This book is useful if you want to have some ideas handy for trivia with your family, your small group or discipleship meetings. I remember when I was younger, youth leaders were very into providing different ways for us to get knowledge. I hope most groups go back to seed truth in other minds, not just pizza parties, and trying to be cool. It is also helpful to have topic related facts in one place. For example, we had a nutrition related meeting for women at church and you can find food-related miracles in the bible. In a marriage retreat also was helpful because you can see in a glimpse 12 important married couples of the Bible. If you are such a nerd you will enjoy all the facts inside this book.

I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately, it was not at all what I expected. I had expected an informative, but fun book that would be great for readers of all ages, but The Ultimate Bible Knowledge Challenge was very different. Sadly, I cannot give the book a favorable review because it was different than I expected.
Thank you for allowing me to review it.

This book contains factual information found in the Bible, list categories for a variety of topics and a section of quizzes.

Initially, I was disappointed by the first section. It merely contained lists of facts. However, as I continued to peruse the facts, I discovered that the facts are very useful in preparing a lesson or message.

Section 2 provides popular sayings such as “A Drop in a Bucket” or “The Salt of the Earth” and describes where in the Bible they come from. These are extremely interesting and contain prevalent sayings. What a great resource. I find myself asking friends and families if they know the facts.

The third section finds Bible trivia questions. These can be used personally to test your Bible knowledge, in a group as a game or for teaching purposes.

This really isn't what I thought it was going to be. "Bible Knowledge Challenge" made me think of questions to answer, to test my knowledge of the Bible. I love these little quizzes!

The book is divided into 4 parts, All but one are lists arranged by topic, which is fine and interesting in themselves - Increase Your Knowledge of the Bible, Things We Say From the Bible, and Essential Bible Verses.

The third section Bible Knowledge Challenge, is the section that does have "trivia" questions with answers, grouped by questions in general, then Old Testament, and New Testament. The questions really are pretty good.

If you like "lists". this is the book for you. If you want to test your Bible knowledge, not so much. It might be fun to refer to. You could even convert some of the lists into questions for a group to try to answer, like "where do you find 'twinkling of an eye' in the Bible?" or "What towns did Jesus visit?"

Thanks to the publisher for making this book available through NetGalley for my honest review.

I am not sure that the title initially best serves the contents of the book or its purpose.
If you focus on the sub headings like Trivia it is closer to what this collection brings.
Part 1 is selective biblical knowledge and is quite good as it highlights different aspects Old Testament figures to the teachings of Jesus. Helpful in part but did seem to jump about and give equal value to various themes.
Part 2 was a clever insight into sayings in modern language with roots in the bible. Interesting but not truly an aside for wordsmiths and etymologists. It has little value in raising biblical knowledge or building faith in biblical teaching.
Part 3 is a Biblical knowledge challenge and I found the questions a little repetitive and not always vital to learn the answers. Again there is not for me a balance of truth or vital knowledge in all questions. Some are almost trick questions and a deeper meaning is lost from failing to know historical facts as opposed to spiritual lessons.
Part 4 is probably the best section. However it is the quickest to scan read. If here the reader looks up every biblical reference some insight would follow and the blessings attained from bible study. However in the context of the book it points to a more superficial knowledge rather than the in depth consideration of each of these passages and in total what it teaches about Assurance.
My criticism of the book is that it is a superficial presentation of biblical facts and information rather than the purpose study of the bible should bring. For this reason I would be very careful as to who I would want to give the book to or the ideal reader in mind other than the quizzer who wants to boost their bible based knowledge.
The danger is you treat it like pop Knowledge. How sad it would be if you knew every hit from the Beatles to ABBA but had never heard any of the actual music played.

The Bible holds a lot of history, and the best news anyone could hear. While it is important to read and study the Bible, having other resources can be helpful. The Ultimate Bible Knowledge Challenge, by Stan Toler, is one such resource to use.

Arranged in four parts, the book covers a vast array of information, from dates about the formation of the Bible to Isaiah's Messianic prophecies to quick references to Jesus' post resurrection appearances. There are explanations to everyday sayings, quizzes, and a topical index of verses. The variety of items, and the amount of information make it a good book to keep handy.

The book is arranged well, and it is easy to find what you are looking for. The arrangement and contents mean it can be used in a variety of ways. Individuals can use it as a study aid or to find something about a particular topic. Parents could use it to help their kids with learning the Bible, and teachers could use it in their classes to help students with questions or see how well they are learning about the Bible. Whether you use it on your own or with others, this book can help with Bible study. It provides a different method, which keeps you from falling into a rut during your study.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I thought this book would be full of interesting quizes to try out with friends and family. However it is more a book of lists eg food mentioned in the Bible, people raised from the dead etc. Rather dry and frankly not much fun. Sorry, I didn't really see the point.

I've barely scratched the surface of THE ULTIMATE BIBLE KNOWLEDGE CHALLENGE, but I look for it to be an entertaining and enjoyable source of Bible trivia for a long time to come. Although the book is laid out a bit oddly, Stan Toler has done a nice job of presenting factual knowledge.
