I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Cassie Crow has spent the past 5 years focusing on her career as a host of ChiChat, a Chicago talk show, leaving her no time to focus on her love life.
On vacation with her 4 best friends, Cassie sets a goal to have a fling with a hot European guy. Logan Reid has a popular internet show, Shenanigans, and is hoping to get it picked up as a TV show, and a prank he filmed with Cassie would be just the video he needs to seal the deal. Logan needs to convince Cassie to let him air the video, but their attraction is too intense to deny, and all they can focus on is being with each other.

Romance readers will eat this book up; it has all the elements a good romance should. With all of the textbook reading I have had to do for my classes in the past month, this book was a great escape. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

"Life is short, lass." "When good things happen, try not to question it."

Getting Hot with the Scot is a fun and entertaining romantic comedy from author Melonie Johnson. When I first laid eyes on the synopsis, I just knew I had to check this book out and I am so glad that I did! Now, I'll be a 100% honest with you, when I first dove into this book, I wasn't 100% sure about it. For some reason, I had the hardest time getting into the story. But, I gotta tell you, I am so glad I didn't give up. I am so glad that I kept going and gave this book the chance that it deserved because I ended up totally loving it. Once you get to know Cassie and Logan, they are impossible to not fall in love with!

Cassie and Logan were such a fun pair. Logan was a riot and prankster. I'll be straight with you, I didn't know if his intentions were true in the beginning, but I soon discovered that there was a lot more to Logan than meets the eye. Not only is he sexy as ever, but add in his thick Scottish accent and I was a goner. I mean, I just loved hearing his character talk. I felt like I was right along in Scotland with the characters. Add in that the story-line is actually one of my top troupes, I was a goner. I mean, there is nothing better than a night of passion, that suddenly turns into more. Cassie and Logan had some intense sparks between them and I was so excited for the possibility of more between the two of them.  The road to happily ever after for these two definitely wasn't an easy one. There were a lot of bumps along the way. But, I really enjoyed seeing Logan and Cassie's relationship grow and I especially enjoyed seeing Logan come to terms with his past and taking a risk on a love of a lifetime.

Getting Hot with the Scot was a totally fun read. I loved getting lost in Cassie and Logan's story. I thought the plot was a lot of fun and the characters were a riot. I loved the friendship that Cassie had with her girlfriends and loved the closeness that Logan had with his family. Together, Logan and Cassie were an undeniable match. Their sparks intense and the tension between the two of them left me begging for more. I loved the will they/won't they moments along the way. I loved the angst between them and seeing them trying to figure things out. They weren't perfect, but I loved that about them. They had lots of growing to do and I just couldn't wait to see how their story would unravel in the end.

Overall, I thought this book was a really enjoyable read. It was sweet. It was romantic. It had lots of humorous moments and others that just tugged at my heart. I had a great time getting to know these characters and had fun getting swept up in their story. This is my first book by this author and it certainly won't be my last. I can't wait to see what adventure this author has in store for us next.

This book was an unexpected delight! Ms Johnson is a new author to me, and I was invited to read and review this title not really knowing what to expect. I was charmed by her characters. This merry band of friends manages to pull you in and make you feel like one of the group. At the same time you begin to root for the romance while understanding the challenges and pitfalls that could derail the couple. Logan is a rake and a scoundrel of sorts, yet I could hear his Scottish accent endearing him to me even as he pulled a prank. Cassie is strong but vulnerable. They both have an authentic quality that makes you root for them and see the potential ways it will all go awry. If you enjoy strong, funny, lovable characters who are ready to give as good as they get, this author may be a new favorite for you.

A Sometimes in Love Novel

Cassie and friends are taking a break and visiting their favorite European countries. Cassie, a pop-culture reporter who has plans to become a serious reporter, and find herself a hot Scot for a one time fling.

Liam, hides a lot of pain under a devil-may-care attitude and his own show of pranks and shenanigans.

When they meet it is instant chemistry and this may become something much more serious.

This was a fun, instantly engaging romantic comedy. The characters were hilarious and exactly the type of friends I would want to go on a vacation with! I never read this genre'  but took a chance and I have to say I'm glad I did! I already have her next one in my TBR list.

Well Done!

First of all, must confess, I melt at a man in a kilt. And a man in a kilt who has an actual Scottish accent, makes me into a puddle. So, I fell in love with Logan right off the bat.

Cassie is on a dreamy month long European vacation with 4 friends from her college days. They have traveled to various countries and now are in the United Kingdom. While they are touring a Scottish castle, Cassie gets separated from her friends and falls into an adventure.

She finds a man behind a bookcase who apparently is a time traveler. Actually, she is the latest victim of an online prank show. When she passionately kisses the kilt clad man, the entire thing is filmed for future exhibition to the world.

Cassie has her own agenda and her own TV career and she refuses to sign a release which could affect her entire showbiz future.

Logan needs to show his talents in order to get his own TV career started. He follows Cassie and her friends in order to get his release signed but also because he is lusting after Cassie.

From here on, the plot is about Logan following Cassie, the two of them having frequent sex, and Cassie disliking and distrusting Logan on a regular basis.

There was much I liked about this book.

The character development is Ms Johnson's strong suit. The reader gets to know Cassie, Logan and the peripheral characters who will be part of future books in this new series. Each secondary person has individual characteristics which will stand them in good stead in their upcoming stories.

I liked the getting to know Logan's family part of the story. I enjoyed the humor and byplay between Cassie's group of friends. It went a long way to illustrate the strong sense of caring and affection within this group of women.

I loved the conversational byplay between Cassie and Logan. Both of them are intelligent and humorous people. Cassie was not as likable for me as Logan. He seemed to have more qualities that I admire. (it is probably that darn kilt) Cassie seemed to spend more time being very self involved.

The plot left me having ambivalent feelings.

I am all in favor of lust and sex, but, I did feel that in this case we got in too deep much too quickly, literally and figuratively.

Cassie falls in hate toward Logan and then with little to no explanation, she is jumping him again. Of course, from his description, I actually can sort of understand that.

This is a fun book. The characters are humorous and charming and generally interesting.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Ms Johnson has started this series with a bang.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review. All opinions are my own.

A sexy international romp. A girl travels to Europe hoping to get lucky and score big with a hunky Scot. Trouble ensues and they're a part for awhile, but of course all end well to appease all readers.

What a fun filled, hoot Melonie Johnson takes us on with Cassie and Logan. From across the pond to back home, you get a front seat to watch the bumbling of lust to love and what they really want from each other.

I was invited to read this new-to-me author and was pleasantly surprised! I went in completely blind, and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised!

Cassie, an up and coming reporter who is on a summer European trip with her gal pals, is looking to have a hot summer fling with a rugged Scot. To her surprise, she meets a charming Scot who is pursuing his own fame via an internet show. When Cassie gets caught up in one of his pranks, and then in his charms, she's conflicted about his true feelings.

Logan is also conflicted, and has to decide what is more important: his future as a performer, or his heart.

I really enjoyed the story, even when I found myself questioning the coincidences of Logan and Cassie ending up in the same city. I am excited to see there's a second book in the story about side characters! Can't wait to dive into that one and continue this series.

The story of a holiday fling turning into something more, relationship wise was a bit clichéd. The story felt ok, I wasn't able to enjoy much.

This book was such a sweet and sexy read. Funny and charming. I enjoyed going along with Cassie and Logan on their whirlwind romance. Logan is definitely a swoon-worthy character. Cassie would certainly be a person I would love to hang out with.

Certainly not your average Scottish romance. This one is full of multiple family and friendship drama. Too much drama to keep track of it all plus it detracted from the main characters Cassie and Logan. Didn’t enjoy these characters as he seemed childish and immature. Cassie had a job that she loved but didn’t appear like she knew what she was doing most of the time.

3.85 while I enjoyed the characters and the story I wish the sex would have come later. I would have liked them to get to know each other first.

A reporter trying to be taken seriously & a man who has made a career out of high jinks & poking fun of others? Doesn’t sound like a match made in heaven, more like a disaster in the making. When Cassie is on vacation in England, she accidentally stumbles into one of the pranks Logan is filming for his show. She doesn’t think it’s funny. Logan is attracted to Cassie & not only follows her around but enlists his best friend to help. Can they manage to survive when the clip starts making its rounds in the US when Cassie goes home & Logan follows her?

This was a cute, quirky romance from the moment Logan & Cassie met. Their attraction was plain to see but it was hard to see how their different attitudes would mesh. I liked that Logan managed to get Cassie to lighten up but yet Cassie was able to get Logan to start taking some things more seriously. The scenery was described in enough detail that the reader can picture it while reading. This was a well written, interesting romance that was entertaining to read.

Cassie is on a Europe tour with her friends, when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander, she thinks it’s her favorite time travel romance come alive and kisses him. Soon she realizes Logan is filming a prank for his internet sketch show. Where will this inopportune meeting lead them ?
Getting hot with the Scot is a book that is funny with some quirky banter and hot chemistry. I loved the bond shared by the friends and the way the story developed between Cassie and Logan. It is a well written book with an easy pace that I enjoyed reading.

When I first saw the title of Getting Hot with the Scot, I was in love. I am a complete Anglophile. I love anything (and everything) that comes from England, Ireland or Scotland. I figured I was in for a treat. For the most part, I was. There were a few things that I didn’t like about the book. But other than that, I thought Getting Hot with the Scot was a delight to read.

I liked Cassie, even though she gave off some desperate vibes at the beginning of the book. She went on her dream trip expecting to have a fling. I don’t know about you, but that is not something I expect when I go on vacation. Flings, well, they happen. You can’t force them. I did like that she brought an industrial size box of condoms with her. While I agreed with her about being filmed, I also didn’t see the harm in letting them do it. I also understood her freak out over seeing the release form in Logan’s jacket pocket. If I had spent 2 days with a guy and found that out, I would have reacted the same way.

I liked Chicago Cassie better than Trip Cassie. She was more real. More relatable. She seemed more in control than when she was on the trip. Saying that I did think her reaction to seeing the video online was overboard. She signed a release. You would think that working on TV would have prepared her for that. It irritated me a little bit. But, I got over it. By the end of the book, Cassie was the most real that she was the entire book. I was able to connect to her the most at that point.

Logan, I didn’t care for. Imagine that, not caring for a hot Scottish man. It killed me inside to realize that. He came across as an immature prankster who only cared about his gratification. I also got some major stalker vibes through the book. He followed Cassie to her hotel. Got Theo to find out that they were staying there and booked a room. Then pretended to run into her. Then, he tracked her down in Chicago. When I say tracked her down, he called her. But still, he googled where she worked and found that where he was going was in the same building. Then debated showing up at her job!! No thank you. His immaturity shown through when he released the video of him and Cassie kissing in the castle. He was so wasted he couldn’t remember it. Drove me nuts. I wanted to smack him upside the head and say “Why, why did you do it?“

The sexual tension was high in this book. From their first kiss, Cassie and Logan had it going on. The author was able to keep the spark going throughout the book. Intense sexual tension leads to some pretty awesome sex scenes. Their first “date“, they had sex. Logan had Cassie bent over a desk. Then there was the supply closet in the bar scene. Where Logan almost, but not quite, had unprotected sex with Cassie. Thankfully, the author didn’t go there. Even the makeup sex was hot!!

I had a love/hate relationship with the Scottish part of the book. I loved that it was set in the Highlands. I loved that the author had Logan, Janet and Mam speak like they were from there. I tend to read with accents, so that helped with me a lot. I loved that the Scottish traditions were detailed. But, I didn’t like having to google/look up words and holidays. Like clooties. I had no flipping idea what they were. I had to look them up. And so you guys don’t have too, click here for the link. I wish that there was a glossary or something at the end of the book. It would have helped.

The end of the book was sweet. I loved the talk that Mam gave Logan. He needed it. He needed to be told what she told him. I couldn’t stand Tiffany after what she did to Cassie. I was hoping that she got fired. The direction that Cassie’s career went was awesome!! What I loved, even more, was what Logan did during the New Years celebration. My heart melted.

My final impression of Getting Hot with the Scotis this. It is a cute romance. The chemistry between Logan and Cassie was electric. I did find that Logan was immature. He also gave off stalkerish vibes. I also found that Cassie tended to react and then think about what she did after the fact. But, this was a good read.

I would give Getting Hot with the Scot an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is mild violence. There are triggers. They would be the loss of a parent. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Getting Hot with the Scot. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

I received an advance copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This was such a fun book. I read it in one day. The characters are well written. I wish I were part of this group of friends. On the trip of a lifetime with her best friends Cassie is caught up in a prank for an online show. How that evolves into a relationship is a good read. I would guess this will be a series of books telling the story of all the friends. I look forward to that. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to get to know this author.

American Girl meets Man in a Kilt! This formula is one of my favorite plots and this book did not disappoint me! Cassie is an American tourist whose goal to have a fling with a true Scotsman while on vacation. She's about to give up when she meets a gorgeous guy in a kilt! He doesn't always dress that way but Logan Reid is the host of an internet series that can be full of surprises and crazy stunts. The attraction is mutual but both may just change their minds about commitment after getting together one night. Funny with captivating characters made this story a four star for me!

This book will be available April 30, 2019 from St. Martin's Press. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson is a cute contemporary story about a guy from Scotland and a gal from the United States. Cassie Crow and her BFFs are on their dream vacation trip. They are on the last leg of the vacation visiting Scotland. While visiting a castle, Cassie is punked by Logan Reid, an internet entrepreneur. Cassie refuses to sign the wavier so Logan can use the footage on the internet. Logan falls for Cassie and decides to get to know her before asking once again for her to sign the wavier. Cassie and her friends return home. Cassie also works on the internet and is trying to be taken as a serious reporter. Cassie misses Logan, Logan misses Cassie. Fate steps in and Logan gets the job he wanted (without Cassie signing the wavier) and life gets interesting and the road to happiness is bumpy but love prevails. I thoroughly enjoyed Cassie and her friends interactions on their vacation and afterwards. Logan also has an interesting friend to help him. This was a very satisfactory read.

Getting Hot with the Scot is the first book in Johnson's "Sometimes in Love" series. While on a vacation of a lifetime with her best friends, Cassie has one goal -- a one night stand. Almost at the end of her trip, and a still unopened box of condoms stashed in her luggage, Cassie gets separated from her group in a Scottish castle and stumbles upon what looks like a handsome, time-traveling highlander. As Cassie is devote fan of romance novels, could this be her fantasy come true?

Logan is a master of hijinx, and he's just one step away from turning his trouble-making ways into a real career. While Cassie doesn't fall for his highlander escapade, she does plant a kiss on him that rocks his world and just might even forge a new path for him.

Getting Hot with the Scot is a great read. I loved the dynamics between the girlfriends in this book. A midwest girl myself, I enjoyed the scenes that took place in Chicago.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.
