I enjoyed the number of women involved in the sciences in this book and many of these characters provide meaningful role models for women readers. Unfortunately I felt the story itself was a bit flat for me.

I didn't end up enjoying this one. It sounded interesting, but as soon as I started reading, I knew I wasn't going to love this series, but the more I read, the more I realized that I was mostly just bored. Nothing connected me to the story or sparked any interest at all.

I did not enjoyed volume 1 much, but I decided to try this one and... no. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as the previous one, originality is lost, characters are underdeveloped again, nothing interesting and new happening that I couldn't see in any other book similar to that. It did not catch my interest just the same as it did not book before. But it is not bad, some people would appreciate probably.

One of the better Catalyst Prime books. I like the focus on science even if this turns into something of a corporate raider story. I especially like the amount of women involved in science in the book, I work in tech and would love to see more women apply themselves to STEM. Having empowered female characters helps young girls to see they can do the same.

I've casually followed this series from its inception and while it started out well, it quickly fell into the routine for such stories, offering nothing spectacular or even new. Put together by a variety of writers and a plethora of artists, the stories have been patchy at best, and the more I read, the less thrilled I became with it.

It's always tempting to read one more in the hope that it will turn around, but whenever I do, it fails to impress, so I think with this particular volume I'm done with the series because it really did not bring anything new, exciting, or even interesting to the table, and the series now has a strong odor of repetitiveness and lack of fresh ideas. On top of that, when you marginalize and diminish your main character, you have to see that this isn't a good thing for your story.

In this volume we had the potential for a strong female character in the form of Val, and with that and a female writer, I really had hoped for a lot more than I got. Val wasn't given anything to do. She was more like a tool or an experiment than a hero, so instead of super-heroics, we got a lot of sitting around and talking, with Val being sent out a couple of times like a soldier with new body armor to see what would happen if she got shot. I saw no entertainment value in that, and I can't recommend this as a worthy read.

'Summit Vol. 2: Price of Power' by Amy Chu with art by Federico Dallocchio takes a step back in quality from the first volume and that's too bad.

Val Resnick-Baker is settling in to her life post-Event. She is teaching at M.I.T. and her team is finding new ways to build power suits for her. But it seems that her team isn't the only one involved in high tech weaponry. It also seems that it's not Foresight that is the bad guy, at least this time.

The random flashbacks seemed to be missing, which I'm glad about, but the story was a standard industrial espionage case that felt tired. The art took a step back this volume as well. The whole thing seemed full of promise with Volume 1. I hope that things can turn around after this volume.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Lion Forge, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

"Summit" vol. 2 deals with the aftermath of the events in vol. 1. Val is attending therapy due to the voices she hears. She has a job teaching at MIT. JB and the rest of the crew are creating a new suit to help her adjust to her superpowers. However, a threat has arisen to take her down.

I really like the diverse cast of characters in "Summit." Val and JB have such a wonderful friendship, and the two of them are trying to be good guardians/role models for Fiona. The various storylines are interesting. There's a mystery as Val and the team try to discover who wants to steal her powers and suit. But there is also just the everyday stuff as Val deals with her job, therapy, grief, superpowers, and even being set up on a blind date by JB.

I've read several other works by Amy Chu recently, and I really like her style. It's natural, flows well, and she is able to incorporate humor into an otherwise serious story. Overall, "Summit' is a well-written, nicely-drawn series with strong characters, and the ending of vol. 2 left me wanting more.

Unfortunately, this book did not download. I really enjoyed the first volume and would be glad to review a pdf or hard copy.
