I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have been trying to take care of myself more and been reading a lot more spiritual books and new age books. This book gave me a lot to think about and gave me some spiritual wisdom and insight I would have not had without it. It made me feel good reading it and express myself the right way and that is calmly and more focused. That is something that I needed.
If you are planning to meditate or currently meditating, Jenny Light's book is a must-have.
Jenny Light includes 26 Spiritual Qualities of the Bhagavad Gita as an inspirational, practical and spiritual workbook. I find Jenny’s book authentic, authoritative and wise as well as inclusive and that is why I believe it so valuable.
Jenny writes as though you can hear her voice teaching you pranayama (Conscious breath) and conscious meditation to achieve a super-conscious and naturally happy state. Jenny says: “Meditation is the conscious process of closing the doors to the bodily senses and going within. Through inward-focused meditation, we embark on the journey to becoming Self-realised to the light within us is that which interconnects all things. God-realised inner knowing, learned through meditation, goes beyond words, intellectual understanding or any other mind-based stuff and is realised as an experientially profound truth that is known at the deepest level of being. Self-realisation is God-realisation”.
You will be drawn to keep this special book at your bedside and refer to it often while you grow in your meditative practice. I highly recommend anyone who wants to go to another greater as well as a more profound level in their lives to acquire Divine Meditations. This includes anyone from all walks of life because of its inclusivity and deep connectedness.
Thank you sincerely Jenny Light for the gift of this book.

Outstanding book with tools to return to our unified consciousness
The book contains meditation practices integrated with pranayama, the singing of sacred sounds and affirmations, as well as concentration techniques to achieve a deeper and higher level of practice. Illuminatingly as the author mentions, to become Self-Realized it requires going inward through meditation and find the Light of consciousness that interconnects us with all things.
The way the author explains has a profound and elevated language, which greatly enriched and motivated me, touching my heartstrings and resonating with my spiritual essence. Although I have not meditated for a long time, I have had deep experiences in which I have transformed my inner reality in that short space of time, obtaining faster and more effective results than any other modality of therapy. What I find very revealing is that by focusing on an affirmation that resonates with the truth of my inner Being, it produces a transformation of consciousness, which can even be felt as a pleasant current in my physical body, mentally I am more lucid and emotionally I feel more stable and happy.
Only through practicing and having direct personal experience we will reach the gift. In my own experience, meditation has given a deep edified meaning to my daily life, be more aware of the interconnection with my congeners and the natural world that surrounds me. Likewise, my perspective and perception of my life are beautified, even in the face of problems, because I can find the positive aspects within the adverse circumstances, therefore it has helped me to overcome my challenges and improve my relationships.
The state of deep connection with our inner Being, is to be at home, and at the same time you bless yourself and everyone around you. I thank you Jenny Light and also embrace you from my unified consciousness.
My sincere appreciation to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book

This book is divided into four parts:
Yogic Meditation – She describes the eight-step path to enlightenment
Taking it Deeper with the Bhagavad Gita’s Twenty-Six Soul Qualities – The author explains the Bhagavad Gita and Sri Krishna’s message within it. The qualities are found in three verses.
Meditations on the Twenty-Six Qualities – Each meditation follows a quality. For example, the first quality is Fearlessness (abhayam). For this quality, there is a writing exercise and a prayer followed by a grounding and connecting exercise. She also includes a breathing exercise associated with this quality followed by a meditation and an affirmation.
Transcendence through Devotion – This part begins with a breathing exercise to connect to the Divine. This is followed by a devotional meditation and poem.
There were many parts of the book that I really enjoyed. The meditations are beautiful, but I had difficulties with the Christian and biblical references. I recommend this book to anyone that would love to go deeper with their meditation.
This was a excellent guide to a more spiritual approach to meditation and learning the background of the Buddhist teachings. I found it very informative and useful for my own practice. I feel that I learned quite a bit from this book in regard to studying Buddhism and the history behind meditation.
I appreciated that the author included Bible verses and prayers . This book is a combination of meditation and learning. However the act of meditation itself is the focal point .
I highly recommend this book for all that wish to learn their practice further and enjoy the history and religion basis of Buddhism.
Thank you John Hunt Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in return of my honest review.
This is a book I will continue to reread, slowly in small relevant predetermined pieces. I found it informative and mostly satisfying, however I am torn in my review as I am unclear at the marketed reader for this book.
The book is written based upon the 26 Bhagavad Gitas Soul Qualities. The introduction to the book explains relevant Sanskrit terminology and concepts such as the sense doors., However In following pages the author describes how to set up a meditation practice and a meditation space. As a person with a regular meditation practice and regular mentoring in mindfulness from a Buddhist perspective I found the books purpose confusing. I felt that anyone reading and continuing past the introduction would already have at minimum a good understanding of mindfulness and be someone who has a comfortable, possilby regular practice.
The author regularly mentions God throughout the book which I understand in the context of ‘godlike qualities’ in the Bhagavad Vita however she then then swapped through the text with quotes from the bible. I found myself flicking through the book trying to ascertain who her audience was. I found the regular references to God off putting and thought the book would have benefitted to utilising a more generic term for a higher power, to be inclusive of all people wanting to explore divine meditation practices. I found that this detracted from the otherwise fabulous content she was presenting.
Putting this criticism aside, as a reader who picked up this book having a prior understanding of the Sanskrit, and a understanding of mindfulness from a Vipassana Buddhism perspective I found the book full of gems. I wished that i had access to it prior to meditation retreats as the author so succinctly explained ways meditators may experience sensations such as colours,, buzzing etc, and to accept these sensations without the ego wanting to know what the meaning of them are.
I will reread this book regularly and thoroughly recommend it to meditators, of any belief, who have a solid basic prior knowledge of mindfulness and meditation.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
Going to give this to my husband to read. He lives and breathes all things yoga and meditation. I like the way bill flows I also like the sense of calm that prevails in the"speaking" throughout the book.
I am very much a learner in the art of meditation, trying over the years to discipline myself to practise daily and deal better with quietening my mind but inevitably I give up after a time. Receiving my copy of Divine Meditations from Netgalley raised my hopes that once again I would find the inspiration to 'try harder'.
Unfortunately as I began to read I felt my confidence ebb and the realisation form that this was a book aimed at those more knowledgeable, more spiritual than myself. I was, however, urged forward by the genuine enthusiasm of the author and I reached a virtual'clearing' and the text was easier and I felt more encouraged.
What I would like however would be an audio book or cd of the individual meditations to maybe accompany the written word for those like me who still struggle.
Author Jenny Light's passionate spirituality and dedication to teaching spirituality shines through every page and every sentence of this helpful and encouraging guide. Even if you are not on the past of Eastern Spirituality, I still recommend this book for its focus on Self-realization and Oneness. Who doesn't need to learn to focus, to direct Will, and to release concerns, worries, and anxieties? Certainly no one I know. Take the book slowly, even though the author's passion may incite you to read quickly. Read, ponder, and learn.
Devine Meditations is a unique book that brings together prayer and Buddhist meditations. I truly enjoyed the meditations.
A great introduction to some of the most important Buddhist meditations. I'll be recommending this one.
A book of meditation for those who want more of a divine spiritual experience. Bible verses and prayers are included with learning to breathe and relax. This is the first book I have seen that combines meditation with a inspirational experience. Learning to meditate and finding inner peace and joy is the focus of this book. This author tells how it can be used in your everyday living. My minister son will be getting this book as soon as it comes out. I received this book from Net Galley and John Hunt Publishing for a honest review and no compensation otherwise. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is the perfect bridge between secular meditation and a more spiritual and religious approach.
It’s set out clearly and explains the benefits well.
This is a spiritual look at meditation and prayer which I found an interesting read. I loved the prayers that were included with each meditation and the background on each one. I would love a cd of the meditations to go along with this as I think that would make it even more powerful.
