A rather old fashioned read I felt which lacked much suspense. I started off quite liking it and certainly didn’t want to leave it unfinished but I wasn’t thrilled or surprised by any of it. If anything I suppose I found it a bit tedious. I seem to be in the minority though but that’s the nature of reading isn’t it?

Take a small group of guests in a small hotel in a remote part of Scotland, with terrible snowy weather, and what do you get? A brilliant murder mystery without a dead body at the end. Yes, another psychological thriller from Cally Taylor.

Her main character is Anna who is basically running away from a road traffic accident near London, and who felt guilty. about her own involvement. She was also having trouble sleeping, with suspicions of her having a stalker.

The story really unfolds when the hotel owner dies, and Anna has to manage the hotel with no experience and the probable fact that one of the seven guests is the stalker (possible killer). Plenty of chilling atmosphere created as differing events unfold (no spoilers). Suffice it to say that Anna's suspicions fell on most of the guests at certain times, and the book keeps you guessing as well. Lovely diverse guests. with plenty of twists; extremely well written.

My wife had read a couple of Ms Taylor's books before, and I have now become hooked.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Avon Books for the chance to read, review and get to know this author.

I just finished this book and my heart is pounding and I can't breathe!

Sleep is incredibly suspensful, dramatic and thrilling. The setting of Rum is great and the characters are diverse and rich.

This is a proper Whodunnit and I still can't believe the ending! Brilliant!

Wow what a good book this was to read. I was a bit puzzled at the first couple of pages but thereafter, the more you read the more you get hooked into it.

I really wants to love this book but it just wasn’t for me. I gave up at about half way through in the end, unfortunately.

This gripping, addictive thriller brought to mind a modern-day Agatha Christie. The tension builds as Anna frantically tries to work out who is stalking her with virtually everyone around her a potential suspect. Excellent characterisation complements a fast-paced novel

I received an ecopy of this book from Netgalley and once I started reading I could not put it down. This is a psychological thriller that had me looking over my shoulder as I got caught up in the plot. It's a very chilling tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat right up until the very end and would work very well on screen.

I have loved all of C.L. Taylor's books that I've read so far and this one is no exception to that pattern! Taylor's writing just gets better and better - and it was already fabulous to begin with. 'Sleep' is one of those books that just doesn't quite give you the answers...until the end. It's like a murdery mystery party - except it's all real life and Anna is living the nightmare...

All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…

To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.

Each of the guests have a secret but one of them is lying – about who they are and why they’re on the island. There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.

Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.

This book is completely and utterly absorbing. From the characters and the little hints at their pasts and secrets, to the scenery and the desolate starkness of the Island of Rum....Taylor paints it all in amazing clarity so that without a doubt you are living everything along with the main character as you read.

Thanks to the publishers for an advanced copy of this book - I couldn't have waited months to read this one it was just amazing!

An excellent thriller. I was on edge from the first page and it kept me guessing until the very end. I think I suspected just about every character except the killer, but once revealed it all made perfect sense and I wanted to go back through and read the clues I could remember seeing but not understanding at the time. The sense of peril and menace is palpable and the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in the hotel. I love it.

I have read all of CL Taylors books so was excited to get the change to read this ARC (thank you NetGalley and Avon Books). This one is a gripping mystery thriller with a sense of constant peril and plenty of twists. Anna is aiming for a fresh start in a remote location, but finds herself trapped with a number of strangers, potentially including the stalker she relocated to escape!

Sleep by C.L.Taylor
A Frightening 5 stars !

This was recommended to me by another blogger the lovely Rea @bookreviewbyrea.
I received a free ARC for a fair review on #NetGalley.

Anna has a good job and lives with her boyfriend Alex. One day on the whilst driving home from a work team building weekend with three of her colleagues, there is a terrible car accident that ends in tragedy and it changes Anna's life overnight.
After being discharged from hospital Anna starts to feel she is being watched and starts to receive notes with references to Sleep including quotations from Shakespeare.

Anna has to go to court as a witness to the accident and encounters the parents of her colleagues who are angry and blame Anna for the accident.
Anna's relationship with Alex breaks down and Anna decides to get away from everything and takes a job on the remote Island of Rum at a hotel to try to rebuild her life.
When she arrives at the island seven guests arrive to stay at the hotel and the messages regarding sleep start to reappear.
Things take a sinister turn and Anna knows that she is in danger, but who can she trust.
I loved this book, I read it really quickly and it is so well plotted and the Island of Rum had the feel of 'And then there were none' by Agatha Christie.

The characters all are complex and all have come to the island with issues which is what makes it impossible to guess who is writing the notes and who it is that knows Anna and the reason she is there.
It's exciting, sinister and gripping and suffocating. I could imagine I was there on the Island trapped with these people one of who wants to hurt Anna, which makes the book terrifying but unputdownable.
The climax is a shocker and it doesn't end there, this was a book that made me think about what may happen afterwards.
I am really looking forward to reading more books by this author if this one is anything to go by I will be in for a treat !

C L Taylor is one of my favourite authors ever.

This wasn’t her best book but it was very good. The first big twist came midway. I love a book that’s keeps you guessing!

I'd still recommend it, but not as much as all her other books

CL Taylor always weaves a solid thriller.
I enjoyed this as much as I have her previous and would recommend to any crime fans who came into the library.
This was a little bit more on the horror side than her previous books and I look forward to reading what she brings out next as they are definitely getting scarier!

CL Taylor never fails me mind! Another gripping and twisting tale that was an easy read and a page turner. It kept me wondering what was going on throughout and how it all tied together. I much preferred this to the Fear. Thank you to the author, Netgalley and Avon for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

C.L Taylor is back with another mind boggling suspense thriller titled Sleep. After a traumatic time in her life Anna is ridden with guilt from a tragic accident which she was involved in which is preventing her from sleeping and giving her night terrors. When messages begin to appear referencing her sleep troubles, she is convinced someone is stalking her and she is desperate to get away.
Anna takes a job in a hotel on a remote island in Scotland, her first seven guests have arrived and it isn’t long before she feels her past is catching up with her, but who can she trust?
This was certainly a storyline that was full of suspense, I continually found myself at different points in the book convinced that I had worked out a connection and was sure I knew who was out to get Anna and I did get to a point where I felt that C.L Taylor had made this a little easy and predictable only to then have another little revelation appear to lead me to a completely different character. Each time I thought I had worked it out I was then doubting myself and I found myself getting so frustrated and desperate for everything to be revealed!
C.L Taylor always manages to transport us to the most dark and secluded settings and the Island of Rum in this book added to the tense feel that could be felt through the pages, you could feel how claustrophobic Anna must have felt with everything closing in on her with no way of escape on this secluded Island.
There are a lot of characters in this book all who play a key part in the storyline, I was worried that I would lose track on who was who but I think the author was very clever in her writing here as my attention was focused on trying to remember each character which helped to distract me from closely following any clues to lead me to the right person. I did eliminate one of the guests from my suspicions early on in the book as I felt like it was too obvious for it to be that character.
The Accident has long been my favourite by C.L Taylor, I have loved all of her books following it but none ever quite took the top spot, however Sleep has claimed the top spot now thanks to its suspense, gripping storyline and dark atmospheric setting. You all need to read this pacey unpredictable read this year. I need a head massage now to relieve the tension!

You wont get any sleep when you read Sleep. You will want to turn the pages as quickly as you can.

Anna having survived a tragic accident moves to Scotland and becomes a receptionist in an isolated hotel.

THere is a guest list : on this list one of them is out to kill Anna .

The vacation of these guests quickly declines as a storm arrives and the trouble begins ( continues for Anna)

I am a fan of C.L. Taylor and once again this book doesn't disappoint.

Grab your copy and get ready to read into the night. Word to the wise if you have to walk dog, do that first because my dog was not happy when I kept saying just one more chapter.

Please take time to read the author's Acknowledgments at the end of the book.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for my advanced copy of Sleep. I will buy my one to share when it hits the bookstores.

Anna is driving home from a team building event with some colleagues when she is in an accident which has some tragic consequences. Although she is acquitted from blame, she still feels guilt, and is unable to put the accident behind her and move on with her life. She believes she has a stalker who blames her for the accident.
Unable to sleep and with her relationship failing, she decides to take a job in a hotel on a remote Scottish island to get away from it all and start fresh.
The hotel guests have no sooner checked in than they are all stranded by a huge storm and everything starts to go awry. The hotel owner dies, and each of the guests arouse suspicion as strange things begin to happen. Anna is convinced that her stalker has followed her to the island and tries to work out which of the hotel guests it could be.
Tense, gripping, and definitely held my attention, but not my favourite C.L. Taylor novel to date..
