Oh Cassie! Just give in and admit that Logan is, well, a fun guy and you do feel that spark. Well, she does (Oh how she does!). This is a fast fun read with two entertaining characters. You'll learn some Scottish expressions and some slang (I admit to looking a few things up) but you'll also smile a lot. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Perfect for when you want a diversionary, cheery romance with as the title says- a hot Scot.

Getting Hot with the Scot is book one in the Sometimes in Love series by Melonie Johnson. This is my very first book by Melonie. Put together one hot Scot, one American tourist, some alcohol and some hijinks, what have you got? A recipe for trouble.
Cassie Crow works hard at her job as pop culture reporter for a television network in Chicago. She doesn’t have time for dating, for socializing. But now it’s time to let her hair down. She and her four girl friends have been planning this vacation for years. They are touring five different countries, each friend having chosen one of the countries. Cassie has never done anything like this before, every experience is a first for her. She has one more experience she’d like to check off her bucket list, to have a fling with a sexy man from one of the countries. She just can’t seem to find the right one. But, while touring a castle in Scotland, after a few shots of whiskey and a wrong turn, she finds herself face to face with a very sexy highlander.
Logan Reid stars and produces an internet show, Shenanigans. It’s a show of practical jokes that has caught the attention of a major network in the states. It’s all he wants, to prove that he can take this to the next level. Cassie bulldozes into his life and turns Logan’s world upside down. She makes him forget everything he has been wanting for so long. All he wants when he’s close to her is her.
“He was the right man, this was the right moment, and she was done waiting.”
Their one night stand turns into two which turns into more. Feelings start to enter into things but soon it’s time for Cassie to go home. Little did these two realize their story is not yet over.
Cassie wants to get away from pop culture and prove that she has more. That she can report more important stories. There is no room in her life for anything else, is there? Logan has his own agenda. Neither of these two have ever been in a serious relationship, both too busy dealing with their own lives. The chemistry they share, though, the bond that has begun to develop between them, is too much to ignore. Can they find a way to make it all work?
This was a sweet book. Logan was indeed a sexy Scot. I enjoyed watching things develop between them. I have to admit that the story lagged at times. I found myself wanting to skim and tried to force myself to slow down and read it properly. I did enjoy getting to know the secondary characters. I’m particularly intrigued with Logan’s best friend, Theo and Cassie’s best friend, Bonnie. These two will be featured in the second book in this series, Smitten by the Brit. All in all, this was a fun, sexy book. I really liked the ending. Cassie and Logan really were perfect for each other. It just takes them awhile to figure that out for themselves.

Getting Hot with the Scot is a fabulously fun and flirty read!
The chemistry between Logan and Cassie was instantaneous and smoking hot. And the way they met was so cute.
I really enjoyed meeting the other ladies and look forward to their books. I found their friendship awesome and inspiring, and loved that they took the trip of a lifetime together.
All in all, I very much enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next in the series.

Getting Hot with The Scot was such a fun, steamy, funny and awesome story! I must admit I didn't know what to expect from this book but WOW I was pleasantly surprised at how much I adored this book! I am heading to my email now to get Smitten by The Brit, which is the second book in this series!
Nothing better than falling in love with a new series!!!!

This was a cute book, and I enjoyed Melonie Johnson's writing. It was a cute romantic comedy that I finished in a day! I love plots that center around a strong female lead and her quirky group of gal pals (knowing that all of them will eventually get their own stories). Cassie was fun and relatable, and Logan was a good male lead that made you fall in love with him. A definite must read for fans of romcom books!

Cassie Crow and her four best friends were having a marvelous time on their long-planned whirlwind tour of Europe. The castle in Scotland had all the necessary requirements – whisky tasting and a lecture by a prominent author – and Cassie left the other ladies to find the restroom. Getting turned around in the castle hallways, Cassie opened a door to find a tall, handsome Scot dressed in a loose shirt and a kilt, and feeling an instant attraction, she kissed him passionately, recognizing too late that he was Logan Reid, the host of a show that pranked people for other’s amusement. Furious with Logan, and with herself, Cassie refused to sign the waiver allowing Logan and his sister Janet to air that segment.
Determined to get the waiver signed, Logan enlists the help of a college buddy, asking him to meet him in London, the girls’ last stop before heading back to Chicago. Logan was sure he could sweet-talk Cassie into signing, but as they spent time together, he realized he just wanted to enjoy her company as long as he possibly could.
This is much like the romance novels Cassie reads and fantasizes about – American girl visits Scotland, falls hard for man in kilt, passionate nights spent together, girl goes back home – but I don’t think it’s expected that the man in the kilt follows her back to America. This is a good, solid love story, with the hoped for and expected HEA.

This book, "Getting Hot with the Scot," was the first that I've read from author Melonie Johnson and I thought it was very cute! I liked Cassie as the main character, and I appreciated that she cared about her work and professional reputation. I especially enjoyed her friendship with her girl pals, how they looked after one another and gently teased everyone. Even Cassie and her mom's conversations were really sweet! All of the secondary characters were well-developed and not just stereotypes or archetypes there to further the plot or shout, "Oh no he didn't" to the main character.
Logan seemed charming and hot and I loved seeing him and Cassie dance around each other. The angst wasn't too overwhelming, just enough for you to see how they decide to work things out. There was a lot of humor and some great witty moments. I appreciated how the author set up Cassie and Logan's respective friends for their own sequel (with a little shout out to Ariel and Prince Eric)!
Overall, I definitely enjoyed the book. My only complaint is that the book felt long - I thought it was wrapping up but then there was a whole third act!
I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a new author for me and I enjoyed reading this first book by her -- Logan was a fun, sexy Scottish character (I had to learn his slang from time to time) and an exciting match for Cassie. I enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters and friends -- I think it makes for a more enjoyable experience when reading the other books in a series. Which means I'm really looking forward to learning more about Bonnie and Theo relationship! Enjoyable, fun rom-com - solid 4 star read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC through NetGalley and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was not the book for me. I requested it because of it's blurb by Christina Lauren of it being "Playful, passionate, and positively unputdownable"; yeah, well unfortunately, I didn't feel like it was playful nor passionate and I was definitely able to set this bad boy down on several occasions. I felt like there was absolutely no chemistry or connection between our Scot, Logan, and our heroine, Cassie; and the lengths this guys went to get what he wanted from her was borderline creepy. I was really overall put off by our hero the entire time.
I also felt like the author tried way to hard to make Logan authentic that it came entirely fake (almost like she got way to happy with the scottish slang dictionary and decided to throw as much of it in the book as she could). Maybe this is a case of right book, wrong reader--but this wasn't the book for me sadly.

Ummm, this was adorable! And I think I found a new romance writer to enjoy. Cassie and her friends are all realistic with their own problems. I liked the chance encounter between Logan and Cassie while they're in the castle doing their whiskey tasting. The dynamic between Logan and Cassie's friend was funny and didn't feel fake/forced at all.
I am excited to read the next two books from Melonie Johnson that I got early copies of from Netgalley. I looking forward to reading Bonnie and Sadie's stories!

Can I just say wow? This book had all the elements that are my kryptonite. Hot Scot. Kilts. Sassy dialogue. Career driven heroine. Real female friendships. A love of romance. Disney references. Yup. This book had it all. From the very first when Cassie & Logan meet to their London adventures to the return to 'real' life, this book had me devouring the pages. Read this book for smart sassy fun.

This fun romp of a book is well written and easy to read. The circle of good friends and the added romance of a foreign fling makes this story easy, humorous and heartfelt. There is drama and steam, but the author does not extend it to the breaking point (the point of throwing the book down in disgust, because the drama drags on and on and on). Read this one, as you sip an adult beverage with your feet up, and enjoy.

This started out cute as the heroine meets up with a handsome Scottish guy known for his webshow where he pranks people. He is pretending to be a Highlander-sort of character who is taken by this modern beauty he’s encountered. They flirt and kiss and then she recognizes him. He has to pursue her in order to get her permission to air the encounter and she refuses to give it to him. But she doesn’t refuse his company and some hot sex.
My interest waned after that first meeting. Maybe it’s because I don’t like such prank-shows and couldn’t get interested in the guy winning the girl based on having tried to prank her publicly in the beginning. Perhaps the same characters with a different career and impetus for their continued meetings would have kept my interest more.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This was a really fun and charming book. As a travel junkie myself, I loved the premise of a group of girlfriends traveling around Europe together. The main character, Cassie, has wanted to have a foreign fling throughout the trip, but hasn't met the right guy. All that changes when she gets to Scotland and encounters Logan by getting roped into a prank he's filming for his online comedy show. Things escalate from there! I loved female friendships as well as the romance here. Good times!

This was such a fun ramantic read. I enjoyed Cassie & Logan, especially how they met. As a fan of Highlander romances myself, I could see getting caught up in the moment like Cassie. :-) Seeing their relationship develop throughout the book was great. I also love Cassie’s friends & hope each one is getting their story told as well. I highly recommend reading this book. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Cassie Crow, on a European vacation with her five best friends meets Logan Reid, a kilted Scotsman while touring a castle. Her goal on this vacation was to have a one-night-stand and Logan seems like the right candidate. The meeting is the beginning of a love/hate relationship that keeps the reader's interest until the end.

2 1/2 stars
This is a YMMV review.
The meet-cute between Cassie Crow and Logan Reid in Melonie Johnson’s Getting Hot with the Scot was unpredictable, funny, and sexy and made me think that I was going to read a funny, sexy unpredictable novel. While the sexy continued, the funny died with unpredictable, and it took my interest with it until the very end and the romantic grand gesture. Perhaps part of my feeling toward Getting Hot with the Scot is that the meet-cute felt so misleading for what came next.
For much of the beginning of the novel, it seemed like the author had discovered a website of Scottish sayings and slang and felt it necessary to liberally sprinkle them throughout Logan Reid’s dialogue, which resulted in much of the dialogue sounding stilted in order to accommodate the words. Unfortunately even an Irish slang word got tossed into the mix.
As for the actual romance between Cassie and Logan, despite frequent romps for much of the beginning, the two didn’t have much chemistry or a connection that came across on the page. Imagine knowing someone for a month, having sex with them, and pretty much living with them and then on the monthiversary, asking them to tell you about their family. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty much a first, second, or third date question, never longer than that. Even when she’s mad at him, all Cassie can think about is getting into his pants…or under his kilt. Yep, I get it– Scot + kilt = hot, but still.
While I wanted very much for Logan and Cassie’s story to enthrall me, it didn’t happen. I reached a point of apathy, because the story dragged on, and I just wanted to read The End. Unfortunately, at the point of ennui, Cassie began to seem like a fleshed out character with her pursuit of books for everyone. For this reader, it was too little too late. Cassie should have always been this person, even if she was fantasy Cassie in Europe. I am hoping that Bonnie and Theo’s book is a significantly better read for me.
So what makes this a YMMV review? Hundreds of reviewers on Goodreads love this book. They call it witty, fun, frisky, and sexy. So if you are a reader who loves Scottish accents and appreciate a guy saying “lass” a lot, men in kilts, and sexy ginger men, Getting Hot with the Scot may be for you.
I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review.

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson is a fun romance and quick read.
Cassie and her friends Bonnie, Sadie, Ana, and Delaney have been planning their dream vacation together since college. Finally, the time has arrived and they are off to five European countries. Each ahs her own goals for what they would like to do and see. One of Cassie’s is to have a wild vacation fling. When she has a chance encounter with a hot Scot wearing a kilt, she is ready. Will she be able to just walk away the next day?
I liked this book. It was a quick and easy read. The characters are mostly realistic and while Cassie seems a bit quick to fall for Logan it what her plan was from the beginning. This is a pretty typical romance story but there are some surprises along the way. I give this book 4 of 5 stars.

Getting Hot With the Scot by Melonie Johnson
I have to admit that a foreign accent will catch my attention. And if he’s cute and in a kilt? Yeah, I’d probably be out of control flirting.
The heroine had a goal on her foreign vacation: a one-night stand with a sexy stranger.
The story was a cute premise and a sexy read.
For the younger, uncommitted single reader. NOT YA.
I don’t care for pranks or practical jokes which put me at odds with the hero from the start. He redeems himself by the end with his Mam and his deep feelings for the heroine.
Mam = mother.
Lots of local Scottish slang I was unfamiliar with, some I could find in a dictionary or figure out from the sentence, some I could not. bejants - dictionary didn’t work on this one.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

I liked, Getting hot with the Scot. I found it funny, well written and also with the right bit of heat between the 2 main characters. Gotta love a man in a kilt!
