A mexican resort wedding leads to lots of mishaps and changes. The characters are intriguing. The plot will keep you guessing who will hook up and last. Will love, family and babies make an interesting story.
I was surprised by this story. Not what I expected, but I always enjoy the ride Bybee takes her readers on. Early in this series, I actually thought Shannon would end up reuniting with Paul. Turns out that was not to be.
Victor, however, is an acquired taste. In the beginning, I’m thinking how can this a-hole be our hero. Trust in Bybee though to turn him into a nice guy who figures out he needs to change his life. The romance has a lot of build up and all of the First Wives Club is on hand for this story which I loved!
So many funny and great moments in this book. Shannon and Victor’s struggles to find what truly will make them happy in life and balancing career and personal relationships is something I think we can all relate to.
A great ending to this series and I can only hope we see these characters in future books, I love that Samantha and Blake show up again - their book remains one of my favorites!
Many thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.
Shannon has always been one of my fav characters in this series. She seemed the quiet one of the bunch, always had a level head when the things going on with the 1st Wives took a turn for the worst. But boy oh boy did she surprise us. She has a plan to get a baby daddy, but when the deal is done, all she really wants is the baby. And Victor was the guy you wanted to dislike, but when his life plan goes up in smoke, he turned into a decent fellow with some lessons from Shannon. This story had so many twists that it kept me turning the page to see what was going to happen with Shannon and Victor. They had an attraction right from the start and can they make it last after a three month cooling period or will they be able to last that long?? You have to read this fantastic story to find out.
I knew when I started to read this book; I knew I was going to read it start to finish in one day. OMG can this series get any better…YES, YES, YES. And the sad part is this is the last book in the series…unless another First Wife comes into the mix…Please say it’s so Catherine Bybee!
Love Catherine Bybee and her novels. I have always been a huge fan of this series, especially of Shannon's character. I'm so glad to see that she finds true love after all. I can't wait to see what is next from Catherine Bybee!

ohh Shannon… you have always been my quiet lost favorite girl. A girl who fell in love with her husband and he tossed her away. I feel each time I read a first wives club book I say.. I LOVED THIS .. and this is also no exception. I have no idea why this author is such an amazing writer and has seemed to even write grocery lists I cant stop reading. Her writing style has intrigue, comedy, attraction and each book has its own story and there is not much repeated anywhere. I love how she always brings the full first wives club back and I really love seeing that. Shannon is still on the hunt for something in this book.. and she ended up finding what she wasn’t looking for. Scandal, paparrazi and a lot more surprises await you in this beautiful romance.
I must say.. that first kiss.. lit my kindle on fire.. it was the ULTIMATE kiss !
Love, love, love, love Catherine Bybee! This is the best yet! I have read everything she has written and this series is my favorite!!!!
I've read the Weekday Brides series, which brought me to the First Wives series. I was so excited to receive and ARC of this book from NetGalley so I could continue on with the series. I loved this book, although it made me sad that it was the final of the 4 wives. I'm still hoping for another story in the series. There was romance, suspense, mystery. When I read, it's for entertainment and this entertained me! Do not hesitate to pre-order this book! And read the rest of the the two series!
Fun and entertaining read! Loveable characters and a good plot. I need to read the rest of the series now.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to leave an honest review. I have read this entire First Wives series and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. It was great to finally read Shannon's story. I have always enjoyed Catherine Bybee's writing style and the engagement of all of the characters in the series that she uses.
This book follows Shannon, a former Governor's wife and current photographer, and Victor, a serious workaholic. Victor is actually the groom for a destination wedding that Shannon is hired to shoot. She meets him on the plane and has an instant dislike to him because he is rude and inconsiderate. Turns out his bride to be is quite young and very unsure about getting married; she ends up leaving him at the altar. Instead of going back to working, as would be his norm, Victor is convinced to stay and enjoy his honeymoon.
At the same time, Shannon is staying in Tulum to implement her own plan of trying to have a child. She has it all mapped out but with Victor staying at the same hotel, things don't go as planned. She ends up actually starting to like and understand him as they interact more and more. At the end of their time together, they both agree to wait 3 months before seeing each other again to make sure this isn't a rebound for Victor. Needless to say, they can't stay away from each other once back to the real world.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy with both of their pasts coming back to cause doubts. Shannon's ex wants her back to help him with his next election and Victor's ex-fiancé starts to cause trouble once she realizes Victor has moved on. Can the two learn to trust each other and overcome these obstacles?
This is a very well written book and I would recommend it and the whole series. It is fun to still engage with the characters from the previous books. This book does not have the same amount of suspense as the first three books in the series but it is a good wrap up.
Another great book by Catherine Bybee - thanks to netgalley for an ARC
It’s probably better if you read the books in order reading weekday brides before you read the first wives club series as you will understand the back story. I enjoy all her books and would recommend them to romance lovers
Sad to say that is the fourth and final book in the First Wives series. However, trust Catherine Bybee to end the series with some really big twists! This is one of those series that I hate to see end because I have absolutely loved all of the characters and fortunately, all of them make appearances in Shannon's story since they all have to give their stamp of approval on Victor..In this book then you not only get a great story, with an unexpected meeting for Shannon and Victor, but you also get caught up on everyone else's life as well. While this book can be read as a stand alone novel, I honestly have to recommend that you read the other books in this series and possibly even the Weekday Bride series because they are loosely related. And because they were really enjoyable too!
I really enjoy Catherine Bybee’s books and this one is no exception. This book is Shannon’s story and the fourth book in the “First Wives” series. Shannon has always been the quiet one in the group and has always still been in love with the man she was contracted to marry for only two years. Shannon really came out of her shell in this book. Shannon has decided she wants a baby even if it means she has one as a single mother and goes in search for a “baby daddy” and as soon as she gets done with her job of photographing a wedding that is what she is going to do. Unfortunately that does not go as planned as the bride decides she doesn’t want to marry the groom and leaves him there at the altar to explain. From there the story gets really great. I just loved Victor! He just brought out the best in Shannon. The banter between Shannon and Victor is great and makes the book that much more fabulous. We see a new Shannon bloom and come into her own! If you have not read this series, I highly recommend it. They are great!!
Thank you Catherine Bybee, NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great book. Funny and sexy story. Victor and Shannon are great together. Can’t stop reading until the end.
This was my treat to myself over New Years. It’s the fourth in the First Wives series ( I believe) and it was completely enjoyable. The premise was a stretch but the author made it completely believable. Each character had a well thought out personality and made me want to be friends with them!. The book is an escape. It’s not 100% realistic, prob not 50%, but I wanted to cheer her on and I cared what happened. Her sense of humor was refreshing and she didn’t take herself too seriously. I was able to enjoy her and root for her even though she was wealthy, had a job she could do part time, could travel on a minutes notice and had the perfect body. It’s a skill to make that character relatable and likable, but now that I’ve finished, I miss them all! #netgalley #montlakeromance
This book. I just can’t explain how much I loved it. I was nervous going in, because after reading the other books I’d hoped for it to go another way when we got to Shannon’s book. But I can honestly say, I loved the story and am so happy I gave it a chance!
Wow! Not what I was expecting and I loved it! Shannon has been the most reserved character in this whole series. She was still in love with her first husband and was always the voice of reason in this group of women. She never really stood out because the rest of the First Wives had such huge personality.
We got to see a side to Shannon we have never experienced before. I love the way her and Victor met, reacted to each other and then ultimately fell in love. It's an enemies to lovers trope that I admit I usually struggle with, but not in Shannon and Victor's book. I actually, really loved how they got started and how he brought out her sass. The sparks flew from the start!
This whole series has been fantastic. I'm really sad to see it end. I'm hoping Sasha gets a story but I don't think she is a first wife so maybe a start to a new series? One can hope.
I am a big fan of Catherine Bybee’s writing and novels. I find her style easy to read and entertaining, and I am always excited when she has a new release because I know that I’ll enjoy reading it. This is the case with Faking Forever (First Wives Club, Book Four), which is a fun and entertaining. The book is focused on Shannon Wentworth, the final of the four “first wives.” Working as a wedding photographer, a job that doesn’t do her talent justice, she travels to Mexico to photograph the wedding of an inattentive and seemingly uncaring groom to a younger, immature bride whose mother is overbearing—more a bridezilla than the bride herself. This couple is so mismatched that even the groom’s brother is taking bets on how long the marriage will last. Fortunately, there is no wedding and the groom takes the honeymoon alone—just where Shannon has already planned a getaway of her own. With a set-up like that, it’s easy to see where the story is going to lead, but the fun is in getting there.
The book is more-or-less a standalone but, since it is the fourth of a series, it behooves the reader to read the previous three first. Since they are all good reads, why not? My only complaint about this one is that I felt the epilogue was a bit too neat—the entire series tied up in a tight package with a pretty bow. Personally, I’m hoping for a fifth entry, or at least a spin-off, featuring Sasha, Trina’s sister-in-law.
I recommend this book for all who love reading romances or want a nice entertaining read with a feel good ending.
I was given a free copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley and Montlake in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are solely my own.
In Faking Forever, we revisit The First Wives. Shannon agreed to a marriage of convenience to a man running for governor. He won & they divorced. Now she’s trying to decide what to do with the rest of her life. She wants children but is tired of trying to find someone. She’s decided to spend six months looking for & having s one night stand for the sole purpose of getting pregnant. If that doesn’t work, she’ll look at artificial insemination or adoption. The women try to talk her out of it but at least get her to agree that someone needs to be there to look out for her. Wouldn’t you know it? The first time out she finds a man she’s interested in & he’s the groom in the wedding she’s photographer for. When the bride runs out on the wedding, Victor & Shannon start seeing each other. Has she found her happy ever after?
I love this series! The First Wives is s group of women that always have each other’s back. They’ve come together with the strangest tie connecting them & have turned into real friends. They are witty, sarcastic, bitchy, funny & always supportive. Victor & Shannon end up being good for each other. Shannon forces him to stop being serious & leave his work at the office. Victor helps Shannon realize she isn’t content photographing society weddings & helps her see her potential in other photography that would uplift her.

Shannon Wentworth is looking to get pregnant and decides a nameless father is the way to go since she is not in a relationship and her biological clock is ticking. When she is booked as a wedding photographer in Mexico, she decides that this is where she can make this happen. Luckily, Avery decides to join her and help weed out the potential baby daddy's. When Corrie the young bride decides to run her the wedding day, the groom Victor blames Shannon. The tension between Victor and Shannon is amusing which opens the doors for the entire First Wives Club to join in and ensure the two see how perfect they actually are for each other. The only one that does not like this match up is the runaway bride and she acts age appropriate in an attempt to stop the relationship. An appearance from Shannon's ex-husband is another road block that definitely comes from left field. As always, the ending is tissue worthy and will be a story I plan on reading again. Great work from Catherine Bybee.
I enjoyed this addition to the series! The last few Bybee books have been hit or miss but this one was good - but not great.
Shannon and Victor were very likable - each had their own faults but recognized them. The story progressed without a lot of repetition which I find a lot of contemporaries have.
This is one of a series - I would say you can read alone but there is lots of inter action from the characters in the other books so helps to have read them.
Is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with....
