This is a great read for every day. Each day begins with a verse or two from the Bible followed by a relevant thought about Jesus and concludes with a quote from a Christian author (sadly there is no index for these). The book ends with suggestions for other books on the subject.
I recommend this book.
I was given this book by netgalley and Harvest House for an impartial review.
Face to Face with Jesus by Randy Alcorn is a great book of 200 reflections that draw us to God’s Word and His Truths. He says in his book “Biblical Christianity is fundamentally not simply a religion about Christ, but a relationship with Christ.” I believe that this is what the author had in mind when we wrote this book. It’s a book to ignite our desire for knowing God and then living in the light of what we’ve just read. It’s the invitation to come to His Word and personally experience Him. This devotional incorporates Scripture, a thought from the author, and a quote from someone else. I really enjoyed this book.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

In this book, you will find short meditations/devotions on the many facettes of Jesus' character. All of these are solidly based on Scripture and allow you to know Jesus more deeply and discover new aspects about his personality. I loved this book! It is really great as a devotional, but you can also almost read it from cover to cover! The writing style was very accessible and engaging. I also liked how the author quoted other authors and pastors. I really can't find anything negative about this book. It fulfilled and surpassed my expectations. It was one of the best devotionals I have read so far.
If you want to study the person and character of Jesus, this book is the perfect companion for a Bible study on that topic. Wholeheartedly recommended!
I love Randy Alcorn’s devotionals. This one is focused on helping us see Jesus and letting that impact our lives. Each devotional starts out with a verse, followed by a short meditation, and then an inspiring quote. Several of the topics are classic Alcorn as they highlighted Heaven, the New Earth, and giving.
I appreciate the brevity and the depth of each devotion. Each passage is thought-provoking and helpful but easily read in a minute or two. I was reading this on my Kindle and it wasn’t clear where one started and one ended so I always had to be thinking of the order….verse first.
There were so many helpful ideas but here’s one that stood out to me. Alcorn talked about Jesus accomplishing the work that God gave him to do. He quotes Kevin DeYoung who said, “Jesus didn’t do it all. Jesus didn’t meet every need. He left people waiting in line to be healed…” (location 851). This is so freeing. Jesus did what God called him to do….not everything that He could have done. If this is how Jesus operated, how much more should we who have limited energy and resources focus on what God has called us to do. Jesus didn’t do it all and we don’t have to either. Sigh.
I would highly recommend this book. Thank you to Harvest House for providing me with an e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I am a big fan of Randy Alcorn's book Heaven so I was very excited for the opportunity to read and review this book. Face to Face with Jesus is not a book to rush through. It took me almost a month to finish because of the richness of the content. I spent a lot of time meditating on the scriptures and pondering the profound truths of the God-Man. I highlighted 88 quotes and passages that I want to spend more time delving into. One of my favorite quotes is by John Fawcett: "It is impossible to contemplate the character of Jesus, with serious and devout attention, and not be charmed with it. We see in Him all the human passions in the highest perfection." Highly recommended!

I am reviewing a copy of Face to Face With Jesus through Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley:
Jesus changes everything!
Do you remember the day and the time you met Jesus for the first time? You know him as your Savior. Do you know him as your Lord. Is he your role model? Your leader?
In order to really know Jesus and follow his example we need to study and contemplate his words as well as the credible aspects of his character.
In this book Randy Alcorn shares brief meditation, Scripture readings, and inspirational quotes that help reveal the rich identity of God’s son.
I give Face to Face Wit Jesus five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
This devotional is is like most where you get a scripture then the author givers your insight and a quote. I think that it was any different than the rest.. Its good and insightful.
Through the use of Scripture passages, brief thoughts for meditation and quotes from various persons, the reader is provided with insights that allow for more than an acquaintance with Jesus. For, as the author states, “The battle for human souls pivots on the issue of Christ’s identity...If we get it right about Jesus, we can afford to get some minor things wrong. But if we get it wrong about Jesus, it won’t matter in the end what else we get right.“
With this in mind, the reader is taken on a challenging journey that will introduce or reacquaint them with one who affects their very destiny so they can ‘get it right’.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the publisher and Net Galley. However, the thoughts expressed are my own.
"Face to face with Jesus " by Randy Alcorn is written to help the reader see Jesus for who He is. We often have a distorted view of who Jesus is. Dietrick Bonhoeffer is quoted in the book. His quote is powerful. saying we grow accustomed to the divine love and are not awakened by the idea of the divine love. I find this powerful. I think we are often forgetful of the sacrifice of what Jesus did on the cross . We forget the suffering and pain for us. The quotes in the book help me rethink how I see Jesus. I realize I need to relook at who He is to me instead of who He really is. We need to ask God for a new view of His suffering and love to we can reflect that view in our daily life. How do you view Jesus in your life? This book was given to me for review purposes only from the publisher through netgalley. I appreciate this opportunity to review this wonderful book. I will share my reviews on my blog, facebook, CBD, Goodreads, with pastors, friends and on Amazon.
A really good book of short devotionals, a handy short read each day with bible scripture and thoughts by a number of other writers.
Face to face with Jesus, is an appropriate book for short devotionals, which invites us to reflect on Jesus Christ and his teachings. In these times, we need to know our Lord, more and more, we take for granted many things about him and we pass his beauty far away.
Written with simplicity and warmth, it will be a good read for personal devotions. At the beginning of each reflection, the author has added phrases from other very good authors.
The author, Randy Alcorn, is well known for his love of Jesus and the books he writes that honor our Lord. It’s no surprise to me that he continually comes out with new material that has a message that I find inspiring and helps keep me focused on what’s most important in life.
This devotional-style book has 200 messages that can be read in a minute or two and will give you something to mull over. Each day has a scripture, Randy’s thoughts and an inspirational quote. I highly recommend this devotional, and anything else by Randy Alcorn.
A good devotional focusing on the person and character of Jesus. It is like many available both in book format and via Bible apps but in no less valid and helpful both using scripture and the writers thoughts. Helpful.
In the book Face to Face with Jesus, author Randy Alcorn, writes a reflective devotional about connecting with Jesus – seeing Him face to face. Each reading has a Scripture, insight by Randy and an inspirational quote.
This is a very good devotional and invites the reader to go deeper in connecting with Jesus. I would recommend this book. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
