Cassie is on the girls trip of a lifetime with her friends when she spots a sexy kilted Highlander with an accent to die for, so of course she decides that “one night off” from climbing the career ladder couldn’t hurt. It’s not every day a girl comes across a guy like Logan, and like any driven woman Cassie goes for it.
Cassie and Logan seem like an unlikely pair. He’s wounded and determined to hide it all behind jokes and pranks. She’s so focused on work she just might miss out on the rest of her life. But the sparks do fly when they’re together.
Getting Hot With The Scot is a fun and sexy read. It’s lighthearted with moments of intensity and drama, so pretty much it’s got it all. There are the expected ups and downs but the story is worth taking the journey. I enjoyed this story and rated it 4 stars only because the characters felt a tad immature. It worked for them, but not great for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for this ARC of Getting Hot with the Scot. I enjoyed this book. I found it to be a very quick read. It was well written and I loved following Cassie & Logan’s love story. Plus what girl doesn’t love a man with an accent?!

The only parts that made it a little confusing for me were some of the Scottish words throughout the book. Only because I don’t know any of it, so sometimes I wasn’t totally sure what a certain term meant. Overall though I really liked it and would recommend it!

Getting Hot with the Scot is a fun and flirty romantic comedy with lots of laughs and some steamy goodness along the way. Despite that, I had a really hard time getting into this one, and I'm really not sure why. The characters are likable enough if a bit immature at times, and I did like Logan's prankster side. I kept at it, and the story did start to grow on me until I finally was able to get fully behind this couple. They certainly have a solid attraction between them, and eventually, it does grow into something more. That said, their road to a happy ever after isn't all sunshine and roses - they do have to work for it a little to get there. In the end, the story did grow on me and I wound up enjoying it once I got into it. It is worth the read, and I'll be interested to see where the series goes.

What a great story!! Two people who come from different places coming together with an attraction to rival all others. This book started out as a one night stand for Cassie while she is on a vacation of a lifetime with her best friends turned into a great love story. Sure there were misunderstandings between Cassie and Logan but the book wasn't overly dramatic. Overall a cute story with great characters and plenty of spice added to mix it all up.

Getting Hot with the Scot is a cute book by a new to me author.

The story is fresh and had several laugh out loud moments as well as chemistry between our main characters.
While I enjoyed reading it it was a bit long a d drawn out at times. It also needed another storyline to keep the reader interested in what was happening with this couple.

Fun and sexy and did I say fun! Cassie Crow and her girlfriends are on a European trip and their last destination is Scotland, her choice, but really all she wanted on this vacation was a wild one-night stand and that is why she packed the box of condoms. However, the box is still unopened and they are soon heading home. Just when things are really boring, she takes a wrong turn and runs into a red headed Scot in a kilt. Oh my, she just could not pass by the man in a kilt and didn't realize it was a prank until she figured out who he was, Logan Reid, and once she did it was over but not before the kiss that rocked both their worlds. He needs to get her to sign a release and she is having nothing to do with it and he will chase her across England to get it. Along the way so much sexy times and lots of fun happens. Don't forget the girlfriends are along and Logan has a friend too, Theo, who is a hoot. Such great characters keep this story going and I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Melonie Johnson is a new author to watch. I expect great things from her in the genre of contemporary romance. If it has a Scottish flair to it, even better. Getting Hot with the Scot is a cute romance with two career minded singles. I will admit that I was put off at the beginning with the premise of a planned on the hunt for someone to have a fling with was part of Cassie vacation plan. Then I felt the same about Logan as Cassie when they first met.

The story is well thought out with a blend of drama and humor. The characters grew on me as the story progress. Characters I did like from the first meeting where family of Logan and friends of the couple. The pretty much called events like they saw them. Also the writing is crisp like a new dollar bill. No slowdowns or filler in the writing but a smooth pace with the story always moving forward.

This is a novel that perhaps will appeal to a younger crowd more than someone older like myself. I don’t mean high school or YA but readers of a similar generation as the two main characters. They would love this story of two professionals finding love, especially when they avoid ever being tied down.

This is my first time reading Melonie Johnson, and she's definitely scored a fan in me!

Johnson gives readers a sexy and fun story, that's plenty hot and filled with amazing characters.

Cassie and Logan have an insane amount of chemistry. Johnson totally nailed the connection between these two because I could practically feel it as I read. Cassie stands her ground and is a strong and relatable heroine. Logan is charming and has a penchant for pulling pranks, but beneath that he's a sweetheart and it was easy to root for him as the hero in this story.

I like when authors give readers a good set of secondary characters, and Johnson did that. She created the perfect group to build a book series around. Each individual is down-to-earth and relatable, which made it easy for me to imagine myself in the world with them as I was reading. I can't wait to spend more time with these characters!

The UST in this book is insane! Cassie and Logan sizzle off the pages, and when the two get beneath the sheets, it's hot as sin. And there's no shortage of the between-the-sheets action either.

Johnson's writing is great and I loved the plot of this one. She did a great job with the Scottish piece of the story as well. The dialect and Scotland-specific pieces only served to make the story more authentic. It moved at the perfect pace, I was able to laugh, swoon, and get stuck on the edge of my seat. This is a great romance story and definitely one to pick up if you're looking for something hot and fun to read.

Four stars to this novel!

On her bucket list, have a foreign fling. This straight-laced career woman is totally out of character when she agrees to go with her friends on a vacation to 5 different European countries. Hunky Highlander is her foreign fling and that's how she wants it and what he wants as well. As things progress the couple start to see each other on a regular basis . When she has to go back to work in the states how will this work out, especially since they parted on not the best of terms?
This is the debut novel by author Melonie Johnson. Great plot and I enjoyed seeing the character development. A ton of fun to read and a keeper for your shelf!

4 Stars!
Cassie Crow is a pop-culture reporter for a morning talk show in Chicago called ChiChat. She loves her job and friends. She made a pact with her girls that five years after graduation the five of them would take their dream vacation. Three weeks ago they left to travel all over Europe, and are now nearing the last leg of their once in a lifetime trip. Currently they are in Scotland touring an ancient castle when she stumbles upon a hot, brawny highlander. It just so happens a fabulous, fantasy fling is on her vacation bucket list. She hasn't been able to check it off her list, so this gorgeous ginger might be just what she's been looking for.

Cassie wanted a steamy foreign encounter she would never forget, and that's exactly what she gets with Logan. She wasn't the type to have a one night stand with a perfect stranger, but vacation Cassie was going to take risks, let loose, and indulge. For once she was going to take a chance and be impulsive. When he was near her inhibitions flew out the window, and logic was replaced with lust. She wanted him so desperately nothing else seemed to matter.

Logan Reid is the internet host for a web show called Shenanigans known for its juvenile prank videos. While filming his latest hoax he crosses paths with a beautiful, sassy American. She's a challenge and full of attitude, but he finds her irresistible and intriguing. One touch and he realizes one night with her will never be enough. Will he put his career first or take a chance on love?

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson is book one in the Sometimes in Love series. It is the authors debut novel, and a fantastic contemporary romance that is extremely sexy and funny. I really enjoyed this story and all the supporting characters. I look forward to the other books in the series that will feature the friends and different couples.

* I was provided an arc by NetGalley in exchange for a review*

This is Book 1 in the Sometimes in Love series and I really enjoyed this book. What a fun, sweet, steamy read. Logan and Cassie are great!

This is a Eurotrip done right with a group of friends who will each be starring in their own romance. I love the whole idea of each friend picking a country. Cassie just wants her Euro-fling and Logan is perfect for that and so much more. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t fall for that accent.

4 I'd Get Hot with this Scot Any Day Stars!!

This was my very first book by Ms. Johnson and I'm so glad I stepped out of my "box" and took the leap into her words. The blurb alone had me because a man in a kilt in Scotland and romance and I'm hooked.

Cassie is my kind of woman. She's career focused and doesn't have a lot of time for outside activities which includes dating or relationships. However, she and her besties have been planning this big vacation for a while and she's ready to have some fun...especially the kind that means having a fling with a hottie stranger. Problem is, she just hasn't met anyone worth her time...until she runs into Logan Reid...literally!!!

Just start fanning me now...tall and sexy with an accent, in a kilt with a sense of humor!!! And so begins what's supposed to be a one night fling and turns into so much more. I loved watching their relationship evolve changing how they think about love. This book was such a sexy and fun read!!!

I'm so happy to have discovered a new to me author. Ms. Johnson has a way of describing her scenes that allow the reader to be right in the heart of the action. The characters are very well developed and I could picture myself being friends with these women! I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series!!

I never know what to expect the first time I read an author but this book certainly did not disappoint.

I loved the antics and shenanigans. There is so much witty humor. I am already completely invested in this group of friends.

I loved the personalities of Cassie and Logan. They kept each other on their toes and I was constantly wondering if they would make it.

I'm looking forward to this new series and I can't wait to see what happens in the next one!

This book had me laughing out loud and my husband wondering what could possibly be so funny.  I never know what to expect with romance novels but this one hit all of my buttons - humor, romance, sexy scenes, and a myriad of emotions.

Cassie and four of her girlfriends on a trip of a lifetime (that really made me wish I was there with them and not just enjoying it vicariously through this book) and Cassie is ready for her souvenir, a fling with a hot guy she will meet somewhere on her vacation.  What she didn't expect was to find her perfect match in Logan.  Logan is a red-headed Scotsman and probably everything Cassie could want in a man and it doesn't hurt that he looks good in a kilt.  However, he has some relationship issues of his own and will Cassie be the one that gets through to him and changes his outlook?

The book is filled with quick wit, book quotes (from Shakespeare to Ann of Green Gables), steamy scenes, and descriptions of Scotland and England that might entice you to visit those countries.  The interaction between the characters was engaging and there was someone for everyone to love and to hate.  I enjoyed the Scottish language peppered throughout the book and while most of the time I knew what the words meant, there was one that I couldn't figure out - bejants.  I know now it is referring to a first-year student at a university or a freshman as we would call them here in the states.  Cassie and Logan also grow and evolve as individuals and a couple as the book progresses.

There are some great supporting characters - Theo, Logan's mate from school and Bonnie, Cassie's friend from an early age.  These two show what true friends do for each other.  Here is a little advance notice - there is a book featuring these two due out in May 2019.

Overall we loved this book and can't wait for Theo & Bonnie's story.  We give this 5 paws up.

I had such fun with GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT that I’m still smiling. With that title, there is no way I could resist this one.

It’s so easy to put Romance in categories these days, but to put it simply – if you love a story that will have you chuckling and laughing out loud, perhaps shed a few tears or at least get misty-eyed, and love when an author can give you an accent in words that you can actually hear then you’re gonna want to pick up Logan and Cassie’s adventure right now.

They may have started out as a hot fling while away from home, but they soon discovered that the spark burns beyond that time limit. I don’t want to give away details that you should discover for yourself, so check out the blurb and know that you will be swept away to a fun, sizzling adventure with not only good friends but a couple that fit perfectly together. I had a blast, and I believe you will as well.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

As she's touring Europe with her friends, Cassie really wants to have a hot one night stand. She's been to France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands but nothing. When in Edinburgh though, she meets a hot Scot wearing a kilt in the Castle and her heart melts. But that's only the beginning of her trouble.

I'm gonna have to be honest, I skimmed a little. I just wasn't all that into it. I didn't really connect with the characters and I guess I haven't been in the mood for romance lately, especially m/f romance... I couldn't get behind the whole following to another country thing and I skimmed for a big part of the book. Still, it wasn't bad, just very predictable and it lacked a bit of heart, maybe? Idk... But a part of it was set in Edinburgh so that's something...

Funny, sweet and a little bit crazy is the best way I can come up with to describe this story. The author takes a cute idea and turns it into the basic plot for this series. This book features Cassie and Logan's romance. I liked both characters but as hot and sweet as Logan was, I'm not sure I could have lived with his shenanigans. That being said, there was no denying the attraction and sparks that these two shared. Still I found I could not get 100% behind this couple. It was a fun and steamy read though and I do look forward to reading more books in this series.

This is the first book in this new Sometimes in Love Series by Melonie Johnson. I liked the cover on the book and the five best friends from college taking a trip to Europe, Scotland, and England. Each of the best friends chose a country that they would visit.
Cassie wanted to visit Scotland and Edinburgh Castle thinking a one night stand with a Scotsman in a highland kilt would be fun and totally out of character for her but like one of her romance books she liked to read.
Logan Reid ends up being a Scot in a kilt filming a scene for his Shenanigan's show and he has just caught Cassie in a scene if he can only get her to sign the release papers.
What begins as a one night stand turns into something more. The beginning of the story seemed slow at times but as the story progressed the pacing picked up. I enjoyed picturing the sights in Scotland and I could also imagine hearing the Scottish Brogue. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
