Wow! What a suspenseful psychological thriller.I thought that this book was excellent.. a real page turner. I was hooked from the first page. The characters and the setting were interesting. This was full of exciting twists and turns that you didn’t expect. It could easily be made into a film, so much suspense that kept you on the edge of your seat. I have all CL Taylor books in my kindle stash but this is the first that I have read by her.. so I know what I’m going to be reading next.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this I was not at all disappointed

I can’t believe this is my first read by this author. I really need to go back and read some more as this was a great read.

Anna needs to escape from her past so she ends up on a Scottish island working in a hotel. Can she really escape from her past though?

Along with Anna there are seven guests. Each with a secret.

A murderer on the island wants Anna.

Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.

This is a nail biting story that had me on the edge of my seat. Lots of twists and turns had me wanting to read faster to see what was going to happen next.
I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Well this is another cracker of a book! Sleep manages to enthralling, keep you on your toes and puts you off ever getting into your bed again! In Sleep we follow Anna recovering from surviving a horrendous car accident, which left two dead and one paralysed. Following the accident she has received sinister messages promising she will sleep soon. Anna, struggling to cope with the aftermath of the accident, leaves her job and the city for something more peaceful. But she is followed by the sinister messages, which become more elaborate with every move. While we mainly follow Anna, peppered throughout the books is an occasional chapter told from the perspective of a secondary character; a lad from the accident, the father of a son. All adding to the suspense. And the setting, which should have been idyllic and beautiful made everything seem claustrophobic and limiting. There is only a few people who could be suspects.  As the hotel and its occupiers become cut off from the rest of the world, we turn our attention to each.  But each suspect seems less and less like as we turn our attention to them.Sleep had a great cast of characters, a plot that gripped me from the start and a couple of moments that changed everything. This may be one of my favourite books by C. L. Tayor as even now she takes me by surprise. This is a page turner that shows how much guilt can affect your life and the lengths you will go to. Not only to avoid that guilty that occurs when you can't protect the ones you loves. But also that guilt for surviving when others have not.If you want a gripping thriller, that will have you on the edge of your seat then look no further. Gripping, compelling and chilling Sleep is a book that will hook you from page one.

C.L. Taylor has done it again, Sleep is another cracking 5 star read! To be honest I know it would be, this author has never let me down she's always top of her game and has firmly cemented herself as one of my auto buy authors.

This is a highly addictive book I pretty much read it in a day i was that engrossed, it's a fantastic fast paced murder mystery/ thriller that has the perfect isolated setting combined with wonderful writing which makes this an absolute page turner.

I was completely gripped and felt the tension and paranoia of the main character Anna on every page, you really do get caught up in it and start questioning every characters behaviour or actions. By the last couple of chapters I was literally on the edge of my seat desperate for the killer to be revealed.

As the synopsis suggests be prepared to get no sleep this book will keep you up guessing all night, highly addictive, highly entertaining and i highly recommend this. Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie or Shari Lapena.

Oh she's only gone and done it again! CL Taylor continues to write excellent books which result in my exclaiming that each one is her best book yet. Well I repeat myself gladly because Sleep is simply outstanding and most definitely her best one yet; I fail to see how this can be bettered. With a first sentence that may very well be the hook of the century, this book grabs the reader from the start and doesn't let go until the final page is turned.

Events in Anna's past result in her leaving her job and relocating to a remote Scottish island to work in a small hotel. Unfortunately, her memories travel with her so she continues to be haunted by her past. If Anna thinks past events were bad, she hasn't seen anything yet. When seven guests arrive at the hotel for a walking tour, they all have something to hide but one of them hasn't come for the walking tour; they've come for Anna. Like a game of Cluedo, the reader must gather the clues and work out who the killer is but good luck with that as it could be absolutely any one of them.

I loved delving into the psyche of each character; seeing what made them tick and unearthing their deepest darkest secrets. One of the guests is ahead of the game though; only letting us see a little part of the real person underneath, but they are so cleverly masked that I was completely thrown off the scent by CL Taylor's amazing art of deception.

With all the perfect ingredients for a gripping murder mystery, CL Taylor has crafted a superb whodunnit. Sleep is a completely addictive modern day murder mystery which the great Agatha Christie would have been proud to have written. I couldn't read Sleep fast enough and it's so very well named as I didn't want to put it down to catch up on my own sleep until I had devoured every single word.

Breathtaking, enthralling and almost too brilliant for words, Sleep is well deserving of every one of the five stars I don't hesitate in awarding it. A very highly recommended read and if you haven't discovered CL Taylor yet, make sure you put Sleep on your wishlist; you won't regret it but be prepared to be up all night reading!

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

C.L. Taylor is one of those authors you can always depend upon to deliver a solid and twisty psychological thriller and Sleep is no different. Right from the opening line, C.L. Taylor pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go.

After a traumatic experience, Anna isn’t sleeping. To try and escape her past, she moves to the remote Scottish Island of Rum. But when seven guests arrive at the hotel, Anna’s idyllic idea of a peaceful and quiet life quickly turns into a nightmare. One of these guests is not who they say they are and their reasons for being on the island have nothing to do with a love of nature and long hikes.

Remote locations, this feeling of isolation and sheer claustrophobia, is one of my most favourite things in books. It always manages to bring this extra level of intensity and suspense, knowing there’s a murderer walking around but not knowing who they are. And there is no escape. Chilling! Cut off from the world, what is supposed to be a wonderful trip suddenly turns into a battle for survival. Would you dare to sleep? I don’t think I would.

With only seven suspects, you’d think it would be easy to figure out who the culprit is. I, on the other hand, once again showed that there is absolutely no way I’d ever make it as a detective by disregarding a few of the guests right from the start and then realising I probably made a mistake along the way. But even in that moment where I had my “aha!” burst, I still wasn’t able to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. And just when you think it’s all over, ….. let’s just say, my jaw may have hit the floor.

Sleep is full of of intriguing and mysterious characters who all seem to be hiding something. As the tension and suspense built up, I found it impossible to put this book down. Brilliantly paced with plenty of red herrings along the way, you should definitely make sure you have the time to read it one sitting as Sleep is extremely addictive. Another absolute belter from C.L. Taylor and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

A big thank you to Sabah Khan at Avon for issuing me with my review copy of the book which I have read and reviewed voluntarily. My review is not biased in any way.

Cally Taylor is so good and very consistent with her tales of terror! Sleep is an excellent example of this - the first chapter is fantastic and really sets you up for a sinister story set on a remote island cut off during a particularly vicious storm.

Set on the Isle of Rum, the gloom of an approaching storms sets the atmosphere perfectly in this brilliantly put together story. We follow Anna who after surviving a serious car accident that claimed the lives of some of her work colleagues, is struggling to move forward from the devastation. She feels guilty and struggles to sleep every night which just makes her feel worse day by day.

Following her decision to move to the small Scottish Island, she senses things aren't what they seem from the seven guests that have just arrived for a walking trip...... As Anna struggles to sleep, we do get the sense that she is almost starting to lose the plot. Although she is convinced someone is out to scare her, we do start to doubt her sanity.

Cally Taylor has written a masterpiece here and I devoured it in a day. I began to suspect all the guests in the same way as Anna! The action really ramps up when the hotel loses all communication and they effectively become stranded from the outside world.

A fantastic page turner from the author, I was gripped from the first page and hooked until the I turned the last satisfying page.

Another magnificent piece of work from Cally Taylor and I can't recommend enough!

Even the title of this novel sent sinister shivers down my spine. Trouble seems to follow Anna wherever she goes. Is it coincidental or not? She thinks she has a stalker, but her boyfriend Alex doesn’t believe her. Is it real or imagined? A car accident jolts you out of your chair immediately in this tense, edgy thriller. Eager to “get away from it all” Anna takes a job at a hotel in the Isle of Rum. Gosh, the weather is rough which adds to the drama as the storms rage. A motley group of seven people stay at the hotel. They all have secrets, and one is a murderer. I thought I’d guessed who it might be. Wrong. You are kept waiting. It amused me how lost and rootless the group were without their wi-fi. Then, there is a sudden death. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon.

The intriguing first line of this book “If you’re reading this then I am no longer alive” drew me in right away!
Anna has taken a job on a remote island to try and get away from the terrors that plague her after a terrible accident. The "Sleep" of the title stems from her desperation to sleep, to get away from the insomnia and night terrors that plague her.

This is almost an Agatha Christie style who-dunnit, with all the main players stuck on a remote Scottish island, a possible murderer or murderers among them! This and the well drawn characters each with their own secrets give the book a somewhat creepy atmosphere. The remote location and the inbound storm make the book even more creepy and atmospheric.

Well written, with lots of twists, turns and red herrings, this is a very entertaining read,

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for a review copy.

In the crowded field of domestic thrillers, C L Taylor stands head and shoulders above most of the competition. A phenomenal talent who pens twisted, shocking and compulsively readable thrillers that are absolutely impossible to put down, in her latest novel Sleep she has written her best book yet!

Anna Willis’ life had changed forever in one single second. Driving back from a team building exercise in the Brecon Beacons, Anna had taken her eyes off the road and her mistake had resulted in death, misery, destruction and anguish. Although Anna might physically have escaped the crash relatively unscathed, the accident quickly begins to takes its toll upon her mentally. She is unable to sleep and is constantly haunted by that horrible moment that had destroyed her entire life. All of Anna’s plans for the future have been smashed to smithereens by a cruel twist of fate. She needs to go somewhere where nobody knows who she is and where she can hopefully figure out a way of continuing with her life away from the painful memories of the crash that constantly assail her. When she spots a vacancy for a job in a hotel in the remote Scottish island of Rum, Anna thinks that this is the chance she had been searching for. However, Anna soon realises that the past will always find you no matter where you go – and that somebody is always watching…

Anna’s job at the Bay View Hotel might be far removed from her high flying digital marketing career, but in Rum Anna hopes to quiet the voices that haunt her and find the sanctuary that will enable her to make a new life for herself. However, Rum is not the safe haven which Anna had initially thought it to be as she discovers when seven guests come to the hotel for a hiking retreat and transform her refuge into a dangerous nightmare from which there is simply no escape.

Each of the guests has a secret and one of them is lying about their reason for being at the hotel and on the island. One of the hotel’s residents has come to Rum with a mission: to make Anna pay for the crash and they will not rest until they are sure that she has atoned for her mistake…with her life. With a killer on the loose and a storm raging above them, Anna’s life is in serious peril. Someone is stalking her every move and waiting for the opportune moment to strike. But which one of the seven guests is the killer? Will Anna manage to unmask the killer’s identity and save herself? Or is it already too late?

Anna might have been having trouble sleeping since the accident, but if the killer has their way, it looks like she might end up going to sleep and never wake up!

C L Taylor has outdone herself with Sleep! A book that will make you put your life on hold, Sleep will take over your life and keep you mesmerized and riveted to the page from the very first line until the final full stop. Dark, sinister and captivating, Sleep is a densely plotted thriller that will send chills down your spine and make your heart pound with its beguiling blend of nail-biting suspense, white-knuckle intrigue and hair-raising menace.

A writer who gets better and better with every book she writes, C L Taylor is at her chilling and terrifying best in her latest novel, Sleep.

I gave this psychological thriller a 4/5 star or 8/10.

My thanks to the Publisher via NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Anna starts a new job in a Hotel on the remote Scottish island called Rum. She is hoping that it will be a new start and that she might finally be able to escape the insomnia (and get some well deserved sleep) that she has been suffering from ever since things that happened one night.

As Anna is joined by seven guests in the Hotel, what she hoped would be an idyllic place to work, soon becomes a nightmare as events take a deadly turn for the worse. Someone among the guests is a murderer and someone is lying as to why they're on the island in the first place. As Anna becomes more and more suspicious, it's not long before she realises that she might be next.

This psychological thriller is full of twists and turns that will keep the reader engaged. It may even cause you to suffer from insomnia yourself as you keep reading in an attempt to find out what the heck is going on and more to the point who is the murderer and WHY?

I thoroughly enjoyed this well written story and will be reading more of Cally Taylor's work in due course.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this in exchange for an honest review.

I was quite excited to read this as I have read a few of CL Taylors books in the past and really enjoyed them but sadly I had to shelf this book at 50% as I really couldn't get into the story or connect with the characters.

This was a real whodunnit with some brilliant twists. Anna is a marketing exec, she takes her colleagues on a team building exercise with fatal consequences. In a bid to escape her demons, Anna takes a job in a remote Scottish hotel. A group of tourists arrive, along with a ferocious storm.
All is not as it seems, is there someone threatening Anna and can she trust any of the other guests? I couldn’t put this book down.

Sleep pitches us into the world of Anna Willis, who when the book opens is working as a marketing manager.
A life-changing event affects Anna on the way back from a team building weekend, and launches a series of events which put Anna’s life in danger. Anna moves to a small Scottish Island to work in a hotel, but it appears that one of the guests wants her dead…
Cally Taylor builds the suspense chapter by chapter, and keeps you guessing all the way through the book. There are some deft twists, some of which you may seem coming and some of which you probably won’t.
Each chapter is headed by different characters – Anna’s chapters are written in first person whilst the other characters chapters are written in third person. This sets us on Anna’s side, as we, and she, tries to discover who she can trust.
If I have one criticism, it is that the storm felt like it was going on forever because it is takes up pretty much all of the second half of the book. I know it formed the backdrop to the tension building scenes but I just wanted it to stop raining!
The book ends on a chilling note, in line with the parts of the book which delve deeply into a person’s personality. An excellent read.

After a traumatic car accident, Anna feels someone is stalking her. Escaping to a remote Scottish island, she finds her fears are following her. Atmospheric and a great twist.

The Escape was the very first book I read by C.L. Taylor and I found it OK. This one, however, is really, really good! I'm a big fan of audiobooks, especially thrillers and I decided to listen to this one instead of reading it and oh boy that was a good move! Sleep is the kind of book that draws in the reader's right from the start and then you just can't stop reading (or listening).

Sleep is the kind of thriller with lots of suspects, plenty of red herrings and a great pace! Is someone after Anna? If so who? Being trapped in a remote hotel in Scotland with a bunch of strangers is not that fun when someone seems to be after you. Who can Anna trust when they are all strangers? And, then the first body is found...

Sleep is an excellent thriller by C.L. Taylor and now I can't wait to read (listen) to rest of the author's books! And, I'm in luck she's has written plenty of books!

This psychological thriller was such a compulsive and exhilarating read . I loved the novel's premise, its aptly isolated stormy setting and the complicated and intriguing cast of characters. 'Sleep' is a fast-paced (the main action takes place over an intense few days) and brilliantly plotted novel, often spine chilling and always gripping. Taylor's deft twists and turns link into her character's psychological challenges and we, like Anna, learn to trust no-one. A horrific ending!
