This one started off slow for me. It took me quite some time to get through and I kept putting it down. It did pick up in the middle but the last 20% I pretty much skimmed. I think it was just too long for me, I started to get a little bored. I’ll move on to the second book because I want to see what happens with the next couple. I was enjoying their interactions in this story.

Cassie and her 4 friends head to Europe for a long-planned vacation. Toward the end of their trip they are in Scotland at the Edinburgh Castle where Cassie accidentally winds up in a video prank by Logan and she kisses him. That is the meet-cute that ends up causing all sorts of problems.

I found this book to be on the fluffy & cute side. If you want a book for total escape then this is a good one. The characters are well drawn, even if I didn't always like them. This is probably considered a “New Adult” genre although for me it read like an erotic “Young Adult”. There is a lot of explicit sex.

This was a cute story. Logan and Cassie’s first meeting was awkward but intriguing. They had good chemistry and they did play on that...a lot. These two do a lot of running around. Logan’s ulterior motive, Cassie’s slightly untrustful heart, friends who add a fun quality made this story a fine one. I wanted to see how it would all go down. And it did keep me reading on. Overall, a satisfactory read. I am intrigued by some of these characters and I am all in for reading the next two in the series.

Cassie and Logan’s story is great! . Cassie is on vacation with her friends and gets turned around in a castle and who does she meet but Logan! He is a sexy witty handsome Scot that is nothing but delicious fun from the start. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.

I thoroughly enjoyed this lighthearted story about Cassie and Logan. Logan's pranks have helped him avoid dealing with the grief caused by the loss of his father. Cassie, on the other hand, is wanting to move on to serious reporting and believes that being an unwitting participant in one of his sketches will set her career back by a landslide.

Logan has had his sights set on Cassie since he first met her in that drafty old castle. While he is pursuing his dream of making it big, Cassie is also making her dreams come true by creating a dialogue to help children's literacy.

One slip of the tongue, one moment of weakness leads to a potential career crash for Cassie. Logan didn't mean to share the video but the effects of it could lead to the loss of her job.

Only time will tell if the aftereffects of the leaked video will lead both the destruction of career and the romance that Logan has built with Cassie.

This is the first in a new series, and is one which I will continue to read. It was easy reading, with some silly banter, some fun flirtations, and a sweet story at its heart. As a Brit I had a few issues with how they managed their itinerary, but overall it was fun.

A group of old college girlfriends on a trip round Europe together is a great starting point for a story. We get to know them and their foibles in a really natural way through the story, to the point where I could describe each one and their interests, but having learned them organically. This is a sign of good writing for me. I am really happy that we will be meeting them again in future installments and finding out how they reach their happily ever afters too.

Cassie and Logan are a good pairing, because unbeknown to them, they have a career in common and a future which would work. I thought this was a clever way of making what should have been a crazy fling actually work into a romance with a future. The dilemma that Logan faced was well played, and his difficulty in deciding how to reconcile head and heart worked.

Overall a good read, with a happy vibe and a desirable outcome – thank you, Melonie Johnson.

Oh my goodness! Move over Jamie Fraser because a new Scot has won a piece of my heart! Like Cassie Crow in Getting Hot with the Scot, I’m also a sucker for a man in a kilt! This is the first book by Melonie Johnson, the first in the Sometimes in Love series, but not the last book of hers I’ll be reading. Cassie Crow is with her 4 best friends on their European vacation, and Cassie is looking for a memory to take back with her-a romance with a European man. She meets Logan F***ing Reid (yes, that’s what he’s referred to in the book for a reason) at Edinburgh castle. Logan is filming his internet show, Shenanigans, and he’s out to convince someone he’s a Highlander time traveler. Cassie, a romance book lover, lost in Edinburgh castle, stumbles upon Logan who almost has her convinced he’s from centuries past when she recognizes him! But not before giving in and making out with him first! What ensues is Logan’s pursuit of her to get her to sign a release so his show can be posted. Logan enlists the help of his friend, the Duke he met at St. Andrews, Theo, who looks like Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. The two travel to London, and later the Fates conspire to bring Logan and Cassie together again in Chicago. This story is magical! And the ending was incredible! A great first effort by Ms. Johnson. Slainte!

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson is book 1 in the Sometimes in Love series and a new to me author.

Cassie and her friends come to Europe on vacation and while in Scotland and touring a castle, Cassie gets turned around after going to the restroom and finds herself in another part of the castle that is off limits...but she ends up meeting a very Hot Scot, Logan Reid who is filming his escapades for his web site. What happens next is funny, charming, entertaining, hot fling, and sparks! Will these two find a HEA or will it just be a vacation fling??

This was a very fun and sexy debut novel and a great beginning to a new series.

Logan and Cassie's chemistry jumped from the page and had me rooting for them from the very start.  Even though their relationship progressed pretty quickly, it didn't come across as instalove because the connection between them was evident in a way that felt authentic and believable.

I love the friendship aspect of this book and found myself instantly endeared to them all. I love the idea of being able to see each of these ladies get their happy ever after. I'm already really looking forward to Bonnie's story!! If I didn't have other books on my schedule, I would already be diving into my arc of Smitten by the Brit!!

This book was so much fun and I really enjoyed Cassie and Logan's story! It was just as sexy and steamy as it was sweet, swoony and endearing.

I have this obsession with stories that take place in Scotland and have smoking hot Scottish characters. It’s actually been such a long time since I’ve read something like that, so when I saw this book on Netgalley, I just couldn’t resist. And whoa! This book was pretty much a delicious treat I never wanted to finish. The writing was witty, clever and wonderfully engaging. Although there were some parts that lagged a wee bit here and there, I thought the plot was well-developed and satisfyingly entertaining. I found myself intrigued and enamored with the setting, the characters, the friendships, and the adorable romance. I really enjoyed watching Cassie and Logan’s relationship develop and blossomed into something that meant so much to the both of them.

I adored all the characters in this book. They were charming, fun, and relatable. They’re exactly the kind of characters I’d want to be friends with and I just thought they were so wonderful. Cassie and Logan had my heart from the start. Cassie’s such an amazing heroine. I loved her determination, spunk and strength. I thought she was the perfect match for Logan who was utterly enticing, irresistible, and had a heart of gold. Cassie’s best friends were a blast and so interesting. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters and cannot wait to continue with the series.

A beautifully well-written and heartfelt romcom with characters that will steal your hearts, Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson was a fantastic read until the last page. It was humorous, exciting, steamy, and sweet. I also liked that in the midst of all the fun and crazy shenanigans, there was also this amazing emotional depth that made me fall deeper in love with this book and series. Johnson just made it to my new to me favorite author list and I cannot wait to be smitten with Bonnie and Theo in the next installment.

This was truly an absolute delight to read! If you love strong heroines, sexy men in kilts, amazing friendships and a realistic and heartwarming romance, then do yourself a favor and add this wonderful gem to your TBR.

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts, feelings and swoons are my own.

This delightful and charming debut novel by Melonie Johnson kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end with unforgettable characters and a sexy, funny, tender and touching romance that I just couldn't put down and really didn't want it to end. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Cassie Crow, pop-culture reporter for a TV show in Chicago and Logan Reid, Scottish prankster who hosts a series of off-the-wall hi-jinks on the web. This is a must-read for fans of well-crafted contemporary romance and I can't wait to read more by this gifted author.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. I enjoyed the book so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.

This one really wasn't for me, but I'm sure it's a great romance for many readers. The writing is good, and the characters are fun. The sex is sexy, and the romance isn't just a love at first sight thing - there's a real build up after the itch is scratched. But I just couldn't get into the story. At all. I started with this one, even though it's the third book in the series that caught my eye, because the characters are linked and I hate jumping into a series (romance or otherwise) when I can start at book 1 .... Mistake on my part. I knew that I would be annoyed with the whole Scot aspect, because I've read enough historical romances with Jacobites to know that any book with "lass" and similar would drive me nuts. Even with the excuse that the POV kind of swapped a bit, I wanted the author to minimize the use of the brogue when Logan was thinking. I can handle it in the conversation so long as it's not OTT but for it to be peppered in his thinking, it just got to be a little too much.

The other reason why I didn't really get into this book is that it rolled out so slowly. Yes, they hop in the sack together quickly, but then the book seems to drag on and on.

At this point, I'm not sure that I can read the other books in the series.

This is a cute story. Girlfriends go on a Holiday. All Cassie wanted was a hot fling while on vacation. What she got was much more. Cassie and Logan’s story starts out rocky but they manage to turn it around for a HEA.

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson
Sometimes in Love #1

Cassie Crow and her friends have been planning their trip to Europe for years and finally, about five years after they graduate from college, they have gone on their dream trip together.

This book begins in Scotland and is the first in a series of books that will no doubt showcase each of Cassie’s friends and how they find the person who will become t heir partner in life. But, this is Cassie and Logan’s story.

Cassie is in a Castle and happens upon a hunky kilted Scot inside a library wall. Is he a time traveler or??? Well...when Cassie realizes that the tall gorgeous redhead with the brogue is Logan Reid, prankster extraordinaire, she put the kibosh on his hopes of putting the impromptu kiss they shared onto his website. Not wanting to give up on getting her to sign the release form he puts the moves on to see if he can change her mind. Little does he know that HER goal is to have a torrid European fling while on her dream vacation. And thus begins their journey toward a HES...maybe. Beginning in Scotland they move on to England, seems to end, picks up again in Chicago and continues on from there. How they manage to find their HEA involves some maneuvering, includes Cassie’s friends and sets the reader up for book two that will be the story of one of Logan’s friends getting together with one of Cassie’s friends – these two meet on the European vacation, too.

This book had a New Adult feel to it so my guess is it will be a favorite with those who read this genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

"Getting Hot with the Scot" was a fun, sweet, and sexy story, and an excellent debut novel for first-time author Melonie Johnson. Both of the main characters were well-developed and likeable, and the secondary characters were delightful as well. I particularly appreciated the fact that the female main character, Cassie, was a big fan of romance novels and did not hide that fact, even at work. Using her love for romance novels as part of the literacy campaign she developed seemed like a great idea to me!

I'm generally not a fan of lie-of-omission plots, but I thought the trope was handled relatively well here. Logan's reasons for hiding things from Cassie were at least understandable, though that didn't necessarily make them right. It bothered me a little bit that he didn't even try to figure out another way to boost his website's numbers besides using the footage of Cassie from the prank at Edinburgh Castle, though I guess the point was that he needed an excuse to spend more time with her, and "romancing" her into signing the release seemed like his best option. Logan's unresolved feelings relating to his father's death probably played into his handling of the situation as well because he was afraid that if Cassie knew the truth, he would end up losing someone else he cared about.

At any rate, I enjoyed Cassie and Logan's story very much and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Cassie and Logan were a fun couple, their meeting was hilarious. Romcom is not my fave trope but I quite enjoyed this one. The American girl and the Scot in the kilt, could these two make a one night stand last a life time?

Logan and Cassie are such a fun couple in this story. I loved how different they were but you felt that instant attraction between the two of them. Of course, the fact that he was Scottish didn’t hurt. If readers love hot and sexy romance, this is definitely a book they want to pick up.

Started out fun but then got too forced. I didn't really like either character. American goes on holiday and gets pranked by a hot British actor.

Should be 3.5 stars. I really liked the story and the characters. Logan and Cassie were great together and had chemistry. Theo was an added bonus to the group and I would read his book. The issue I had was the flow of the story. For me it was a bit longer than it needed to be. Some parts had more narrative than I like in a book. It ended well and without a cliffhanger.

I absolutely loved this book! I actually read the books out of order, I started with Smitten by the Brit. I loved the characters and was thrilled to have the opportunity to read Cassie and Logan's story as well. This book kept me up reading late into the night, very entertaining and had me laughing out loud. Can't wait to read more by this author!
