I dnf’d this book as it was written poorly and I could not get into the plot or connect with the characters. I tried but by midway I gave up.
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
I got through this book really quickly. The story was good, but the ending was kind of blah for me. I would recommend to someone who wants a quick read.
Absolutely nothing better than a good suburban thriller. This genre continues to be one of my favorites at the moment. I love seeing how each other spins stories of bored housewives, secretive husbands and children that sometimes scare the crap out of me. This book was a good addition to my archive.
A lot of people want what someone else has. Be it a purse, car or even significant other. Honestly not one person isn't guilty of this at least one time in their life. That's exactly how Erica is.
She sees a life that has been out of reach when she starts watching Faye. A life that she desperately ones, but is unable to obtain. A life that will be disrupted when Faye's daughter goes missing and turns Erica's reality upside down.
A gripping and suspenseful story.
Omg omg omg .......... this book was amazing I could not put it down I read every word on the edge of my seat I loved the story line, i loved the way the story just kept us guessing all the way threw I loved all the twists and turns and would defiantly recommend this book it was so believable and kept the reader engaged I love it
Thank you so much for this ARC! I will not be providing feedback on this title. I did not read this to its entirety and cannot give a fair review.
I've struggled with other books by this author but I thought surely there must be one book by her that I'll like. Unfortunately, I did not like this book and will probably steer clear of others by her in the future.
So good so tense a thriller I could not put down.Dark chilling well written highly recommend.#avonbooksuk.#netgalley

Envy is about this woman called Erica who gets obsessed with Faye, a beautiful woman/model who crosses in front of her apartment everyday in her way to take her children to school. Erica will start stalking her and wanting to become Faye at all costs.
This book is narrated from four different perspectives and Faye is the only one who narrates what happens to her, the rest of them talk about Faye using "you" so for example they would say something like "You look so good today, who are you going to see?". I really liked that fact because it felt really eerie to read but sometimes it got confusing because you couldn't tell whose POV where we on (but that may be because I received an e-arc, hopefully that will be fixed in the finished copies).
I think I mentioned it in one of my reading updates but this book really got inside my head, it was scary how everyone was obsessed with Faye, everyone watching what she was doing, acting as if nothing was happening when in reality those people were so different from what they decided to show in front of other people. I even started thinking "What if I'm being watched and followed all the time without noticing like Faye?", it was a really bad thought to have late at night lol.
There was a little romance thrown inside this book which I didn't enjoy, especially how it ended. I also think is important to mention that this book makes references about suicide and rape as well as mental issues without getting too specific or graphic.
Moreover, after the 60% mark everything started to feel rushed and I didn't particularly like the ending in general. I don't want to spoiled it but I was hoping for something darker.
Fantastic book, couldn't put it down. Full of tension and didn't let up at all. A great range of characters and a fascinating plot. Another cracking read from Amanda Robson!
For me, this book which is told from a number of POV wasn't something I found easy to follow when jumping in and out of the book. A number of times I had to go back and re read things.
For the times when I could sit and just read, it was an easy to follow story and I found it much more enjoyable.
I found reading this book it was clear the author knew what she was doing, it shows an experienced writer.
I think the character you will either love or hate, I love it when we have such different charters.
If you make some time in your diary then do so before you read this and you enjoyment will be tenfold.
An interesting read that will keep you going.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy in return for an honest review
Again a very good read and one I can highly recommend to others.
I could not put this down.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
What what a thrilling read!!! It was gripping from beginning to end, and I couldn't wait to finish it. After having just read Guilt, I couldn't wait to start this one, and I wasn't disappointed. Recommended.
Tense, twisted and terrifying, Envy is a chilling, captivating and compulsive thriller from one of the finest writers of domestic noir writing today: Amanda Robson.
Erica and Faye are two women who couldn’t be more different. Erica is single, broke and overweight. She can barely afford to buy clothes from a charity shop and has only one friend, Mouse, with whom she spends most of her time. Having spent most of her early years in foster care, Erica’s life has not exactly been overflowing with love and affection. She has always felt like an outsider and like somebody who is forever standing on the outside looking in while everyone else has a great time and is leading the life she should be living. Watching her neighbour, Faye, every day, Erica cannot help but be envious and jealous of the woman who has all the things she is desperate for. Faye is slim, beautiful and is always perfectly turned out. Her clothes are designer, her hair and make-up are always flawless and she has no financial problems whatsoever. Her husband Philip is handsome, rich and charismatic and she has two adorable daughters. While Erica spends her life trying to keep a roof over her head, Faye works part-time as a model and spends her days either at the hairdresser or at the gym. Faye’s life seems absolutely idyllic, but what is really lurking beneath the surface? Is Faye as perfect as she seems? Or is she a woman who has her own demons to battle and conquer?
Erica becomes obsessed with Faye. She wants to be like her and would do absolutely anything to have a life just like hers. She memorizes her routine, beings to wait outside her house and starts to follow her every move. Faye cannot so much as blink without Erica knowing, however, this little obsession soon begins to get increasingly sinister as Erica realises that the person she has put on a pedestal is not the paragon she had initially thought her to be. However, Erica won’t stop watching and as Faye is dragged deeper into the mire, she is always there watching as deception and lies become second nature to the woman who seems to have it all.
When Faye’s daughter Tamsin goes missing after school, Erica is the chief suspect. The finger of suspicion is pointing squarely at her, but did Erica’s twisted obsession with Faye compel her to take such drastic and dangerous action against an innocent child? Did Erica simply go too far? Or is there another threat lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce and ruin Faye’s life forever?
Amanda Robson continues to cement her standing as the mistress of grip lit with her latest thriller, Envy! A phenomenal read that kept me absolutely glued to its pages, Envy is a brilliantly written and fabulously plotted tale of jealousy, ambition, desire and obsession that I simply could not bear to put down. Amanda Robson knows how to ramp up the tension, make your heart pound and have you chewing your nails to the elbow with her seductive, jaw-dropping and addictive thrillers and Envy is no exception.
A book that will take over your life and force you to cancel all social engagements, Amanda Robson’s Envy is an unmissable read that shocks, terrifies and keeps you on tenterhooks throughout!
This is an enjoyable story about some very unlikable, selfish people dealing with their obesessions and what happens when they all have to face the consequences of their actions. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
This was the disjointed book I have ever read. There were no decent characters to be found.
This line really bothered me...”You pause. You swallow. I watch your Adam’s apple move up and down your pretty throat.” Technically, we have them, but they are not prominent. If so, are they attractive?
Lastly, the fact that the book changed POV, often within the same paragraph, in the same first-person voice, made it impossible to read. This is because the chapters we named after the four principal characters, yet the POV kept changing, so we did not always know who was talking.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
This was a really easy to read book with a very enjoyable story line. Athough it sometimes became confusing, as we are told the story from several different perspectives, it became apparent that this was the writer's intention; to cause confusion and disorientate the reader to make the end that much more unexpected.
I look forward to reading more from this writer.
3☆ A good Thriller
Envy is exactly what this story is about.
It's about a women watching from the shadows wanting what another has.
I have mixed feelings about this book.
On one hand I enjoyed the stalking aspect and the abduction, but it was a little predictable.
Erica has been watching Faye for a long time. Faye is successful, pretty, has a loving hubby and adorable children, everything Erica doesn't have.
But Faye has done something that is sure to jeopardise her family and her perfect life.
After all secrets have a way of coming out.
So when Faye's Daughter Tasmin is abducted.... who could possibly of taken her and why?
Unfortunately I found this plot to be a lil disjointed at times.
The chapters are told by several points of view which I actually don't mind. However what I found was on occasions the points of view changed to different characters which meant it got a lil muddled.
I felt that because of the chopping and changing I didn't feel a connection to the characters. They was well written, a lil predictable but not likeable, but they wasn't really meant to be likeable, they all had there flaws and was pretty complex.
Overall a good thriller, based on Envy, jealousy, greed and revenge with a few twists.
I would recommend Envy to other readers as it does have potential to a suspenseful thriller.
Thank you to Avon Books for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I did not like much the format of the book: I say, he says, she says....Faye, mother of 2 toddlers, desperately wants a modeling career. Erica, her neighbor, full of envy, with many issues, is watching and following Faye.
Thank you Netgalley for this copy.
Faye is desperately trying to peruse a modelling career and with the knock backs regarding her age she is feeling down in the dumps. However there are some people watching and noticing her every move and wanting to be with her and just like her and Faye can not escape them, or can she?
I loved how the chapters were very short and flitted from character to character giving the story pace and a sense of urgency. It felt a little repetitive in language at times but this supported my understanding of the characters personalities and state of mind.
