A wonderful read full of swoon and love with witty dialogue and banter. I was addicted from the first pages and loved the evolution of the romance.
This is an easy read which would delight the any romance reader. It has everything a good romance should have. The HOT SCOT is easy to imagine in your mind which all romance readers want. Basically a young women in Europe looking for a roll in the hay with a good looking Scotsman.
A great book to recommend to anyone who enjoys romance novels.
Getting Hot with the Scot is a cute, lighthearted romance full of laughs and fun. The book follows Cassie and her group of friends, who are taking a trip through Europe. When Cassie encounters Logan in Scotland, she can’t help the attraction that she feels for him. Cassie believes that they can have a fun foreign fling, but somehow it turns into more. Though there is some drama to the story, it doesn’t weigh down the book. Melonie Johnson is a new author to me (thank you NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review), and I found myself really enjoying the writing style. Despite the book’s length, the story moves forward quickly and I had a smile on my face while reading much of the book. I will definitely check out more books by this author in the future, and am looking forward to the next standalone book in this series!
Okay, this was just FUN.
This was a fast read sure to delight the seasoned romance reader. It has all the elements of a good romance!! It even mentions exactly why romance readers read romance!
A great book to recommend to anyone who enjoys romance novels and anyone who wouldn't mind Getting Hot with the Scot! :-)
Be prepared for a very explicit first half a book. When its overdone like that it removes an legitimate belief of genuine romance development. That aside the characters are polar opposites, that obviously are attracted to each other. You've got 5 American friends nearing the end of their dream trip to Europe when one of them, Cassie, finds herself lost in Edinburgh Castle.
Logan, is as stereotypical as they come, and this has been written to emphasize that. I'm not really a fan of stereotyping characters from country's - but it's what authors do. Don't bat an eye when the English best friend is also a Duke...
Once they manage to leave the bedroom scenes behind, there's a chance at a bit of a story between them. It's good but gets lost.
I received a free eARC. This is my honest review.
I thought I would give this new author a read. Well let me tell you I'm very glad I did. Getting hot with the Scot brought out a bevy of emotions in me... it was funny, romantic, infuriating at times, sad at the right times reminicing and just plain ole enjoyable.
The cast of characters were great.
The writing was so expressive- you actually could imagine what it looked like in Scotland!
I will definitely be wanting to read the next book !!
This was a very fun, quick, and light read. Just what I needed after some more serious and creepy thrillers.
I loved the close friendships between the characters, it's nice to read about genuine love and caring for friends these days. Both the male and female characters both had strong friendships and family relations to rely upon, which is a nice change of pace in my books of late.
One of the best parts of this book was the message. Yes, there is love, and friendship, and great backdrops, but also it's about not shaming people for whatever type of book they like to read. Romance, comic books, sci-fi, mysteries. Reading is reading, and that is all that matters.
Witty, fun and filled with humor and heart, GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT by Melonie Johnson will leave readers smiling at the romantic antics of one American woman and the sexy man-in-a-kilt who will check off the final “to-do” item on her list!
Cassie Crow took a walk on the wild side when sexy Scot, Logan Reid melted her libido with his oh-so-hot accent. Will one night together be enough or will these two discover that even an ocean cannot keep them apart, in spite of their fear of the pitfalls of commitment.
As bright as a sunny day, this love story has passion, emotional upheaval and two adorable characters who just can’t seem to get on the same page when it comes to love. Witty dialogue, clever clichés, sizzling, enthusiastic dances between the sheets, grab a beach chair and fall in love with love!

I really wanted to love this book, I truly did! But I just couldn't get past how immature Logan continued to be. I mean how old was he because he acted like my 12 year old. Pranks and jokes are ok every once in a while and if that is your character, fine but tone it down after, oh say age 14? Yeah not a fan of Logan.
Cassie reminded me of a noodle, one minute she felt one way then the next it was the total opposite. I mean she was a goody two-shoes wanting a hot romp with a hot Scot. I mean I totally get that but I just couldn't connect.
I have the next book to read and review and maybe that one will grab my attention more? We shall see...
This book was amazing! At first I wasn't sure what to expect with this one because it is the first book I have read from this author. The book centers around two characters from two different worlds. Logan Reid, Scottish actor and American Cassie Crowe, correspondent from a sitcom. Both meet during Cassie's vacation with friends and every moment is magical. There were a few things I wish would have happened to other characters in the story, but I was pleased with this authors writing. She kept my attention until the very end and actually had me wishing I were with the characters of this book..
Please read today you will not be disappointed!
Why did I pick this book to read? Well, hot, scot...how could I go wrong?
Cute story and a great escape book.
Melonie Johnson is a new author to me and I was impressed with her style of writing and storytelling. I fell in love with each of these characters. The story was full of fun, flirtatious and sexy moments as well as very serious moments. I would recommend this to my friends.
Logan and Cassie have some off the charts chemistry that they can’t deny. The only problem is neither of father, are looking for anything serious. Can they manage to have a good time together and not become attached? Or is there attraction to each other more than what either of the can walk away from or will they find their HEA? Pick up you copy to find out.
This book had me with the name "Getting Hot with the Scot" and then the description "IT’S TIME TO FLIRT WITH A MAN IN A KILT" What more could I ask for with my obsession with Scottish Highlanders (aka Jamie Fraser)? Logan even reminded me of Jamie with his untamed red hair and Scottish brogue.
I really enjoyed this sexy and funny story. The way Logan and Cassie met was priceless and again had me thinking of my Outlander book boyfriend. This story is in present time though and was so much fun but also serious at times and realistic even after starting with a one night stand (sort of). I really enjoyed their bickering and bantering. Cassie's friends and Logan's best mate really added to the story and I'm so looking forward to the next story in the series with Bonnie and Theo!
This was a really cute romance novel it took me a little to get into, but then I read the last 2/3 of the book in one sitting. I will read more in this series.
This book is well written and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. The characters are really enjoyable. The pace of the story was good. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.
Ms Johnson, you had me at Scot!
Not going to lie, I am a bit of sucker for a story with a Scotsman, so it was a no brainer to read Getting Hot With The Scot.
Logan and Cassie's story is fun and flirty - though at times I wanted to knock some sense into both Logan and Cassie - and FFS people, talk to each other! It is one of my pet peeves, when there are stupid separations because the characters don't talk to each other - but that is prob just me.
I enjoyed the travelling aspect of the story, and the friendships between Cassie and her girls.
There is a bit of set up for the next book in the series, and lucky for me it is waiting on my kindle for me to dive right in.
I received a copy of from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity.
5 Stars and here’s why:
This book title alone hooked me in from the get-go! At first, when I started reading the story, I thought it was another hella-hot time traveler love story, but then when the mischief unfolded, I couldn’t stop laughing. I loved this story! GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT is a flirty read. It’s a witty contemporary romance that had me turning the pages to see if Cassie and Logan finally get together or if they call it quits. I found the writing superb, the characters engaging, the settings well researched, and the plot thoroughly entertaining. The secondary characters were well developed and I can’t wait to read more by Melonie Johnson! If you like sexy guys with a side of shenanigans, and savvy girls that forge their own path to success, then this book is for you. Highly recommend.
Surprisingly sweet and funny, this vacation fling was a great read. I was impressed by the insightfullness of the lead female.
Getting Hot with the Scot is a charming, hilarious romp!
Cassie and her friends were great. I would want to hang out with them. While, the romance was really about Cassie and Logan; there was another one that had some sparks. Cassie's friend, Bonnie and Logan's friend, Theo. Nothing happened between them but I sure do wish something had. I think there could be something there between those two.
Back to Cassie and Logan. First impressions are important. My first one of Logan was not the best. Yet, he won me over with his tenacity, smile, charm and accent. It is true...women are a sucker for an man with an accent. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
This is the first book I've read by Melonie Johnson, and I loved every page of it!
Logan and Cassie are adorable together. Logan is the host of Shenanigans, a show where pranks are pulled on unsuspecting regular people. Logan sets up a prank in Edinburgh Castle, and Cassie is his unsuspecting subject of the prank. This funny, intense, engaging incident begins their romance.
The pace of the story is perfect. It just keeps moving, always with another laugh, knuckle-biter, or cry in the next chapter. Both main characters, and the supporting cast, are well-developed and likable. I want to invite them over to make Clooties (Logan's favorite food!).
Logan's family suffered a tragedy that shapes how he views the world and relationships with women. Watching him cope and evolve emotionally was touching and authentic. He is thoughtful, strong, and kind. The best kind of guy! Cassie is ambitious, bright, and knows herself. I love plucky, self-aware female characters, and Cassie has that in spades. An important secondary component to the story are close relationships she has with her girlfriends. They are all so lovable, I hope I get to read each of their HEAs.
If there is one area of improvement I could see in this book, it would be more detail in the intimate (not sex) scenes. The progress toward sex and love was great, but the scenes where Cassie and Logan are vulnerable and emotionally intimate could have used more substance.
This is a top notch read, and has everything I love about HEA romance. Strongly recommend!
