This is a super fun and super sexy read! I can't wait for more from this new author! She has a great writing style and a fun imagination. I love Logan and Cassie's characters so much and all of Cassie's friends seem pretty great too. Ooh and I can't forget about Theo. I definitely have a new appreciation for kilts.
Excellent and entertaining contemporary romance. A group of girlfriends go on a trip of a lifetime together. Cassie decides she wants a fling. Logan is a Scot who is working to get a network spot for his show when he meets Cassie. There’s serious fireworks between them but also divides as far as their careers. I received a complementary copy of this book via Net Galley but chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Melonie Johnson.
Cassie Crow, on vacation with her girlfriends, is on a tour of a Highland castle when she gets lost and stumbles into a Kilted Scot who lays a kiss on her that makes her think a Highland fling for one night might be just what this serious-minded gal needs. Meanwhile, Logan Reid, all charm and tomfoolery, decides one night with this irresistible all-American is not enough. And the chase is on.
If you like sexy, fun, sensual, and a page turner that will make you laugh out loud, Getting Hot With the Scot is for you. Great secondary characters. I see a series in the making for this debut author. Nicely done.
I received a NetGalley copy of Getting Hot With The Scot in exchange for an honest review.
This was an entertaining book with a fun twist on the Scottish highlander story line which is common in romance novels. I did think it was a little drawn out which made it drag in the middle.
Five close girlfriends on a European tour hit five countries in five weeks.
Cassie Crow, talk show interviewer on ChitChat only wants one souvenir from this trip...a hot affair to remember. She tours a castle in Scotland, and becomes a victim of the prank show, Shenanigans.
She realizes almost immediately and leaves the scene of the prank to rejoin her friends, but is followed by the host, Logan Reid, who needs this particular video for his demographics to get a show in the states he wants desperately.
She is trying to protect her credibility for her own show and won't sign the waiver.
During the contest of wills, it becomes clear that the strong attraction between the two just grows stronger, and they become lovers. A misunderstanding has Cassie fleeing Scotland and Logan follows to convince her that he is really interested, but a second misunderstanding wrecks them both, but they find their way back and find their happy ever after.
This tale has humor, steam, sweet romance and true to the end besties.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse and look forward to the rest of the series.
This was a fun start to a promising new series. When Cassie and her friends set off on a European vacation one of the items on her to-do list is a hot fling and what is hotter than a kilted highlander? The only issue is that she did not count on wanting more than one night. This book was sweet, funny, steamy, and had a lot more going on its pages than I had anticipated from reading the blurb. The pacing was a little off for me but I liked the characters and am really excited to see what the future has in store for Cassie's friends.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Such a fun and unique premise for a romance book! I know my younger romance readers will get a kick out of this and could see many of my New Adult readers really enjoying this one as well. A fabulous addition to our romance shelves.
If you love the feel of historical romance set in todays life this is the book for you.....Cassie and Logan are the couple for you. This book is fast paced full of sex and will have you laughing out loud.
I REALLY enjoyed this book. It was well written especially the character of Cassie who made you feel like she wasn't a run of the mill, modern damsel in distress from most romance novels. The development of the other supporting characters in the book makes me eager to read their stories. I only hope that we get glimpses of Cassie's life in the books that concentrate on her friends love lives.
I was hoping for a cozy romance. DNF
Won't leave a review anywhere
Thanks for granting me access to this book
Loved Cassie and Logan. Such a cute story! Really enjoyed this one.
Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I don’t often read new authors, preferring my favorites, but who can resist a Hot Scot? Not me. I received an ARC from NetGalley to enjoy and review. I found the story engaging and a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the chemistry between Logan and Cassie. There wasn’t a lot of conflict or high passion, but still an enjoyable read. I am really looking forward to Bonnie and Theo’s story which is surely coming next. I’ll certainly give this author another read.
When I read the book blurb, I was right there to read it. However, it turned out that the premise wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I thought, that’s okay, and continued to read. While the book was well-written and had clever story lines...I just could not like the characters. I found them to be a bit silly, a lot of time abrupt, and it was hard to believe that some of them were close, good friends. I will read the next book in the series to see if it was just this book or the author’s style. It is for that reason that I give it four stars. I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
This was the first book I read by Melanie and i really enjoyed, I will be looking forward to other books by her
Cassie and Logan are so hot and crazy together. What began in a joke finish in a love story with ahappy ending. You never know what life you reserve.
This was so much fun! Logan was kind of amazing. I adored his mischievousness and humor, but also his sweetness, and the fact that he was willing to open himself up to being vulnerable. The accent, which I had no problem hearing in my head, didn't hurt either!
Cassie was well-rounded enough as well, and made for a nice contrast to Logan. I loved how she was able to call Logan out on things, and appreciated her own sense of humor, and her strength.
I will say that this felt more like it should have been a duet, with a bit of a lull between the end of vacation and the beginning of real life. I would have enjoyed more fleshing out there in a separate book.
I feel it did a great job and some 4th wall breaking, especially in the last third. I loved all of the friends and family, and look forward to more of the series!
This is a fun rom-com romance. It seems to be in that younger Millineal/older gen Z demographic. Logan is a a Youtube style prankster and Cassie is a pop-culture reporter who ends up in the middle of a scene. This is a cute story. The characters seemed a little immature and I didn't connect with either one deeply.I enjoyed the journey for what it is.
I received a copy through Netgalley.
What a fun, sexy and romantic read. The fact that it was all wrapped up with a Scottish accent made it even better. This book was so charming, written well and entertaining throughout. I enjoyed every second. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.
Thanks to NetGallery for providing this book in exchange for a fair review.
It pains me to give this a lower review because in all fairness, this has all the right ingredients for a great romance novel.
✅Great chemistry between the main characters
✅Sassy group of secondary characters
✅No significant family drama
✅Quick resolution to misunderstandings
I think this might be a case of: "It's not you, it's me." I struggled to bond with either main character closely, particularly Cassie. Her characterization throughout the book felt incredibly flat, lacking in depth and transformational luster that I like to see in my heroines by the last quarter of a book. She never had to change or make room for Logan, it was all on him to set aside his fears and insecurities to make their relationship work.
I enjoyed the arm chair travel elements of the novel, taking the reader through London and rural Scotland in well detailed vignettes. The time spent with Logan's mother was especially lovely.
Although this wasn't my favorite thing that I've read lately, I'm still looking forward to Bonnie and Theo's book. I suspect Melonie Johnson will be one to watch and while her first book wasn't a true "banger" (as in the Scottish word for firework, get your mind out of the gutter) for me, I will be keeping a keen eye out for her future releases.
A very fun, sexy read! I laughed and cried, which to me means a good book. I'm very much looking forward to the other girls stories. Thanks so much for the arc.
I reviewed on goodreads, also.
