Quite enjoyed this RomCom. It wasn't as laugh-out-loud as promised on the cover as there were a lot of instances when I just wanted to slap the MC with the book. She was so stubborn and obnoxious sometimes. My personal favourite character was the MC's sister Lydia.
Just fabulous. For once, the link to other authors isn’t a lie - there is something very Mhairi MacFarlane about the writing here.
Moments of humour and a storyline I couldn’t put down. The characters are all very believable. I will be definitely keeping an eye out for more from this author.
Sweet and fun but a bit difficult to get into in the beginning but as the story progressed it grew on me. Had a wonderful and enjoyable time while reading this.
Special thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for this review copy.
Jen is a list-maker that hasn't got time for romance films, holiday flings, and people who tell her to relax. So when she ends up engaged (she never did technically say yes) and on a make-shift hen-do in Copenhagen, the last thing she expects after every beer brewster's dream come true trip to a beer museum, is to end up over the side of a boat and onto the boat of a smokin' hot Dane...and to have probably the best kiss in the world from said Dane...whilst engaged, you will remember.
So begins the story of Jen reconciling her position in her sister Lydia's life and reconciling what she's actually feeling verses what her lists are telling her to do.
This was so sweet. While Jen can be annoyingly thick have a martyr complex without even realising it, she's real. There are women exactly like her, so she's very believable. She's supported by a wonderful squad who have got her back and can also give it to her straight. Everyone needs a squad like that. There was some quality character development in Jen. The romance was absolutely present but took a side seat to Jen discovering her purpose, discovering the proper place in her relationship with her sister, and learning that trusting your heart and relinquishing control and the ability to plan is okay for real life just as much as it's okay in the films. Not having the romance front and centre made it all the more sweet when we got to have Jakob back on the pages.
Probably the Best Kiss in the World is probably the sweetest romance and self-discovery story I've read in a long time. Thank you NetGalley, Pernille Hughes, and Harper Impulse publishers for the opportunity to read and review.
What the heck is a brewster? Read Probably The Best Kiss In The World for an answer. It's a story about the struggle to not be a control freak. Let it go! Let it go! Jen, the heroine, does the letting go of a job, a guy. Jen is a puzzling character. One on hand, I'm sympathetic about her situation and what she's trying to do. But, on the other hand--actually, if I'm being honest, I want to use this hand to slap her. Jen has annoying tendencies to say the least. The brewing and beer part of the story of Jen's life is really interesting and totally unique. Denmark is a spectacular setting, and I loved everything about it. As romcoms go, this one is in the middle. It's a cute fun story with unique aspects. But, it's not my favorite either, although I did enjoy it. I'm just saying I have read some I liked better, and I think it's simply a matter of personal preference. Overall, I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys romcoms. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
If you love romcoms, a strong sisterly bond and beer, then this is the PEEFECT book for you! I absolutely loved this story!
I couldn't make it to the end of this one. I tried to at least make it to the event of the title, but I didn't make it that far. The main character was grating and the pace was plodding.
Such a good story! Definitely one to read on the beach, by the pool or anywhere. Such a sweet story of growing up and finding yourself.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy in return for an honest review
A very good read and one I can highly recommend to others.
I could not put this down.
Thoroughly enjoyable with an amazing cast of characters that you cannot help but engage with.
This is a super cute book about Jen letting go – letting go of her odd-ball-really-not-that-into-you fiancé, letting go of her weird but salary-paying job to do what she really loves, and letting go of the enormous responsibility she feels towards her sister. During this process, she finds love and a shared passion in a most unexpected place: a canal in Copenhagen.
The only thing that nagged me throughout the book was that Jen came across as having fights to pick with everybody. Rightly so, maybe, as she had been put through the wringer of life, but I sometimes wished she would back off. I loved the settings and the beer-making and how Jen slowly but surely became true to herself. The romance is thinly scattered through the book – the hero, I think, presents himself only three or four times – but it works out very happy in the end.
A fun read to enjoy with a pint or two, obviously. Thank you Netgalley and HarperImpulse for this great read. Loved the cover!!!
I enjoyed this book very much. I really liked the characters and the story line. It was obvious the author did a great deal of research regarding making craft beers, but maybe all of that did not need to be included. It kind of slowed the story down at times, but overall, this was a good read.
Despite finding Jen incredibly annoying at times, I loved this book. Jen is a super practical control freak but after meeting a charismatic Dane while on her hen-do in Copenhagen, she begins to see there is more to life than her lists and making the sensible choice.
Funny, quirky and uplifting, Probably the Best Kiss in the World is a perfect Summer read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free e-copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
A lovely, quirky book, with great characters and plenty going on to keep those pages turning. I enjoyed this very much.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved everything about this story. Th slow build of the story is perfect. I’m so glad Jen stuck to her guns, especially when it came to her sister and her passion. It’s a great feel good story.
I'm a huge fan of rom-coms and this didn't disappoint! It had surprises, laugh out loud moments and I just couldn't put it down.
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I really enjoyed it, the characters were really well drawn and it had a great story line. I would definitely recommend this book.
There are a lot of really wonderful reviews for this book, both on this site and on Goodreads, but unfortunately this book was a miss for me. There were elements of this story that I thought had the potential to be really cute. For example, Jen's passion for beer and craft brewing was really unique and I thought was a cool passion for a main character to have. Other than her passion for beer, she fell flat for me as a protagonist--I found her to be pretty unlikeable.
I tried very hard to get into the story, but it just moved too slowly for me and there wasn't enough to keep me engaged and willing to push through. This was a DNF for me.
Ok this book was a little hard to read.... It drags a bit and really, Jen got on my nerves. So stubborn and cautious. Huh. I liked it when they went to abroad for their hen party...and Jen met Yakob. Silly girl. How can Robert compare? I lost patience with Jen a lot of times, wanting to smack her silly so I had to pause in my reading. I loved it best when Yakob was around. And when Jen was brewing and was doing beer. And least when it was everything else.
This was cute but dragged...and Jen was too uptight. I don't think I'll be rereading this book though.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy of this book.
I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I don't think there was enough about Copenhagen to warrant such a high inclusion on the blurb.
Jen is overbearing and rather annoying, I didn't warm to her at all. Lydia was slightly more enjoyable for me. There were a lot of characters in here, often so many you forget who's who.
It felt rather long, with superfluous words added in where maybe they didn't need to be. It could have been cut about 20% by leaving them out, and would likely be more engaging.
But the brewing storyline was really entertaining. I've never seen that before in a book.
I am not sure I have laughed this much reading a book in a long time. Jen was such a great character. And I enjoyed all her mishaps and adventures. It is definitely a book I will recommend to my reader friends.
