Thought provoking. Worth reading if unfamiliar with Maimonides teachings.
"He is one of the wisest men of all time. Since the time of the Bible, he is the only man to be celebrated by the three major Western religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
His name is Maimonides. A philosopher, rabbi, physician, religious thinker and logician, today this sage is considered among the greatest thinkers.
The Secret Life reveals his ancient teachings in modern terms."
3.5 stars.
The book focuses on the philosophy of Maimonides who lived during 1200s. The book has five sections, one each on charity, justice, love and higher purpose.
The section on charity was the most relevant and best written.
Overall the writing was clear but uninspired. There was nothing new and the way of presenting the same ideas wasn't unique or engaging. But the ideas were good and that's why the 3.5 stars.
I was impressed by Maimonides. He sure was centuries ahead of his time. I will definitely read more about him.
