This book packs a lot of knowledge into one place. Whether you wish to hunt varmints or predators, author Patrick Meitin has information that will help you. This book is chockful of photos showing not only animals in their habitat, but hunters in the most advantageous spots (high above, camouflaged, etc.). Additionally, helpful maps indicate where each animal lives.

Later chapters deal with many of the details which can help hunters, such as cartridges (centerfire and rimfire) and handloads, rifles (including ARs and modern air rifles), handguns, scopes, and predator calling. Mr. Meitin also gives pointers for those who wish to venture into the pelt/fur market, particularly in the area of what ammo causes the least amount of damage to the pelt. As the author spent considerable time supplementing his teenage and after high school income with predator fur, he has much valuable information to share.

In what I consider more of a fun moment, the author shared his gear recommendations. This included everything you might imagine form rifles/scopes/triggers/ammo to bags/tools/muffs/glasses. Great suggestions on what you might need or wish to upgrade.

Bottom line: There is something here for everyone, beginners to veterans, from those who need practice with a target that moves to hunters looking for something to do between big game seasons. Five stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and Krause Publications for an advance electronic copy of this book.
