This highly inspirational book is best considered as a handbook on living a mindful ,serene , less egocentric life. It is divided into different areas of focus, like friendship or the feeling or noise of a place. Even more touchy issues such as holding emotions, faith and Alzheimer are touched upon in a personal and enlightened way. Each chapter begins with insightful observation of the author and often ends with an essay and a poem. Each chapter has a suggested task for the readers to experience the theme for themselves. Several references to other likeminded web addresses enable to go even deeper. I liked the positive outlook on many issues esp. as we seem to get more negative with the state of the world nowadays. I would recommend this as a book for reference - to be consulted again and again- for taking life less seriously, for finding and keeping your true self and finding enjoyment, even wonder in today’s world.
Loved it! I can continue to read bits of it when I feel the need to be inspired. it's right up there with The Secret Diary Of Hendrik Groen, in books I want to inspire my old age (I'm a senior soon retiring from the city!) I think everyone over 55 should give this a read.
Unshaken Wonder shows how to embrace life. It gives you tools for creating acceptance and resilience in your daily life in order to find peace and to enjoy life again. I found myself in this wonderful book. It is beautifully written and a joy to read. I loved it. I highly recommend it.
