The story is about three women, mother, daughter, and grandmother who are going through different stages of their life. It’s a story of love and longing, not only of people, but also the land, while dealing with their lives. I highly recommend.

I received a complimentary book from Thomas Nelson through netgalley and my opinions are only mine.

Enjoyed the book. Absolutely loved Hurricane Season and couldn’t wait to read this book. Loved all the descriptions of the flowers. Who wouldn’t buy a flower for a free piece of Gus’s cobbler? I would love to have Gus in my kitchen cooking dinner every night. The book is all about mother and daughter relationships. It centers around Gus, Jessie and Evan. All three are dealing with their own problems and also navigating love. Jessie is a single mom, who owns her own nursery. She’s finally giving dating a chance and needs to decide about falling in love with someone new in her life or someone from her past. I’m not sure how Jessie is able to make any money since her mom is constantly giving plants away to her friends for free. Jessie made designing wedding flowers seem so easy. Evan is just starting high school and a new boy in town has caught her eye. Gus has been widowed for years. She’s been hiding a secret from her family and doesn’t want to acknowledge what is really happening to her. After all these years she might be ready to love again.

I enjoyed the story, characters and writing style. I loved getting to know Jessie and her family. All around it was a feel good story about family, relationships and love. Definitely recommend the book and look forward to reading more books by the author. The cover of the book was beautiful and was perfect for the story.

Thanks to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson--FICTION and the author, Lauren K. Denton, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

Excellent book! The author weaves together the stories of 3 generations of women in 3 different time periods of their lives. As they each deal with life @ their stage, they grow together, love together, and develop relationships to last a lifetime. Well written. Great read! Plenty of romance woven in-between for each generation. Realistic, sweet, timely. Read this book!

This 3rd novel by Lauren Denton meets the high bar set by her first two books. She writes a layered story with character depth and keeps one guessing about the outcome. It was difficult to put down! Gardening and the lessons one can learn from it season this novel with a lovely backdrop throughout.

Jesse, her daughter Evan, and her mother Gus, are the novel's central characters. Each one of these women is dealing with the brokenness and grief because of lost opportunities, relationships or failing health.

Jesse is still recovering from the loss of her one true self from a relationship that wasn't authentic from its onset and the heartbreak of her husband's infidelity. Her garden store isn't bringing in enough income, and she worries about not having enough time in her day to devote to Evan or her mother.

Evan has missed out on having men in her life with an absent father and the death of her Grandfather. Gus isn't as robustly healthy as she once was and her cognitive function is lacking.

Two men enter Jesse's life unexpectedly. Ben was her best friend growing up, someone to whom she revealed her authentic self, and the guy she let get away when she went off to find her way in the world. Sumner is a handsome businessman who comes into her shop to ask if Jesse can do the flowers for his daughter's upcoming wedding. Jesse is attracted to both men, and Denton does a great job keeping the reader guessing as to precisely which man gets chosen in the end.

Laura Denton has become a favorite to read! Her writing and the stories stick with me long after I’ve finished reading them. Glory Road is about three generations of women facing age related life circumstances. The characters and the setting for the book are just right. This book is one that reminds me there is always hope and circumstances can change. Be true to thyself. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC

I have to admit that I had never read any of Lauren K. Denton’s books before I read this one. That is a mistake that I will correct as of now. I love Southern fiction, and I loved this book. Gus, Evan, and Jessie are three generations of southern women who love each other deeply; support each other during the hard times; and embrace their lives on Glory Road. They are the true definition of family. This story takes us through a season of chance in their lives. Gus, at the age of 69, is deciding if she can give up her widowhood and marry an old friend who is now a romantic interest. Jessie, at age 38, is wondering if she wants to make a change in her settled life, ten years after her divorce. Evan, at age 14, is .making the huge step into high school. These three generations of family—-grandmother, mom, and daughter—will capture .your heart and draw you into their story.

The setting is southern small-town perfect. I came away wishing that I lived on Glory Road. Every setting and character in this book rings true to its Southern roots. Lauren Denton understands southern life, and this comes through in writing. I completely enjoyed this story. It’s clean, sweet Southern fiction at its best.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Glory Road
By Lauren K. Denton
This story follows three generations of southern women as they navigate through life together. They discover who they are meant to be and who they are meant to be with. Every chapter of this book follows a different character’s perspective on the current events of their life. Although each of the women are experiencing different milestones, together Gus, Jessie, and Evan manage to support and encourage each other.
This was a slow going beginning for me but its beginnings helped the characters take root to be more genuine and authentic. I enjoyed reading as each character developed and grew. I particularly agreed with their idea of love in their romantic lives.
“I think you marry the one who, when everything else is stripped away—money, job, arguments, disagreements- he’s still the one you’d want to sit with on the porch and… just… do nothing. Or do anything.”
“Pick the one that matters more than all the stuff of life.”

This year, I read all of Lauren K. Denton's books to-date. And, I have to say, I'm hooked! Her books have gotten better and better and I cannot wait to see what comes next from her.

Each of the books, including Glory Road, have vivd characters that you want to befriend and get to know. Her books leave me connected to the characters and wanting to know more about how their stories will continue. To date, she hasn't written a sequel or series, but I hope some of these characters will continue or cross paths in future books because I want to know how their stories continue and grow.

As in life, some of the storylines were predictable and played out just as expected. But, also similar to life, I was at times surprised by a character's decision or how life got in the way of the plan. It made the book interesting to the very end.

I love these down to earth, slice of life stories and hope the author will keep them coming!

This is a story about three generations living on Glory Road. I enjoyed getting to know each character while the author had them each come alive in the story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the book for my honest review.

Glory Road was a pleasure to read. I became invested in the lives of Jessie who is the mother to 14 year old Evan and the daughter of Gus (Augusta) who at 69 is starting to have memory lapses. These women are bonded to one another with love and respect as only mothers and daughters can be.

Glory Road is the unpaved, rural road where Jessie grew up and now has Twig, her garden store, next door. Since her husband died, Gus lives alone just down the road but spends most of her days helping Jessie at the store and cooking meals for her girls.

The characters are written with love and come alive as they grow and adapt to the changes that life brings. To enhance the importance that growth plays in this story there is an excerpt from old gardening books that reflects an aspect of each chapter. Wise words for life as well as gardening.

GLORY ROAD by LAUREN K. DENTON is a charming romance novel and the characters are delightful.
Three generations of women - grandmother, mother and teenage daughter - each tell their story, as they live and work together in Glory Road.
Although this is not a Christian novel it is a good clean read.

Lauren K. Denton is a southern writer who writes about the people and culture of the lower southern American states. I was first introduced to her writing when I read The Hideaway. I enjoyed the time-slip novel and the characters. Her second novel, Hurricane Season, didn't wow me like the first one. But then I heard she was writing another novel entitled Glory Road. I prayed it was as well-written as The Hideaway was. Fortunately for Denton, I really enjoyed Glory Road.
Her writing is clear and concise. She does a wonderful job at creating the southern way of life and bringing it to life for this Yankee. I have visited the south once to visit my aunt, but I have really never traveled down there. I have spent most of my life traveling across the northern part of the country. But Denton allows me to experience and slower and more polite way of life in her novels through her characters.
I really liked this coming of age story with Evan and flashbacks told in third person from Jessie. I really liked how she dived into the realistic dilemmas of a teenager and a mother who are trying to survive after moving home ten years ago. As for Gus, the grandmother or mother, who is dealing with the early signs of forgetfulness, she gripped my heart with her boastful mouth, but then I felt bad when she couldn't remember simple things. I liked seeing Evan, the teenage girl, struggle with life and early romance.
The story doesn't just feature the mother's romance. It features all three heroines. I enjoyed seeing them ride the rollercoaster of emotions as they chased the different feelings weaving through their lives. The romance didn't overshadow the main storyline. It strengthens the women and made each of them stronger heroines.
Overall, Glory Road by Lauren K. Denton was a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. I loved seeing three generations of strong women and watching them interact with each other with love and respect. It was a relief with all the hatred floating around through the generations today. It was a nice change. I enjoyed the novel, and I believe fans of Catherine West and Beth K. Vogt might enjoy this literary women's fiction novel too.
I received a complimentary copy of Glory Road by Lauren K. Denton from Thomas Nelson Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
