Colorful pictures and a good message. Celebrate all the things that make you, you.
This book is a lovely celebration of YOU! Well anyone really. It's a colourful celebration of being, of how wonderful you are and your essence. It sends a beautiful message to children about accepting oneself. It also recognises that we all have different feelings and this is ok.
I also like how it celebrates growth and how you grow as you learn and as change happens.
I like that Marianne tells children that they are perfect as they are and that it is ok to put doubt on the shelf and celebrate oneself.
If I am to be honest, I found the illustrations too busy. Each page was covered from head to toe and I found this a little overwhelming and distracting. However, the story is so wonderfully put together that it is still a book that I would recommend.
Hooray for You! is a fun celebration of individuality. Young kids appreciate the focus on them and what makes them unique.
This book celebrates individuality or “you-ness” It is a self-affirming book which talks about what makes you special. It will help teach self-esteem and that it is not just okay, but expected that you are unique and different. I have to say that there are a lot of books out there that do this, and this was not my favourite. The illustrations are large, done with big paint strokes and sponging in bright colors that show nice texture. The children throughout are racially diverse. The text was done in a rhyming pattern that gave a nice cadence or rhythm to the story, until it didn't and that caused me to stumble in my reading aloud. I did like that the author stressed that the way you look is only one teensy part, which I think is a very important message. Unfortunately, my grandson was really not impressed with this one. I do think it would make a good addition to a preschool or kindergarten classroom.
Hooray for You! is a wonderful message of uniqueness and acceptance. Illustrations are colorful and engaging. I appreciate the diversity in the illustrations. I plan to use this text with my classroom guidance lessons in the primary grades. It would be an awesome resource in my sessions about self-esteem. I will recommend to other educators and parents. Thanks Sourcebooks Jabberwocky and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.
Thank you Netgalley for the digital arc of this book.
What a sweet book with a beautiful message of self worth and loving who you are, no matter your differences. The art work was playful and attributed to the tone of each page well. This book would work so well with the focus on social emotional learning in the K-2 classroom.
The art style took a little while to draw me in, but I LOVE the message of this little book! Children need to be celebrated and to be given the tools to help them love themselves in this world where society is constantly telling them otherwise, and books like this do a great job in helping kids learn how wonderful and unique they are. This was such an inspirational and sweet little book and I think any child's home or library's collection would benefit from having it.
This is standard and typical fare about being yourself. It’s been done before, and will be done again. Over all it’s nice. It has a Jamie Lee Curtis feel, but sometimes the rhymes come out harsh. I believe this to be because of how the illustrator highlighted certain words and phrases. It’s beautiful, but that emphasis on a strong word may not be in the rhyming pattern therefor throwing it off. This story is quite nice, but not destined to become a classic.
This was hard to read on my Kindle and it seemed to be out of order. I liked the positive message, fun illustrations, and use of large font.
Cute, self affirming book. There are tons like it (said my audience that I read it to), which I would have to agree is true. We also agreed it never hurts to read a positive-you book.
This one had a rhyme thing going on for almost all of it, and so the moment that tempo or rhyme wasn’t happening threw me off a bit. I did enjoy most of the phrasing.
A couple small things— I found the bolded parts were always the right choices? I feel that frequently recently about quite a few picture books, though so maybe I’m just picky there... as a teacher it’s just like how and why would I explain to my students the choice of emphasis? It’s not great or helpful modeling when it seems haphazard , alas I digress.
This one had the basic representation, a child in a wheelchair when talking about how we all have the parts we need to work for us, and the black girl on the page when talking about perfect hair on your head (other kids too, and a balding man)..
Anyways, it’s what you expect from the cover and cute.
This is a delightful book about teaching children that they are unique and should love themselves for who they are. It encourages the reader to be happy with who they are and to discover more about what they are capable of. The artwork is pretty and the message is a positive one as there is nobody else quite like you. It should be in every kid's personal library and brought out whenever they're having a bad day.
This would be a great book for parents and teachers of young children. This book used lots of bright colors and had pages full of illustrations. Parents and children would be able to read or follow along. This picture book did awesome job of grabbing my attention with the poetic/rhythmic pace when reading aloud. This is just the type of book I like to read to preschoolers. It also sends a great message that everyone is special and everyone has a place on earth. Life was never the same before you and no matter who you are, you should have a life worth living.
Hooray For You was a perfect gift book for any young child or student going of to college or transitioning in any way. This book spoke to the power of being YOU no matter who that is. It is a book written for everyone to read.
This is yet another children's book that did not appear correctly on my Kindle. The pages were out of line and the illustrations didn't match the wording.
Since this is an incorrect copy I will not review it on public media. I'm disappointed, it sounded like a great little book :(

This book was so colorful in the artwork and the character drawings were so eye-catching and adorable drawn that the message was conveyed very clear. Every library and household should own this book and everyone no matter what age should be able to relate well to this book and be immediately drawn to the beautiful colors and the positive message behind this book.
We will definitely consider this title for our picture book collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
This rhyming book was lovely and gave a great message about feelings. I would read this for a preschool or kindergarten storytime.
