Tatum is so close to realizing her dream of becoming a sous chef she can taste it, but working at her ex-fiancé’s restaurant with his new girlfriend was never in her career plan. To save face and prove she’s moved on, Tatum cooks up a lie that she’s in a relationship with her best friend’s superhot cousin. There’s just one problem: Jason only recently moved to town, and he has no idea they’re already “dating.”

Jason just moved back to town to be closer to family and in the process ends his only long term relationship. Jason has been told by his cousin, Tatums best friend, that Tatum is off limits. That doesn’t stop him from thinking about her all the time.

Will they get together? Will he find out about the lie? Cute book, great characters.

This is my first book by Leddy Harper and it definitely won’t be my last. This story had a fake relationship type of vibe, but it was different at the same time.
Tatum hasn’t had the best of luck so when she starts a little white lie things quickly spiral out of control, but will she be able to recover from all the lies? Jason moved back home to start over and be closer to his family, but he didn’t expect was his cousins best friend and roommate.
Tatum and Jason had a different relationship, but it worked for them. I loved their chemistry with each other and the instant attraction to one another. This story had me feeling all sorts of emotions. At times I found myself laughing, then I’d find myself wanting to yell at Tatum for the web of lies she would continue to create, I’d swoon over Jason and then I’d find myself wanting to yell at both of them for being so stupid.
I’d recommend this for anyone looking for pretty quick read and for a different take on a fake relationship romance.

This was a cute story. It didn’t immediately draw me in but I enjoyed the characters interactions and chemistry.

This was a really cute story , I loved Jason and Tatum . The book was really easy to read and get sucked into the storyline! The story was witty as well as funny. Watching Tatums web of little fibs unravel happens so quickly and before you know it the story is over. But it was nice to see a slow development in the relationship from friends to lovers . Another amazing ready by Leddy Harper. Read it and you won't regret it!

A totally addictive read, the banter and Tatum’s quirkiness kept me completely enthralled in this book! The characters were sometimes frustrating but that made the story more believable. I loved the way Jay embraced Tatum’s quirks and didn’t expect her to change. Overall, a lot of laughs, some cringeworthy moments and a very sweet romance that develops.

Breaking up is hard, yet a post breakup booty call is easy. Seeking physical companionship nightly over an unknown period of time in a small town known for its gossip.

Nothing says casual like a no-strings hook up with her best friends cousin.

I didn’t care for all the gossipmongers, in the kitchen, it was too reminiscent of high school. I realize this was a small town which lended to rumors, yet these accusations bogged down the story.

Some stories click together and some don’t. Unfortunately, this story didn’t have the necessary ingredients to create an amazing recipe. The minor characters were too caddy and nosy for my liking.

The opening scene gave me the impression that Michael and Tatum would battle through some difficulties. I wasn’t expecting the bait and switch of a new male interest. I wanted Michael and Tatum to work through their issues and explain the change in Michaels reasoning.

Overall: the story is super cute and sorta funny. Tatum’s character had some embarrassing moments that lended to some chuckling moments. It’s a light and fun story with tons of fun drama, nothing too deep or serious.

It read entirely like Leddy’s personality which I loved. Leddy has a sassy potty mouth which is evident by Tatum’s dialogue.

The (Half) Truth is an amazing read. I love Tatum. She sure knows how to get herself into some pickles though. You know it's all going to come crashing down but you can't stop yourself for every little misunderstanding that comes out with Tatum. Jason is ready for more and you can just feel the chemistry he shares with Tatum roll off the pages as you read. As all is reviled you feel for both Jason and Tatum. Jason isn't known for second chances. He has a bit of a past reputation that his cousin likes to use against him. Returning home you can tell he is a new man and you hope Tatum is the one. I love Tatum and Jason together. There are a lot of cute and sexy moments in this one. This one is an amazing one click read I couldn't put down.

Cute read! I really enjoyed this story. It wasn't all about sex and actually had a story.
Thanks Netgalley for the arc.

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it! The characters were well developed and I didn’t feel like the only thing they had in common was in the bedroom. Cute read.

This book is one I liked but did not love. I enjoyed the interactions between Tatum and Jason but I think there was just too much going on around them, most of it pretty immature, which took away from their story.

This was such a sweet romantic funny book. This book is about Tatum and Jason. Both Tatum and Jason have had there hearts broken recently. Both are not looking to find anyone else. Then fate steps in and they meet. They both cannot stop thinking about each other. Jason does anything he can to find a reason to spend time with Tatum. Tatum does everything she can to avoid spending time with Jason. This does not stop Tatum from telling a little lie to save face at work. One little lie turns into another and then another until she cannot tell what is a lie and what is not. I laughed so hard while reading this book. Leddy Harper did a great job with this one. It kept me reading and reading. I am hoping that maybe a few side characters in this book get their own stories. I would love to go back and see what happens in their lives. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

The (Half) Truth by Leddy Harper a five-star read you will believe. Wow this was my first read by this author, but it won’t be the last as it was funny and brilliant. Tatum Alexander was simply sublime, she was just the right side of klutzi and crazy and man does she know how to cook, she had my mouth watering many a time. But she is a little cray cray, but honestly who wouldn’t be in her situation. Having to see you ex is bad enough, having to work with him, that deserves a blooming medal. I must say though I loved Kelsey as a best friend, she always had Taters heart in her mind’s eye, that’s the most amazing thing a bestie can do, that being said Kelsey should know with a hot brother its never easy to keep your bestie in line, and what a hot brother Jason Tyler Watson is, he could melt the polar ice caps.

This book was so good! I really loved "Jay" and Tatum as a couple! I enjoyed how instead of forcing something they didn't want, they eased into it with friendship and amazing sex!!

Highly recommend!!

This book is hard for me to review. I didnt like nor did I hate it. It just felt like it was lacking something. What? I'm not sure of, maybe chemistry? More emotion? All of the above I guess. It had potential though.

I had a hard time getting into this one at first but once it picked up it completely sucked me in and I ended up loving this story so much. It had some great comedic moments and plenty of sexy times. The characters were well written and the HEA was perfect!

I loved this book. I did not want to put it down!! It is charmingly witty. The two main characters, Tatum and Jason, have incredible chemistry. You will be fighting for them to make it and want to tell an annoying cousin to just shut up. The big thing you will learn is, don’t tell a lie!

The Half Truth is about Tatum, who was recently dumped by her fiance, and Jason who is Tatum's best friend's cousin, who is fresh out of
a long-term relationship himself. Despite Tatum's friend's warnings to both to stay away from each other, the chemistry proves to be to strong for either to stay away.

This book was laugh out funny at times, but it also had more serious scenes as well. Tatum seemed to find herself in some pretty crazy situations, which seemed to be the theme of the story. I did think Tatum and Jason had good chemistry and I enjoyed the writing style of the book. There were some aspects of the book I think could have been more developed or better explained, but overall it was an enjoyable read. Leddy Harper is a go to author for me.

I love Leddy Harper, period, end of discussion. I thought this book was a little different that her norm, I still loved it. This is a character driven story that had me totally in love with Jason and wanting to bop Tatum right on the head a couple times. Tatum is quirky as all get out and Jason was just the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to men in a story. He wasn't too good to be true, he was real.
Which made me love him all the more. Tatum is a chef and her fiancé owns the restaurant and is obviously she boss. On her birthday, her family is coming and while waiting Michael breaks up with her. Leaving her to face her family, thankfully between her brother and Jason she is able to fend off her parents and any questions. Not wanting to lose her position as sous chef, she remains on at the restaurant, the ex hires a new pastry chef who he is now dating, right after he breaks their engagement and things are a little tough for Tatum but she manages. I don't have to say that Michael is a jerk and his nonsense comes in many shapes.
The relationship with Jason slowly evolves and they grow closer. Tatum has a horrible habit of providing details that are relevant to their friendship, as far as her work situation goes. Tatum really fizzles for a while and at one point I could have drop kicked her right out of the room. Could she be that clueless? Obviously she was.
Jason evened out the story for me, and made up for Tatum's lack. There are a lot of ups and downs and normal relationship bumps in the story and a couple not so normal but still the overall book was a good one. Medium angst (which I like) good character writing and a realistic plot and a great end to the story. Stellar writing and lots of feels.
Great story Leddy!

I received a copy of The (Half) Truth by Leddy Harper from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, this book missed the mark for me. The plot was messy and boring, the dialogue was flat, and the characters (primary and secondary) did not have chemistry. I think the lack of chemistry was due in large part to the immaturity and lack of positive qualities of the protagonist, Tatum, as well as the equally obnoxious secondary characters at her work (the restaurant).

I understood the plot device - how one lie can spiral into many lies when you aren't adult enough to fess up - but rather than illustrate how desperate and vulnerable Tatum felt to keep spinning lie after lie, it came across as selfish and childish. Not to mention manipulative and just obnoxious. This is one protagonist I actively rooted against and hoped that her love interest, Jason, would get fed up and walk away from her brand of crazy.

I'd give The (Half) Truth 2 stars.

This was my first book by Leddy Harper, and I really enjoyed her writing style, the story was different than others “fake relationship” plot and I really liked that in the book. Nothing happened as I expected. Jason was my favorite character, and his family too. They were all too funny. Tatum was a good character, but a lot of her lies could have been avoided, and some parts just irritated me. But the ending was cute. If you like the no-strings-attached relationship type, you might like this book. 4 ⭐️
