Very good plot, keeps you interested. I liked the mannerism the book has been written in. Approachable language and style. Well defined characters. Strong 5 stars.
A thrilling and tense read with plenty of twists and turns along the way. This is my first time reading anything by the author it won’t be my last.
Neve and Kit are parents to 14 year old Poppy who vanishes on a family boat trip. The first part of the book focusses on Neve and Kit’s relationship whilst the second part focusses on Poppy going missing. I wasn’t a fan of any of the characters but I really didn’t like Kit - nothing specific just a general overall feeling.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
I would recommend this story to all thriller lovers. This book took me by surprise. It kept me interested throughout the story and I needed to see what was going to happen. I truly enjoyed the pacing of the story and the well-written characters.
Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!
I really didn't enjoy this. I just found it so tedious and so much more drawn out than it should have been. Nothing too shocking.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in return for an honest review. This review is based entirely on my own thoughts and feelings.

This shouldn't be called schoolgirl Missing, no spoilers, but it shouldn't. However this is a good thriller with loads of twists and turns. I never try and guess the twists or the 'who dunnit' whilst reading, so I was never going to figure it out, but in hindsight it was a bit obvious. None the less I liked the characters and the pace was great, I was never bored!
I've read a few books by Ms Fortin before, and once again I wasn't disappointed with this brilliant offering. I enjoyed the book from beginning to end and can't wait for the next one! Recommended.
I really loved this book in a new to me author. The characters and location really and to the story. I can't wait to read the next one. This book keeps you guessing until the end.
I felt as though I was wanting more from this book and it just didn't deliver at all. Quite disappointed.
I am a huge fan of Sue Fortins books but unfortunately this is my least favourite of them all, usually really good storylines but this one leftb me wanting more :(
'Schoolgirl Missing' is the first book I have read by Sue Fortin, and it won't be the last.
Neve and Kit are a happily married couple...bar one issue that threatens to tear them apart. Although she has legally adopted Poppy, Kit's daughter by his first wife, Neve is desperate to have a child of her own; having lost Poppy's mum in childbirth however, Kit is adamant that he doesn't want another despite heavy pressure from Neve. Adding to the picture is Jake, Neve's attractive art teacher and a temptation to Neve, particularly as he makes it clear he is willing to give her the child she so desperately wants, and Lee Farnham, a shady character from Neve's past.
When Poppy goes missing one night during a family boat trip, there is no shortage of suspects for a kidnapping; but is it possible that the culprit could be closer to home than originally thought!
This was a good read, a developed plot, and although the characters weren't particularly likeable, they were relatable!
I give this book 4 stars.
Just finished this book and I am so disappointed! It started out like a love\ missing child with a bit of weirdness in the main character but as the mystery grows it gets stranger and stranger, totally leaving the reader out in left field.
I've come to really look forward to Sue Fortin's books and I wasn't disappointed by this one. I was gripped from the start and couldn't wait to find out Neve's secrets. Good twist towards the end too.
Absolutely fantastic had me gripped!!! Loved it! Can't wait for more from.this author. Storyline was great, characters were easy to.connect with
Thank you for the advanced copy
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of Schoolgirl Missing.
Hmm where to begin with this one.. I’ve read other Sue Fortin books before and thoroughly enjoyed them so I was really looking forward to reading this one. Unfortunately for me it fell a little flat. For starters, the description of this book is completely deceiving. While Poppy does get kidnapped it took until about 45% of the way through the book to happen and it didn’t seem like that big of an event to warrant the description, and even the title, being about a schoolgirl gone missing. This certainly did play a part in the entire story as a whole but the book just wasn’t what I had expected at all. Some things were a little predictable and others were just incredibly unrealistic. Maybe because I’m not a parent (yet) I can’t understand exactly what someone goes through in a situation like this but I’m pretty positive I wouldn’t be willing to accept a quick “I’m sorry” and continue a relationship (friendship, marriage or anything else) with someone who kidnapped my child... but that’s just me! 🤷🏻♀️
Another fab read by a fab author! Love this authors work and writing style and this book didnt disappoint.
So the book is about a girl with special needs going missing on a boat, when Neve married Kit she took on his daughter Poppy who’s mother died during a complicated childbirth resulting also in Poppy having special needs.
Poppy goes missing from their boat on a holiday and the parents are prime suspects, the book is a big tangle of lies and secrets and a few twists and turns too, Neve has been hiding her past from Kit and an old face appears throwing her life she’s crafted into jeopardy, what is she hiding?
Read it and find out, it’s a great little book and one I ploughed through in no time.
HarperCollins and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Schoolgirl Missing. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.
Neve has become a mother to her 14 year old stepdaughter Poppy, but she yearns to have a baby of her own. Despite the fact that her husband Kit has been adamant about bringing another child into the world, will Neve take steps to ensure the future that she wants?
I had a hard time writing this review, as I felt no connection to the characters or their story. Neve's convoluted past does not mesh with the woman that the author serves up at the beginning of the book, making the plot twist seem there mainly to move the story along. The marriage between Kit and Neve is strained from the start. The author does not offer up a family that readers can either relate to or have strong positive feelings for, which results in a book that just meanders along. The story of a missing child usually brings about feelings of anxiety and dread, but the lack of an emotional connection to any of the characters gave me none of those aforementioned feelings. For these reasons, I would not recommend Schoolgirl Missing to other readers.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book by Sue Fortin - my first by the author. I will definitely be reading more too. I found it to be interesting, with characters that you will love to hate. I love when you get characters that evoke a reaction whether its of adoration or disdain..
I thought I would be able to predict what would happen but I found myself pleasantly surprised as I was not always right at all , the twists and turns of the book kept me intrigued throughout.
It's a gripping, suspense filled read that I recommend for fans of the genre.
