You know how sometimes you read books about families and just sit there and think I wish I was a part of their family. For me, one of the families I wish I could belong to is the DiMarco's. This family just screams genuineness and happiness and they radiate caring and you can't help but feel safe with the family despite, of course, bad things do happen. In Book #5, we have the introduction of Kate and her son Andy who have just moved to their small town- New Hope to start fresh. She isn't looking for romance as she has always been hurt by men in the past. She doesn't trust anyone now and has her walls up. Kate gets a job bartending at Hanks and meets Pike as he is one of the bouncers. One day on her way to work, she has had the worst day ever and is pulled over by a police officer aka Luke DiMarco. He lets her off with a warning, but for Luke, she is his "future wife" and now he will search her out and claim her as his own. The thing though is she is closer than he thinks, but she isn't one to just rollover. She will make Luke fight for it as Kate is a fighter too. Like the previous books, this book has its HEA romance but also, it's suspense moments as Kate attracts a stalker, her house burns down and now a biker gang is after her. Can Luke protect the ones he loves as now he has had a taste of family life with Kate and Andy, he doesn't want to live without them? Find out in Book #5 of the DiMarco Series. We also catch a glimpse in Book #5 - Grace's love story with Tyler and also a bit about Maggie O'Brien who features in one of Jennifer Hank's spin-off series Sinners MC. If you love family sagas, then this is one series you do not want to miss out on. So, check it out starting with Book #1 Lucy.
Kate is trying to make new start with her six year old son Andy when she meets Luke Dimarco and the sparks fly! Will they both get over their baggage and find happiness together?
Another good book in the Dimarco series.......I wish there were brothers like that round my way!
I was a little worried about this book for the first 15% or so but was so glad that I stuck it out because Kate ended up being a really great and touching story of two people falling in love and battling not only their inner demons but outside forces as well. I really loved the dynamic between the hero and heroine and that Kate was a single mom but that it was not all that defined her as we sometimes see in these types of stories. There was a good amount of push and pull between the main characters but I would have liked to see a touch more angst built into the story. Some steamy and sexy love scenes rounded things out and I got to the end of this story feeling very fulfilled!
This book has the best opening scene EVER! Kate’s so harried she just doesn’t can’t take anymore when Luke pulls her over for running a stop sign. The ensuing confrontation had me laughing. Who of is hasn’t had a crap day like Kate’s? Luke’s attraction is immediate despite, or maybe, because of Kate’s prickly reaction to being stopped.
Soon Kate finds Luke pushing his way into her life and those amazing, and so numerous, DiMarcos have made Kate and her son part of their loud, rambunctious and loving family. Of course, both Kate and Luke have issues to overcome and a lot of luggage to unpack before they get their happily ever after and every minute of it is engrossing.
As with the other books in the series there’s plenty of character growth, relationship woes and an element of suspense to keep the reader invested from start to finish. Another solid read in an enjoyable series.
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
Each book in this series as its own unique appeal to it, which I absolutely love! I’ve been dying to get my hands on Luke’s book since the cliffhanger in ‘Gianna.' You couldn't help but fall in love with Kate from the very beginning! She's everything you want in a strong heroine. Once again Jennifer Hanks leaves wanting more and dying to get the next character in the Dimarco family!
The first book I have read in this series, and although I don't think it mattered too much, I would like to go back and read them all before the rest of the series is published.
Kate is new in town, a single mother trying to have a new start with her 6 year old son. Luke falls for her quickly, but she is wary and he seems to be too good to be true.
I had not read any books in this series, so it was very, very complicated to get all the other couples right and who belongs to whom.
Kate and Luke. Well, it was insta-love for him, added drama with other people and finally at the end she comes around.
It wasn’t a book for me. It felt small town-ish and not really believable.
I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
This is the fifth book in the Dimarco Family series. This is technically a standalone. I’ve been eagerly awaiting Luke’s book since the cliffhanger in ‘Gianna.’ I absolutely loved Kate from the very beginning. I loved how Luke and Kate’s relationship progressed. Andy was the sweetest. I enjoyed the Dimarco family as usual. Looking forward to Grace’s book next.
* ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Thanks for allowing me to review an ARC of Kate by Jennifer Hanks. Having read all the other books in this series, I can honestly say I was thrilled to read Luke's story. Luke captured my attention in the previous book and deserved his happily ever after.
I loved Jennifer Hanks' writing style and the way you are able to feel a part of the big Dimarco family. Their love and bond comes across the pages beautifully.
Kate and her son, Andy, have moved to town to start a new life. Kate and Luke have an initial run in that is less than grand but still very impressionable for them both. You fall in love with sweet Andy and in many parts of the book he steals the show.
Luke is strong and sexy and completely smitten with Kate. Now, he only need to convince Kate he is sincere and in it for the long haul in order to get her on board. There are intense, heartbreaking moments that take the fire out of the story, but this family, as always, rallies behind those they love to come together and heal. Kate doesn't know how to rely on others for that and is harder to trust. Once she allows that in she experiences what love is all about.
Great story. Love this series and family! So excited for Grace!
Kate is book five in The Dimarco Series, but the first one I've read in this stand alone series. If you like single mom heroines with alpha male heroes pursing them, then this is the story for you. I like Kate and Luke together, even though at times I thought Luke was a little over the top. There's a little bit of suspense that helped keep me turning the pages and the side characters were amazing.
Kate's had some hardships in life, mainly pertaining to her son's father, which has caused some trust issues with her. I liked how Luke was patient and took his time to earn that trust before getting serious with her.
I loved the dynamic of the Diamarco family and am eager to go back and read the previous novels.
I really enjoyed this one! (Brody is still my favorite though - just putting that out there!)
Kate is new to town, looking for a fresh start with her 6 year old son - Andy. Enter Luke who seems to fall in love with her the moment he sees her.
These two go from Kate not liking him, to them as friends then to lovers. Very sweet! I thought the author told this story very well. I also enjoy seeing with all the brothers.
I highly recommend this one!
Can be read on its own, but I do recommend reading them in order starting with Lucy.
