I didn't finish the first book, so I didn't get into this one. I'm not reading poorly because it just wasn't for me
Book 3 or why you should cap sparklies the first or at least the second time they lead evil fascist societies to your doorstep to kidnap, torture or murder you & yours. Vic is now again in major trauma & trouble with MO crew, snatched up, seriously wounded & trying to escape. Her friends are in peril or worse & the screaming read squirrel [who I thought was Ratatoskr] should have been used & interrogated to the nth degree on how he could be beneficial imo. Another cliff hanger after trauma & will added drama so will have to get book 4 as soon as bills are taken care of. This is still a great series & worth a read!
This series was fantastic. Quick, witty, with an excellent plot and full characters, I enjoyed every page.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This ones a little weirder then the other two and I am not sure how I feel about that at all. I am not sure I wanted to come to a close like this. It is just I guess I wanted more and more, but that is okay. I got what I wanted out of the series and still like Vic and what she did.
"Victoria Marmot and the Shadow of Death" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Virginia McClain (http://virginiamcclain.blogspot.com). This is Ms. McClain's sixth publication. This is the third in her "Victoria Marmot" series.
I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence and quite a bit of Mature Language. The story is set in an alternate universe to our one. One with magic and creatures of fantasy. The primary character is 17-year-old Victoria Marmot.
This story picks up shortly after the second novella in the series ("Victoria Marmot and the Inconvenient Prophecy") ends. When the story resumes, Marmot is being held captive on a deserted 'Hell' world with the 'squirrel demon' and is fighting to survive.
Marmot must escape. Then she must rescue her comrades again. There isn't so much a plot for this novella as there is the overall plot for the series. This is mostly just a continuation.
I thought the 3+ hours I spent reading this 250-page young adult fantasy were interesting. I still think the characters are a little crazy. There are no details, but Marmot is still sexually attracted to the same pair she hooked up within the last novella. I do like the cover art. I give this novel a 3.8 (rounded up to a 4) out of 5.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
OMG RHELIA, ugh, she's annoying me so much now and I don't know what to do! I honestly had no idea that I would fly through book 2 and 3 of this series this week.. but I was really hoping that this book would put a smile on my face. Which is did once or twice.. but ugh, these characters!! Sometimes they make me laugh, smile, and idk what else... and then they frustrate the hell out of me!
However, Victoria being captured was a pretty good start to this book. Reading about her attempts of escaping was intriguing.. but I also feel like I couldn't keep track of what was happening in this book. Besides all of that, the little cliffhanger at the end was just okay. I'm still going to try and dive into the next book whenever it's available on Netgalley.. but it didn't suck me in - ya know?
Overall, it was an okay book that had a shit ton of things going on at the same time. Plus it was a smidge boring and I just kind of ended up being disappointed again. I REALLY hope that the next book will be better - whenever it's available.
3.5 stars
Fun, funny, fast-paced, action- packed.
I didn't think I'd like this last book, but it was a good last book.
Looking forward to reading more form this author!
I received a free copy of VICTORIA MARMOT AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH (Victoria Marmot Book 3) by Virginia McClain in exchange for an honest review. The most important information about this sequel is that, though not marketed as LGBTQIA, it is. There is no sex in this book, but there is affectionate/intimate touching and some discussion about how sexually desirable another character is and why. Also, the generous use of profanity continues.
At the beginning of the book, Vic and Seamus are imprisoned by MOMA. They are facing trial because all of their escape attempts have been unsuccessful. If they are able to survive trial, will they be safe from further pursuit by MOMA while they investigate MOMA’s endgame?
