Sacred Ground, Sticky Floors was a thought provoking book. I enjoyed the honest way that the author shared her life, thoughts, and experiences with us. Through her words that describe her thoughts and experiences we get to see her real life experiences with her own family and her foster and adoption experiences. She shares some scripture with us and some of her religious views. And she shares how no matter how hard we do everything right, sometimes things just don’t go the way we want them to. Her family has shared their lives with many foster children over the years. Her honest stories of the good and the bad days throughout are relatable.

There are not many books that I like to read over once I have read them once. This book does not fit that category! It hasn't been long since I have finished it, and I already have been back go the "mom guilt" chapter! Jami's honesty with motherhood is a soothing balm for those moms who love their children, feel like they have tried their best, seen failures, but refuse to give up. This book is for any mom who has battled "mom guilt". I received this book as a free digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this read! Jami's personal stories intertwined with principles from Scripture and her parenting experience were easy to read and relate to. I appreciated her honesty and transparency and also her emphasis on intentional, not perfect, parenting. Highly recommend!

I appreciated this meander through Jami’s parenting journey. Sacred Ground, Sticky Floors is a reminder that the sins, mistakes, and accomplishments of our children do not define us. She speaks frankly about “mommy guilt” and the way mothers chastise themselves for the mistakes made by our very human children.

Know God – Jami invites you to not only know who God is but to believe Him. We have to trust God. When we do that we can allow Him to take control of our children’s lives. When we trust Him we can “let Jesus be Jesus.”

Know yourself – Jami is very frank about the type of mom she is. This encourages us to figure out where we fall in the parenting spectrum. Are you a helicopter mom? Or, a mom who is not bothered by anything? Are you somewhere in the middle?

Run your race – Sacred Ground, Sticky Floors encourages mothers to recognize that the job they’re doing is an important one. But, they shouldn’t try to do it while judging or envying each other. Be the mom God created you to be. Raise the children He gave you and not the ones you wish you had.
