Conrad met with Jacob Ness. She wishes to know more about her case and dials up the woman who rescued her from Ness... Special Agent Kimberly Quincy of the FBI.
Is it possible the same woman could be present at two fatal shootings and not be responsible? What connection does Conrad Carter have to Jacob Ness? And can Flora Dane open her damaged memories and break her golden rule to never tell her story again? The stakes are high and a game of cat and mouse is about to set Boston on fire...literally.
Never Tell combined three of my favorite characters into one novel and the team up was epic. With D.D. already acquainted with Kimberly from Catch Me, and also with Quincy's father and step-mother in the 4th Man, Warren is ready to play nice with the Feds. The shifting powers between three alpha characters was treated with respect and humor. And I loved D.D. and Kimberly's exchange about motherhood and family life, with Flora looking on in agitation. The story is set at Christmas time and I enjoyed Gardner's description of the holidays in Boston, since I love the city in December. The mysteries, yes there is more than one, are lead by facts that may or may not be the absolute truths. Working with Flora's damaged psyche and untrustworthy players, the clues are thick with question marks. I found the twists and turns extremely satisfying as I maneuvered through the cases. There is murder, arson, and dark web espionage abound, all leading to a fiery finale that nearly costs one character their life.
Kirsten Potter returned to present the audio book of Never Tell, which I used in part to read this novel. Her delivery was excellent as always and by now D.D. Warren has become a part of Potter. Her delivery of accents, voices, and sheer sense of urgency drove the book along a quick pace. I hope that she reads this series for a long while.
Five stars later Never Tell pulled me in quick and did not let go until the explosive finale. I was treated to a triple team up with three strong female leads that played well off of new character, Evie. The mysteries were juicy and the reveals to die for (literally for some characters). I have yet to meet a Lisa Gardner novel that I did not like, and Never Tell is now in my top 10 thrillers.
Because there is always time to read,

This was another great book by Lisa Gardner! I will always read her and especially her Dd warren ones!!
A complicated, chilling and extremely well written novel.
There are two stories going on simultaneously and Ms. Gardner manages to intertwine them beautifully. The first deals with a murder in which the wife is the chief suspect – one who shot her father when she was 14. The other involves a kidnapping and sexual assault. Even though the perpetrator has been dead for 7 years, Flora continues to search for answers. When she discovers that the murdered man was someone she met while kidnapped, more questions arise than answers.
This book will keep you up all night. You will not want it to end and the “just one more page” will not suffice. The characters are intricate and well developed. You are exposed to their flaws and surprised by their strengths. The dialogue is smooth and spot on.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a huge fan of Lisa Gardner. Never Tell will not disappoint and has become my favorite of her books.
