The romance was a bit too quick for me but the drama about the murder was a bit more interesting to me.
I really had a hard time liking Alexandra whose life goal is to marry a mafia boss that she has never met. When Boris is murdered, she just marries his son, Viktor instead. Then she decides to use sex to influence her new husband.
Viktor suspects Alexandra's father of murdering his father based on the fact that he owed Boris a bunch of money - no other reason and no proof. Innocent until proven guilty probably isn't used in the mafia but I would think that they would look for more proof before starting to break bones.
I am hoping that we learn more about Elena in the next book since that is not resolved. Plus, I want to see more of Roman!
Married to the Russian Kingpin is Book 1 in Leslie North’s brand new Sokolov Brothers novella series, and is all you’d expect from a Russian Mob story.
Alexandra has little ambition in life, other than becoming the wife and arm candy of a powerful man, so she never really expects to fall head over heels for her unexpected groom. Viktor is reeling from his father’s death, but feels duty bound to marry the woman promised to his father and lay the foundation of a stable and committed leader for his people.
I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this story, as Alexandra seemed immature and fickle in her ideas and reasoning, but as the story progressed I became fixated in finding out who killed Boris, and whether Viktor and Alexa’s relationship would survive. A great start to a new series and definitely enough to keep me interested in what comes next.
I received a copy of this book via netgalley. I enjoy a good romance on occasion and thought this would make for an afternoon of light reading.
I did not enjoy this book one bit. The characters had no depth, the dialogue between them was stilted. The writing felt a bit juvenile. I felt that outside of the sex scenes, the author struggled to put together this story. There really wasn’t much of a plot. I wish the author better luck with future endeavors
This is the story of Alexandra and Victor. Alexandra is about to get married to Victor's father when his unexpected death brings Victor to his position
to the altar. As Victor gets acquainted with Alexandra exploring their passion, he suspects Sergei Volkin Alexander's father for the murder of his father. Trying to find the murderer and retaining his position as mafia boss he ends up being from cold to hot with Alexandra.
It's a nice fast pace story with some hot sex scenes. A nice reading for a Sunday afternoon. I like the contradictive picture of a Russian mafia mob being romantic and render while keeping his hard exterior posture.
Married to the Russian Kingpin: Sokolov Brothers Book One Written by Leslie North
“I’m getting married! I’m finally getting married, and to a rich, powerful Russian mafia boss, too. My own happily ever after.”
Wow~I finished this book in one sitting. I couldn’t believe when I hit the last page...I didn’t want the story to end! I’m excited for book two Falling for the Mob Soldier. It is next on my TBR list!
“I’ll do it. For my family.”
The expression careful what you wish for could not be more true...what you may think will be your ultimate dream may soon become your worst nightmare when granted. To live in the unknown, fear, uncertainty, being on guard, recipient of others rash mood swings may not be worth the title of Mrs.
“This mansion, beautiful as it appeared, was to be her prison.”
This book keeps you guessing until the final pages. It is filled with deceit, mystery, passion, pride, loyalty, revenge, sacrifices, secrets and hope.
“Confusion tugged at him, but he remained stoic in front of the men. Bad enough that he was uncertain how far he was willing to go; he didn’t need anyone to doubt him or his position as leader.”
Viktor Sokolov doesn’t know if he should make love to his beautiful new wife… or kill her. Growing up with a father who held a high position in the Russian mob, Alexandra Volkin was thrilled when her parents signed a contract promising her to a Russian mob boss, even though she’d never met him. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Leslie North is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
Book 1 in the Sokolov Brothers novella series, Married to the Russian Kingpin is a great read. I found the storyline and the characters intriguing and well developed. I will definitely be recommending to other and looking forward to reading more by this wonderful author
Thanks Netgalley for an eARC to read and give my honest opinion.
I happen to love the covers on this author's books, charming and bad ass :) This was a quick read for me and honestly barely above a novella size. My issue with books this short, just so happen to mimic what happens when I watch short movies. The world building and fleshing out just isn't enough to really pique my interest and I feel short changed. Alexandra is a bit wish you washy with her dreams of becoming a mafia wife, which pains me that a woman can't ask for more above her station than a scary marriage. Viktor though plays his part well, the only chink in his armor is apparently visiting and giving money to orphanages. Someone though has to pay for poisoning his father and the situation that follows just doesn't feel like a possibility. I gave it three stars since I was not swept away.
I didn’t really care for this one very much. I was kind of put off by Alexandra from the beginning and it made it difficult for me to get into the story. She lacked substance and the ease at which she switched from one groom to another was off putting
Reading this was like pulling teeth. DNF.
None of the characters had depth or substance. It was jarring and didn't flow with any sincerity.
I thoroughly loved reading the amazing and engaging romance story. Alexandra is supppose to marry the mob boss, Boris, but due to his unexpected death, she is marrying his eldest son, Viktor. Alexandra tries to make her marriage work, but Viktor's coldness toward her keeps changing. Read the highly recommended and wonderfully written love story that captivates the reader from the first page until the last page.
I reviewed a copy of the book from NetGalley.

These opinions are my own!
Loved this book - great story quick read !!
Who knew how much I would ❤️❤️❤️ Leslie North’s Russian mobsters as much as her Sheikhs!!!
Alexandra is set to marry into the Russian mob when she finds out on her wedding day her intended husband Boris Sokolov has been murdered ... his son Victor decides she will then become his wife.
Alex goes into the marriage wholeheartedly & she is very attracted to Victor. Her sweetness - innocence - beauty & kindness - but also her strength draws Victor in until he is given news that it is possible Alex’s father had something to do with his own father’s death...
I read this book in one sitting - fully entertained by the storyline - loved these characters - great read & can’t wait to read the others in the series !!
Alexandra is about to marry a Russian mobster. She has never met him but is excited to become a matriarch. Viktor’s father is supposed to marry Alexandra but is murdered so Viktor takes his place. Viktor is now head of the family and will do anything to find the murderer of his father. When Alexandra’s father is accused of the killing, she will prove his innocence no matter the cost. Can Alexandra work her way into her husband’s heart and save her family?
Short, sexy story with an arranged marriage and a murder. The Russian mafia and a little bit of a cliffhanger.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
Good
An arranged marriage made in Heaven. Insta-love happens for this interesting couple in this fast paced, well written story.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
Wow, I wasn't sure what to expect. Married to the Russian Kingpin, was way better than I expected. Alexandra is a very strong willed Russian woman, who stands up for what she believes. To Viktor, family is everything. Unfortunately they are on opposite sides, but still find the way to work it out.
