Two novellas for the price of one - above stairs novella and below stairs novella. These are part of an ongoing series and you may be a bit lost if you haven't read the other books - I haven't read all of them but was able to follow along easily.
Twelth Night - Gervase and Margaret's story. Currently lovers, will this couple find their way to a life-long love? The romance seems easy, they have outside forces to contend with.
Epiphany - a story about servants in Gervase and Margaret's households. Very interesting, will her lady's maid and his valet find a way to loving each other? Maybe they will rekindle an old flame.
Both novellas are sweeter rather than spicy. I personally like the spicy better, but these stories have solid, enjoyable plot lines. Good read, would recommend to readers who like sweet rather than steamy.
Intimate Delights by Pamela Sherwood is a novella collection in the Lyons Pride series. This lovely book is a series of vignettes rounding out the tales spun in the longer books. Three love stories: Gervase and Margaret, Tilda and Farnsworth, and an excerpt from A Bride by Michaelmas. For a reader of Victorian love stories, these will satisfy. All are filled with romance, all end happily (as a romance should), but the lovers are not without issues.
I enjoy this series. It is reasonably accurate, well plotted, and filled with interesting characters and situations. The series deals with both above-and below-stairs, which always lends an interesting perspective to any story. It is entertaining to get to know these people, and see they are much like modern days characters in many ways. A cheerful, pleasant read for any afternoon. I recommend it highly.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. #netgalley #intimatedelights
This was a little like upstairs, downstairs.
I felt as though I was plunged into the middle of the first story concerning Lady Margaret and Lord Gervase. At times I felt like I was reading between the lines. However once I realised the connection between everyone it was an enjoyable read.
The second story concerning their servants, Tilda, the lady’s maid and Farnsworth, the valet was an engrossing read. I liked the flashbacks to their backgrounds and the way the life of a servant was portrayed. This was a most entertaining read.
I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a charming pair of Christmas romance stories. The first one is very short but informative non the less. I had not read the opening story in this series but still found both of these, one very short and the other more lengthy very well written and enjoyable.
I gave this pair of tales 4.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization. This is a pair of clean/sweet regencies with no real intimacy.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
After the life-changing events of Christmastide, the Lyons Pride is attempting to move forward. Romance, however, is on Lord Gervase’s mind as he plans a special celebration for his beloved Margaret on Twelfth Night.
This was a very short story but followed on charmingly from 'Devices and Desires', which was the first in the series. It flowed well & the characterisation was true to the novel. I really enjoyed what I felt was a long epilogue
Epiphany
Tilda James is an impeccable lady’s maid to Lady Bellamy. Simon Farnsworth is an ideal valet to Lord Gervase. Both agree that their employers are perfect for each other and decide to encourage their budding romance.
This was the longer novella & was a lovely seasonal read, it was obvious what was going to happen quite early on but the journey was captivating. It was original to have two servants as the main characters & I found that originality refreshing. Simon & Tilda are two hardworking efficient servants who try their best to give their employers a HEA but in doing so find themselves enjoying each others company.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
From the series, The Lyons Pride. Lord Gervase and Margaret, Lady Bellamy are attracted to each other.. Since she was once engaged to his late brother, it feels wrong somehow. During Christmas at a house party their feelings for each other are revealed, They have noticed that her ladies maid has formed an attachment to someone in the household. Who could it be? Margaret and Gervase make a bet as to who it is. Who will win the wager? There are two short stories in this book dealing with more than one romance. There is a broken heart as well. I haven't read any of the other books in this series and was able to keep up although there are questions that I have about the other characters. I will read the other books so I can put it all together. It is a Christmas time story so it fits into the season. I received this book from Net Galley and Blue Castle Publishing for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
