I could not stop reading this book. It is a great story that deals with the personal life of doctors in the US and France. A team of trauma doctors from California go to France to share knowledge and ideas when a school shooting becomes an actual hands on training ground. The incident brings the group closer together and the French doctors decide to visit the US hospitals. I liked all the characters but I think Bill Browning tied the whole story together. He's divorced and his ex and daughters live in England. He visits there while he's in Europe. His story is so sad but so typical of dedicated medical staff. This is a fine new story from an old standby favorite author, Danielle Steel. Enjoy. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Any book written by Danielle Steel is a good read. Her characters are so well researched you can see them as they work and live. The doctors in this book are no exception. They are all dedicated to their jobs but still give of themselves to their families. The personal relationships they have, whether at work or home, come second to providing excellent trauma care. When their efforts are recognized with a cross training trip to Paris, each much work to make the most of their trip knowing their return to home would find them different people. They are called upon to provide assistance during their training that affects each differently. How they handle the impact is one of the hallmarks of a Danielle Steel book. Her books always leave you wanting more.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. It so reminded me of the author's old writing style. Four outstanding physicians spend six weeks in Paris with four outstanding physicians there to learn from them what transpires during a major catastrophe and what they do. In turn, the physicians from Paris come to California for six weeks to do the same. During this time, they not only learn so much from each other and experience a catastrophe together, they all become close and form strong bonds.

Danielle Steel has done it again she has wrote another winner.. Turning Point is about four American doctors from four different hospitals in San Francisco that go to Paris to trade ideas on terrorism. Of course there is romance and even a little action. I've read a lot of Danielle Steel's books and enjoyed them all but this one was a little different. I liked it better than some. I want to thank netgalley for letting me read this book for an honest opinion.

Turning Point by Danielle Steel has us heading to San Francisco, California. Bill Browning is head of the trauma unit at San Francisco General Hospital. Since his divorce, Bill has thrown himself into his work. His ex-wife, Athena lives in London along with their two daughters. Bill looks forward to his rare visits with his two girls. Stephanie Lawrence is married to freelance writer, Andy who stays at home and takes care of their two boys. Stephanie is a trauma doctor at UCSF where she works long hours in her goal to become head of trauma. Andy resents her long hours and their bickering has been escalating. Tom Wylie is the charming emergency room doctor at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland and is popular with the female staff. Tom spends his free time at the local hot spots and has no interest in a long term relationship or marriage. Wendy Jones works in the trauma/surgical critical care center at Stanford and has had a six year relationship with the married Jeffrey Hunter. Wendy looks forward to their Wednesday evenings, but holidays are a lonely time for her. On Christmas, a fire breaks out in a major hotel flooding all their hospitals with victims. In Paris, which is San Francisco’s sister city, terrorists bomb luxury stores and a movie theater causing a massive number of causalities. In the New Year, these four doctors are given the opportunity to journey to Paris to participate in a four week mass-casualty training program. Four physicians from Paris will then come to San Francisco so the two countries can learn from each other. The four San Franciscan doctors bond immediately and look forward to their time in Paris. When a tragedy strikes a Paris school, it causes the doctors to re-evaluate their lives and the choices they have made.

Turning Point is a realistic story that lets us see tragic events from the point of trauma doctors and emergency services. I thought Turning Point was well-written with a steady flow. I found Turning Point to be a compelling novel. I was drawn into the story wanting to see what choices the doctors would make. Going to Paris is a wonderful opportunity for each doctor, but two of them must make a sacrifice. Stephanie is leaving behind an angry husband and two distraught children. However, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it is an honor to be picked to participate. Wendy is giving up her Wednesday nights with her lover. She has made great sacrifices to be with him, but she is beginning to wonder if he feels the same way about her. I will admit that her whining did grate on me after a while. I could have done with less of Wendy waxing on about Jeffrey and their relationship. Tom is looking forward to the Paris nightlife while Bill will be able to see his girls every weekend. Tom is a charmer and his character provided levity to the book. Tragedy has a way of making people evaluate their lives as we see in Turning Point. It was interesting to learn more about the roll of trauma doctors and how emergency services operates in another country. I did find some of the medical information presented to be intricate and I would find myself skimming through that paragraph. Other medical knowledge imparted was straightforward and easy to understand. There is, of course, romance in the story but it is light. I liked the Parisian medical professionals and how their stories mixed with the doctors from San Francisco. It is amazing how chaos can bring about change. I am giving Turning Point 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). Those readers who are addicted to Grey’s Anatomy will enjoy reading Turning Point. I look forward to Ms. Steel’s next book which is Silent Night.

I did not like this book. Although the storyline had potential, the story was just told to us - not shown. It seemed like a detailed outline for a novel that someone did not write.

I have read most of Danielle Steel's books. I have to admit her early work is still some of my all time favorites. With that said, I did enjoy this book. It had some very predictable sub-stories, but overall it was a good book. With enough action, human emotions and actions. Danielle does write very good characters. I felt we got to know each character in depth as we read through the book. I like this better than an author giving us a character blurb at the beginning. I would recommend this book to friends.

I received an advance copy from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review.

This is a very predictable story concerning the relationships between the characters. School violence and terrorists are relatable in today's society. The idea of physicians in different countries trading ideas and training together is intriguing. Some of the characters are annoying and unlikable. As in most of Danielle Steel's books, everything works out in the end. In my opinion, this is just an okay book.

Turning Point was an absolutely incredible story! As someone who has always worked in hospitals, I often appreciate and enjoy reading medical dramas and medical thrillers. Danielle Steel weaves another masterful story here, knitting together the lives of Bill, Stephanie, Tom and Wendy, four emergency physicians from the same city, San Francisco, as they take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity to collaborate with French physicians in an exchange program. I found this a truly fascinating novel. At times, the storyline was all too hauntingly real, especially the portion about the school shooting in France. Ms. Steel treats this part of the story with the same compassionate writing style she always uses in describing tragedies. Her characters feel real, they are identifiable.
I highly recommend Turning Point!

So I’m going to start this review with I’ve been a fan of Danielle Steel’s for over 20 years. This was an interesting story but it felt very repetitive in the wording throughout. I know it’s an unedited copy, but that seems like the way the story is written. The characters were interesting & I enjoyed the settings of Paris & San Francisco. Overall an okay read.

This story pulled me in from the very first page.. Being that I'm in the medical field, I'm always intrigued on medical stories and this one did not disappoint me. Four Emergency/Trauma doctors from San Francisco travel to Paris to gain knowledge are faced with much violence. This story also delves into their personal lives and what a true commitment that they have with their careers.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, they were all very likeable other than Stephanie. She put her career first over her family, but I was happy with her decisions. Loved Bill, such a good dad to his daughters. Poor Wendy, always the other woman. Then you have Tom, the playboy. What a cast of characters!!

It has been a few years a few years since I have a book from Danielle Steel but this one stole my heart and I could not put it down. I highly recommend this story.

Turning Point is a wonderful story about four American doctors that go to France to share information with their French counterparts. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat with the shooting that creates a bond with the doctors as well as the lives and relationships of the main Characters .
As always Danielle Steel has found a way to drag you right in the middle of the story and takes you on a roller coaster of emotions.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher for my honest review.

Turning Point is about four American Trauma Surgeons who are chosen to go to Paris for four weeks to learn how they deal with mass casualties. Then they return with their four counterparts to train in San Francisco. Turning Point took on a subject that although a horrible reason to have to get training in this world at this time it is so necessary. The writing is excellent, the characters believable and well developed and the story was interesting. I must say I've been reading Danielle Steel books for years and I've loved them all. Turning Point is her latest book and it is another great one. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

First off, a huge thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, for the eARC of Turning Point in exchange for an honest review! I normally love Danielle Steel and was not let down by her current effort!

At first I thought that keeping track of eight characters would be confusing, but it really was not. Each character got equal time in the novel and although it hopped around a lot, the style kept the pace moving right along. The doctors are eight very different people that end up bonding and becoming friends over common interests and the terrible tragedy in Paris. Those relationships and blooming romances are the primary focus of the novel, although thankfully for my tastes the romance is a small portion and not overdone.

Dealing with work-life balance is difficult, I am a nurse and know how hard it can be. The characters face realistic and relate-able issues while juggling family, kids and career goals. The plot just kept moving along, using these struggles, relationships and tragic events as hooks that kept me engaged for the entire read. I found it to be a fairly quick book but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Overall I give this a solid 4/5 stars and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who likes Danielle Steel, women's fiction, anyone who can relate to the work vs. life struggle, and anyone looking for a good book in general.
