The idea of this book is super cute. Online dating is so prevalent nowadays, that I wanted to see what a book would feature it like. Yet, this book doesn't feature online dating too much-- just in the beginning really... what I think it should have highlighted was her 20 minute dates since "20 minutes" is a common theme throughout the book.
I started off really liking this book. It is cute, we've got some characters with personality and different types of lives with problems, and takes place mostly in a coffee shop. The thing is, I don't believe in this couple at all. I need more than chemistry during sex to like a couple and that is all they had. No common interests and nothing really changes between them to show they will work better together. While I liked Marshall more of the two, I had big issues with both of them, which I can't really can't get into without potentially spoiling the book.
The characters and the romance just didn't have the depth I was hoping for nor did the resolution actually feel like one.
So, I feel like it was easy to read and it wasn't until the end when I realized what was happen that I wanted to stop reading the book. Some people might really like this since it is lighter and sex-heavy, it just ended up not being my kind of book.
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet laugh out loud romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
Just didn't do it for me. She was like a robot. No emotion, no feeling, nothing. I couldn't get over my dislike of her enough to be invested in the story, which I found to be bland.
This book was just kind of “meh” for me personally. While it was a really quick read (which is something I really enjoy), I just couldn’t really connect with Alexa. Nothing all that exciting or remarkable happened in my opinion.
I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t hate it.
I feel like I'm in a slump and not finding any great books at the moment... and this book was the same and made me continue my slump.
I could not relate to Alexa AT ALL!
Because of this, I could not get into the book. The blurb about this book really grabbed my attention whereas this book just isn't doing the same, I have given up on this one. Maybe it will work out better for you.
This is my first book by this author and does not appear to be part of a series.
I thought this was a pretty solid read. It had some amusing parts, and was not dramatic. Alexa is a divorcee who is more scarred and scared after her marriage break down than first expected. Our h has come to rely on planning, structure and research in pretty much every aspect of her life. Our H Marshall is on the flip side in not wanting to make lots of long term plans and is viewed as immature by the h. Alexa starts of on her own version of speed dating and the story roles from there. I really liked the story showed WHY they worked well together, how they complemented each other and brought out the best in each other. Overall, a good story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I was very excited to read this book as I love these type of read, but I found the tongue in cheek style of writing a little bit over the top and frankly, a little boring.
I am okay with books that look at online dating with a touch of humor, but it just did not work for me and kept me from truly investing in the story.
There was a lot of deviating from the main subject that was also distracting and not necessary.
This ended up not being for me.
A cute, funny rom-com that any woman who’s used online dating can relate to. I enjoyed the characters & read through this book quickly; I had to find out the ending!
I had started out thinking ,ok this book is alright but it ended up being really good!! I definitely enjoyed reading this book! This is Alexa and Marshall book, Alexa is a divorced mom of three boys and always needs a plan! Marshall is the coffee shop owner where Alexa hangs out. Marshall is much younger than Alexa , they both have the boys for each other but Alexa thinks he's to young and never had a plan!! She has a dating plan of 20 minutes with a guy she knows if it's gonna work so she hatched a plan of a sort of speed dating at the coffee shop! It doesn't work to sell because she bases everyone off Marshall and no one stands up to him! She ends up just having a sort of friends with benefits with Marshall but her boys and up liking him and she likes him to much too! It ends up being a really cute, funny light story! Definitely don't miss out on one! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
