I really liked the paranormal aspect of the story. The secret government agency that monitors and protects the nation from paranormal beings was interesting and the idea of an immortal crew in possession of the Holy Grail was refreshing and unique. I'd rate is 4 stars for the magic/paranormal story line.

The romance only rated a 2 for me. I felt it was too rushed and both characters, although strong and complex on their own, didn't really sell their connection as anything lasting. They had potential but in the end it seemed their attraction fizzled out rather than strengthened as the story progressed. Long story short I didn't feel a real connection between the MCs and ultimately couldn't warm up to either of them.

I just loved setting sail on the Sea Dog with Lisa Kessler’s immortal pirates! This fast-paced read had a bit of everything I love – romance, intrigue, a strong and smart heroine, a hero with some serious pirate swagger, and a cast of characters that has you longing to part of the crew.

I was fully invested in this series after the first book, Magnolia Mystic, so I wasn’t surprised to find myself quickly drawn in to the life of Samuel Keegan. He’s met his match in Dr. Charlotte Sinclair, but being immortal makes getting involved with anyone a risky proposition if you want to protect yourself from heartbreak. For Charlotte, Keegan brings out a side of her she doesn’t often let herself show, and once she learns the truth about Keegan she knows she wants to find a way to spend her life with him – and having that life be one that is immortal does all sorts of things to her inner historian! These two were all sorts of fun together and I really enjoyed their playful banter, especially when some pirate humor was thrown in.

The quest for the holy grail, which the Sea Dog crew needs to maintain their immortality, has Keegan and Charlotte right in the middle of things, and both their lives are in danger. New players are introduced, old players can’t be trusted, and, my favorite part, some characters from one of the author’s other series make an appearance, which, in my opinion, has the potential to create some great crossover storylines.

The only thing rougher than the seas for Samuel and Charlotte is the path they have to take to get to their happy ever after. The Sea Dog crew plays an important role in their story, from their need to protect Keegan from heartache, to their acceptance of Charlotte as part of their crew. And learning Charlotte’s background added exactly what this story needed to pull all the parts together.

This is book 2 in the series but can easily be read as a standalone, although there is an overall series arc, so why not go back to book 1 and start from the beginning! Another great book from Lisa Kessler!

Rather short but interesting story about a crew of pirates living as immortals after drinking from the Holy Grail. This is the second book in the series (I have not read the first) and it can easily be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading book 1 first.

Keegan has been around for more than 200 years and is now a singer in a local band. When the crew realizes their immortality is waning, they want to sip from the Grail, only to discover it gone. And the search is on. Charlotte Sinclair is an expert on pirates and is asked by a government agent to help research who could have stolen the Grail.

The story is original, but somehow the characters did not appeal to me that much. I never felt the chemistry between Keegan and Charlotte. Maybe the story was too short to form a connection with the characters.

Wow! What an adventure! Pirate's Passion is the second book of Lisa Kessler's Sentinels of Savannah series and we get a wonderful mix of pirate by day and rock star by night in Keegan!
Keegan is enamored when he sees Charlotte in the crowd at one of his concerts. Their chemistry is off the charts-only Charlotte has to leave for an emergency. Keegan is left off-kilter. He is drawn to her, but he is immortal. Having seen it all before, he is not so anxious to bring on a lot of heartache. His will power is shredded though, when the government enlists Charlotte's help in finding the lost holy grail. Being she is the resident historian with a vast knowledge of the area, she's the one to have on your side.
Charlotte is dumbfounded to not only meet Keegan, but to find out he is the revered pilot of the ship that she knows all about! She has to calm down as they have to work together to get the cup back from nefarious men. Adventure is at her doorstep!
I loved the whole story and how it played out! The historian meeting her life's work was rather humbling to Charlotte! The chemistry with Keegan could not be ignored and it leapt from the pages! He was so taken with her! Romance aside, the interesting plot was very well crafted! It weaved back and forth and kept you intrigued as well as guessing! Lots of high stakes mystery with a heavy dose of suspense too!
If high-seas adventure is your thing, then punch your ticket and take a ride aboard the Sea Dog!!

I simply loved this book. I have to admit that I didn't like the first one in the series " Magnolia mystic" but I really enjoyed reading "Pirate's passion".
What I really like about Kessler is her writing style. Her books are always fast paced, have lot's of action and there is always good love story with lots of steam. That's exactly why I loved this one.
The book has a really good combination of action and Samuel's and Charlotte's relationship. They were so good together and you can practically feel their connection.
So if you are like me and love fast paced and steamy reads then don't miss this one.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Sentinels of Savannah series written by Lisa Kessler. Samuel Keegan used to man the wheel of the Sea Dog over 200 years ago, but these days he’s the front man of a southern rock band. Rum and women are plentiful, but his world is changing rapidly now that his crew is back together searching for the Holy Grail to break their curse. But the quest leads him to a historian with raven hair and a wicked smile. She holds all the answers, but she could also spell death for them all. Dr. Charlotte Sinclair works for the Maritime Museum in Savannah, an expert on ancient pirate wrecks. When a government agent requests her help in a top-secret investigation, she discovers not only is the Holy Grail real, but the lead singer of her favorite band is actually the immortal pilot of the Sea Dog crew. This is a great book with a fun story and well developed characters. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down until the end. If you love a paranormal books then you need to read this book and the other book in this series. I can’t wait to read then next book by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

What an interesting couple - Charlotte - a historian that specializes in pirate history and an immortal pirate - Keegan! They are thrown together by Agent Bale to find the Holy Grail which is missing and the pirates need to keep their immortality as it is wearing off after hundreds of years.

Lots of intrigue as they try to locate the cup and battle the brotherhood that is also searching for it. Lots of paranormal thrown in and Charlotte finds out a secret that has been kept for years and impacts her life.

There was non-stop action and I could not put the book down! I had to keep reading to find out how the pirates would get the cup back, how Keegan could overcome his fear of losing another woman that he loved, and how they could overcome the brotherhood.

A few sad parts but mostly a great HEA, and loved that Keegan wanted the gang to be pirates again - this time for the government!

Rating 5/5

Holy smokes this was steamy and full of pirate passion! I loved the immortal take on pirates - a first for me and I was more than pleasantly surprised! Keegan was the epitome of a sexy, passionate male and the way he talks had me swooning and sighing! The plot was also very adventurous and matched well to the pacing of the romance. In fact, without the mystery of it, I don't think the romance would have done as well as it did but it was definitely so much more! A thrilling ride you definitely don't want to sit out on.

Love love love this series. With every book it just gets better and better. Charlotte knew so much about the pirates as she was a historian who specialized in privateering. Keegan was someone she had written papers on. They had chemistry from the beginning. I am excited to see what comes next. These books can’t come fast enough for me.

Lisa Kessler’s Sentinels of Savannah is simply amazing. Book two, Pirate's Passion is a marvelous blend of suspense, intrigue, action and romance. From the beginning there are twists and turns, I did not expect after reading the first book in the series. Where this series is headed is unpredictable which only makes this book even more of a riveting read.

Samuel Keegan, like the rest of the former crew of the Sea Dog, was introduce in the first book. Now he comes to vivid life, as Charlotte and he continued the dangerous search for the Holy Grail. These two are perfect together! I couldn’t help but think this must be the fantasy story of all historians. Who knew history could be so exciting. Just as one mystery is solved, another comes along.

This is book 2 in the Sentinels of Savannah series. It can absolutely be read as a stand alone (I did) however I went back and read the previous book just so I understood the things I was missing. This book is about Samuel Keegan (Keegan) and Charlotte Sinclair. Keegan is currently the front man for a southern rock band but he is also an immortal pirate who has been alive for over 200 years. Charlotte has been tasked by a government agent to help them with research about the holy grail, never realizing that there are more things to life than what she knows. Or knowing that the man that she met (and kissed) was an immortal! And a former pirate that she has researched at that! But the connection that they share will not only change their lives but also reveal secrets that Charlotte never realized she had.

I really liked this book!! It sucked me in from the beginning and kept me reading all the way to the end! Charlotte is a strong and likable woman who has trust issues but there are definitely reasons for that. Keegan is this irreverent and humorous man who has seen a lot in the years he has been alive. To the point that he doesn't think he can handle any more friendships or heart ache. But throwing them together and reading about how much they come to care about each other is great! And then when you find out some secrets about Char's past? Loved it! I read this book without reading the first book, but I have since gone back and gotten the first one because I liked this one so much. So for me, it was a way to get me hooked on this series and keep me wanting more!

What do you do when you are intrigued by a man who is the lead singer in the band you love . Your assistant says that you should have an evening of yesses . She knows all about the Sea Dog and its crew so when a government man shows up and asks for her help . She finds out the man of her dreams is a real pirate and she must help the crew find the Holy Grail and keep her love alive in the process .
Ok ladies lets talk about these characters . They are well written and are complex . Samuel is well lets just say this , he is hot, sexy and a pirate . He is also an old soul that is burdened with the past . He is also immortal . You will fall for his tortured soul and will want to heal him anyway you can . Charlotte is a sweet over worked museum employee that has worked hard to get where she is . But she hasn't had fun in a long time . When she meets Keegan she finally lets her hair down and goes with the flow . As you read her you find out actually there is more to her then she knows. She is strong and independent and can drive Keegan crazy . These are great characters on their own but when they are together nothing can stop them from getting what they want . The rest of the crew is back also to help Keegan and Charlotte out . Love all these characters so much

The first thing I must say is if you love romance, both regular and paranormal, you really need to read this author, and this book just highlights why. She can write words on a page, and the reader is immediately drawn into the story, no matter the content, and the people and places just come alive. Now, on specifically to this particular book. I am not a huge fan of pirates, but that doesn’t matter as this crew is so fun, hot, and full of kindness, you can’t help but love them. This latest book (there was previously a short story to introduce us to the cast) is full of great action, touch-your-heart romance, and an intense plot of finding lost treasure and will more than please fans of paranormal romance. And, the author is tying in another series of hers that just opens up so many stories. I really loved the ending of this book, and I can’t wait to read more. Please, let there be lots more! I highly recommend this book, series, and this author! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

An immortal pirate turned rock star, a brilliant historian with a hunger for adventure, a quest for the Holy Grail… How could Pirate’s Passion not be fun? It’s Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones with a healthy dose of romance and secret government agencies thrown in.

Samuel Keegan is a charming rogue who enjoys his immortality and an ever-changing stream of women in his bed. The threat of losing his immortality is only dimmed by the panic he feels at risking losing his heart to Dr. Charlotte Sinclair. Keegan has lost a woman he loved once, and he feels no desire to drown in that despair again. Only he can’t seem to help himself from falling for Char. She’s an expert on pirates and knows all about the crew of the Sea Dog who supposedly died over two hundred years ago. Keegan and Char click immediately and I loved their chemistry. How things work out when one is immortal and the other not, I won’t say. But I did enjoy the ride author Lisa Kessler took these two on. Keegan is the perfect fantasy of a pirate turned rock star. He’s a gentleman and a scoundrel, and who can resist that? Not me, and definitely not Char. She’s his match in every way and their romance was sexy one moment, fun the next, and melted my heart the moment after that.

Pirate’s Passion is the second book in the Sentinels of Savannah series but you don’t have to have read Magnolia Mystic to follow along. The ongoing search for the Holy Grail – the cup that gave the Sea Dog pirates their immortality – continues in this story and we also delve further into the world of the mysterious government agency, Department 13. The quest for the cup was exciting and I was completely invested in this storyline. The rest of the world building was where the story hit a bit of a snag for me. It wasn’t quite as exciting, perhaps because it’s explored from the viewpoint of the somewhat bland Agent Bale. There was also a case of a lot being thrown in to spur further stories, which did set up some interesting prospects for future books but also had the side effect of leaving the villains in this one somewhat underdeveloped. Still, I enjoyed Pirate’s Passion overall. Ms. Kessler knows how to deliver sexy pirates heroes and adventurous, interesting heroines. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the Sentinels of Savannah series.

Pirate’s Passion by Lisa Kessler is book Two in the Sentinels of Savannah series. This is the story of Dr. Charlotte 'Char' Sinclair and Samuel Keegan. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Charlotte is a nerdy workaholic who works for the Maritime Museum but on one rare night she lets her hair down which leads her to meet Keegan. Keegan is a immortal pirate that is now the front runner for the southern rock band 'Scallywags'. Keegan and his old crew the Sea Dogs once drank from the mythical Holy Grail that lead them to be immortal. But now they are looking for the lost Holy Grail to help them as it appears that it is wearing off. The group are start to get injured as a regular human not to mention other things. Keegan doesn't realize it at first but Charlotte might be the person they need to help locate it. Charlotte is dancing a dangerous game with a government agent comes forward looking for her help. I really enjoyed this first book and excited to read this one...now if I can just get the next one.... loved this one.

4.25 stars.

It’s back on board the Sea Dog for the second instalment in Lisa Kessler’s Sentinels of Savannah series, bringing us pirate-by-day rockstar-by-night, Keegan and historian, Charlotte who waste no time in showing us that the small issue of a 300 year age-gap is irrelevant when it comes to chemistry.

“Immortality is only a gift when you don’t have to watch others die.”

Considering romance is strictly off the cards for Keegan due to the fact that loving an immortal will only end in heartache, his willpower is obliterated by Charlotte and as the crew’s quest for the holy grail continues, along with certain revelations with regards to Char’s life, the protective streak they have for one another kicks in and they soon realise there’s no point fighting their growing feelings.

“I keep thinking none of this can be real, and then I remember my dinner date is an immortal pirate.”

With plenty of action thrown in amongst the the romance, Pirate’s Passion gives us the chance to get to know not only Keegan and Char, but the crew of the Sea Dog a little more and all whilst setting the wheels in motion for the next book. If paranormal romances float your boat, then you need to be hopping aboard the Sea Dog stat.

Oo those who love a rock star will be overjoyed to read all about Keegan but he's also a real life pirate . Or maybe that should be privateer but whatever one thing for sure is this book takes this series up a notch and sets sail for exciting times.
The crew of the Sea Dog once drank from the mythical Holy Grail and now nearly three hundred years later the effects seem to be wearing off and more worryingly the Grail is missing ! Keegan knows only too well that letting people get close only leads to heartache but the gorgeous yet exasperating Charlotte just might be getting under his skin.
Charlotte has known sorrow and now just buries her head in her fascinating work about the history of piracy. She hadn't ever expected to meet actual pirates but it seems her particular skills just might give insight into just who has taken the Grail. Too bad that those who Charlotte trusts have been keeping secrets from her !
I thought long and hard about this review and I've decided to rate this book as a five. Not only does it give readers a fabulous story with a believable romance but it brings action, danger and shocks along the way. This had a good plot with great characters who are starting to be increasingly fleshed out. Plus it's left in such a way that there's a lot of scope for further adventures and although there isn't a cliff hanger it's an ending that definitely leaves this reader wanting more.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
